Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

wanted to say, yes, they allow difference, but NOT drugs that are harmful. The FDA needs to know about problems. TevaBarr will not do anything, so we have to HOPE that the FDA gets enough complaints about rapid heart rate. THAT is a bad thing for people and dangerous, depending on your health. I have a TBI, but heart is still good. Again no probs until TEVA bought out the Barr company and it became TEVABARR. There is something wrong wiht their makeup of med.....they are cheap or maybe using caffeine for an ingredient. LOL

Same happened to me. At the last refill, suddenly I needed to take four times as much to get half the effect. What worries me is now we are taking so much more - what happens when Teva corrects the manufacturing defect also without telling us?

Anyone who doesn't test a quarter of a pill of any new prescription is risking their life.

Teva know about this because I have told them.

We need a lawyer.

What the hell is in these pills? Is there any amphetamine at all?????

When I take a teva 20mg pill now, I get loads of sweating, acid reflux and headaches with NO focus or motivation. Also I'm hungry all the time and I've gained like 20 pounds in the last 6-7 months because of this new teva orange pill

Sometimes I think there's no amphetamine at all in this pill! I'm getting all the bad side effects with no benefit at all! It feels like I'm taking lots of caffeine with this thing.

I am so glad that I am not the only one realizing this. I thought it was just
My tolerance going through the roof in the last year although I probably take even less than I did then so that didn’t make sense. It’s like no matter what generic I request, they all do nothing. They are nothing like they were even a couple of years ago. I thought it was in my head. I’m even a Pharmacy Student so I know how this all works and there’s nothing more infuriating than when you’re treated like a drug seeker and a pharmacy or Dr. states “they should all be about the same.” They if anyone should know that’s not true.

I waited 2 weeks for my TEVA ADDERALL which I was told was the gold standard. I finally got them - the 20s. The orange pills.

They don't work. They make me go to the bathroom and according to my apple watch my hearts beating a lot faster BUT - I only have a vague sense of that feeling and then after 2 hours even that tiny feeling was gone. I have used adderall on and off for years, and trust me, these pills don't work. What a shame. I have no idea what brand to get at this point in December of 2021. If anyone knows, please tell me. Again, TEVA 20 MG ADDERALL IR DOES NOT WORK.

Thanks for your response. I also take it due to a TBI. I notice a BIG difference in the meds. At first I thought I was needing a new dose, but it is clearly the medication. Thanks.

I was diagnosed with ADHD about a month ago, the first prescription I got was to try out Adderall to see if it was right for me. I got it at Target Pharmacy and it was CorePharma Brand. I started with 10mg IR and first broke them in half and took 5mg in the morning then 5mg in the afternoon. Subtle effects occurred obviously because of the low dosage, but it was very noticeable and I liked my productivity and focus. Then after a week of that I called my doctor and told her I was going to start taking the 10mg twice a day, and after she approved I saw a decent increase in focus and general effect. This was a good first experience and the CorePharma ones seemed to be doing the desired job, keeping me organized and focused on productivity in my daily life, a godsend!

I decided I wanted to try XR so that I wouldn't have to take it multiple times a day. My doctor okayed it and she prescribed 20mg XR once a day and also wrote one for 10mg IR for during the day if I needed to achieve more focus and increase the effect.

This time I went to my local Walgreens because they have better hours than Target. The XR and IR pills I got are both by Barr Brand, IR 10mg = Light blue oval "barr 975" XR orange capsule "Amphetamine Salts 20mg"

So my first day I take the 20mg XR at 8am and then 10mg IR around 12pm and another 5mg IR 2 hours later. I am very confused and disappointed by the effects. First of all this is close to double what I was taking when I started with the CorePharma brand. I work 10 hours days on average so I was counting on this to work, but I felt sort of foggy half way through the day. I was more awake than usual, however it wasn't that motivational, sharp focus, productive feeling you should get. I think the best way to describe it is feeling like a robotic zombie if that makes sense...

I can say for sure in my short time of using Adderall that there is definitely something wrong or missing in the current Barr brand/batch of Adderall, and not just in the IR but also the XR ones.

Sorry for the long message, I just want to be detailed about my experience and see if anyone else has felt this way about the current Barr brand Adderall. Its very frustrating for people like me who are counting on medication to work, especially when it did work your first month and then suddenly its ineffective.

Last week or so Teva recalled two batches of amphetamine salts 10mg pills that have been distributed for the past two years. They made "uneven batches" which made the effects from the pills different from script to script. It is likely that this happens or happened often and only these two lot numbers have been reported enough to get them recalled.

I suggest that all of you with concerns have your dr. give you a Heavy Metal test. I have tried, returned, complained and suffered as my 13yr, detoamphetamine Sulfate put out by BARR and taken over by TEVA was a counterfeit with severe side-effects. My heavy Metals test came-out High in 3 Heavy Metals including: Cadmium, Trioxide, Cephalon; and have more tests to go as I am sick from years of lies, deception and experimentation as well as harmful effects. The Stimulant Meds, [All of them], unless you're a working professional with good insurance and ADHD. Most ALL the drug manufacturers are secretly re-arranging molecules with toxic ingredients. None of the 30 "stimulants" worked, and caused 35# gain w/o reason, anger, frustration and harmful and toxic effects from synthetic ARSENICS. The higher-up Government told them several years ago to change our medications, but who would think it be w/o my knowledge and Consent. ? The name for all of these is Levo amphetamine, it's in everyone I've tried. It's creepy, look-up the Frankenstein twist and reversals and strange manipulation of these molecules, as well as keep notes on your physical responces and changes in your health, and mind.

I spent my entire day going from pharmacy to pharmacy in an effort to see if one of them routinely stocked any other brands of adderall. Guess what, each one sold TEVA, and stocked only TEVA. TEVA has quiet the monopoly going here. TEVA is faultering financially and is turning inward for their profit. They are forcing their drug manufacturers to meet pricing that TEVA sets for them. Then, there is very little FDA oversight of the generic manufacturers to insure quality and consistency. The manufacturers are located outside of the U.S.A. and the FDA has to obtain prior permission from each respective foreign government in order to carry out their inspections. Giving the drug maker both notice of the pending inspections and time to clean up their act. Actual FDA inspecting only happens in the worst case scenarios, and one would assume only after much time has gone by. In the meantime, the drug companies are allowed to self report on the analysis of their drugs, meaning they carry out their own evaluations (and submit the "results" to the FDA). Theoretically, the drug maker can write up their reports in any manner that they chose. The generic drug makers have been caught falsifying their reports.

The FDA, on their own their official web page, has announced that they will no longer be posting pending recalls. Hhhmmmmm. Wow, so you and I can't even see if a drug that we have taken and experienced negative results from, could be the source of our problems. I can provide you with the source of my findings if you ask me too. I have saved the articles on my favorites. We are dealing with a proven dishonest drug seller....I say seller because TEVA is using 7 different manufacturers to produce their drugs, globally. They are in one hell of a financial bind, and are allowed to force the drug maker to meet their set prices for manufacturing or be terminated as a supplier. The drug makers are (FDA allowed) self inspecting their drugs, which were made at their cheapest possible price. (DOES IT COST LESS TO MAKE A LESS EFFECTIVE DRUG WITHOUT EXPENSIVE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS?) I tend to think that "fillers and binders" would be the cheapest ingredients which would likely have to be increased, and thus, the active ingredient is most likely what is cut back on, in an effort to be the cheapest.

The FDA is hardly, if ever, actually doing its job to insure quality controls. We now can not check to see if the FDA has pending recalls on our drugs. (Because their inspection of globally manufactured drugs is dismal at best) TEVA has the market cornered by contracting with our insurance companies and points of distribution, or pharmacies. Giving us the absolutely cheapest (to manufacture) drugs available. AND....we wonder why we are no longer getting anything positive from the drugs we are purchasing. Just post here and ask and I will be happy to provide you with the websites that tell TEVA's story. Are you still wondering why your medication is "different" this time around, or different from the past? One only need to look at the state of affairs that your drug company (TEVA) currently finds itself in. Depressing I know.....but I would be willing to bet you that TEVA has a (cheap), ineffective medication for that! UNREAL.

My old Barr generic works very well. It is 2 years old. The new Teva is pure junk. I experimented and found this to be true:

1. There is a completely different "feel" to the Teva.
2. Teva varies from pill to pill.
3. Teva varies batch to batch.
4. If I take my "daily" dose using 3 -Teva 15mg, it feels entirely different than if I take my daily dose using 4 1/2 Teva 10mg, for my total of 45 mg, daily. (how could this be if all amphs. are made to the "same specs" ?)
5. There is a lot of bs-ing going on by the manufacturers.
6. It is being allowed to go on....indefinitely. (Search and see just how long people have been complaining of this)
7. The FDA does not care,...one bit.

Now, did you know that a lot of the FDA management gain lucrative employment from the pharmaceutical companies once they leave the FDA? So really, just how much "enforcement" do you think they are doing? Sort of like politicians becoming lobbyists after they leave their cush govt. job. Exactly who...do you think they were looking out for while they were in their govt job? Themselves and their cronies (lucrative, prospective future employers and campaign donors)... or the average citizen? There is only 1 correct answer, folks.

Re: BobH (# 713) Expand Referenced Message

TEVA IS A TERRIBLY UNRELIABLE PHARM COMPANY. READ MY PAST POSTING ABOUT TEVA AND GENERICS IN GENERAL. I’ve been taking generics for 30 plus years and TEVA has never, ever worked for me! I’m prescribed a different generic and it works like it should. Again, generics are not FDA tested and not required to do so. However, generics are required to be plus or minus 10% efficacy of the “name brand” medication to be on the generic list of alternative meds for the name brand. These shifty Parm companies are all snakes in the grass. Over the years, especially of late I notice that potency varies for even the best stand by generics. I tout Watson as the best generic for Fiorinal 3 but lately take two together to get same effect (relief). This is BS. BUT ITS TRUE. It's the same thing lately. I work at the #1/2 major heart center in the US- second to Mayo and know my field (25 years). I’m an in-house regulator of many drugs and procedures and work closely with the FDA inspectors. Wow, do they have some interesting stories to tell about “off shore” manufacturing! Whether it’s meds or latex gloves made in Malaysia or blood filters for immune compromised patients, the s*** stories are incredible to hear! A pathetic commentary on the medical supply industry-generic drugs in particular. Vey lacks controls in a. Life or death industry. They have and always have had profits dictating their ethics. The pharm companies are bought, sold, division of, distributed by change hands on a regular basis. As a consumer or even a pharmacist it is almost impossible to get an answer as to who owns who of late and even if the pill your getting has the potency they claim.

I believe the FDA is so heavily lobbied by these manufacturers that our Congress gets snowed by them at all levels. The latest smokescreen is the illegal street drug crisis. Who pays the cost? Us consumers because we, who are legitimate prescription holders are not considered. The street drugs will always be there no matter what but we (you and me) will pay the price. Most all our generics are mfg in 3rd world markets and do really think the guy or woman running the pill machine, or there boss could care if the drug is consistent from lot to lot? No way. What’s their incentive to even produce a consistent lot of a pill. Yup, this isn’t as much me as it is the FDA inspectors telling me these stories while drinking coffee/downtime during their annual inspections. Sorry for too much info but my latest refill is C minus and I’m frustrated. Who do you turn to? As the population ages the pharmaceutical oligarchy (and it is), will keep giving all of us a sub- par product. This generic thing is a pathetic scam. The tip of the iceberg in the world of healthcare. I have no axe to grind and just talking facts, which most of you already know. The only thing that has helped the consumer regarding all this stupid nonsense are Rx savings cards. At least now we can see the range of pricing from vendor to vendor. Even this price comparison is so ridiculous from the various pharmacies. Come on, as an example how is it that one place will charge 15$ for a med and the other place down the street will charge 65$ for the same generic?

BobH (# 784) --

Yes, exactly. Perhaps they also tell the doctor how everyone else are pill-popping junkies, but they are a Bible thumping paragon of morality!

Ever notice how the finger-pointers always have a ton of skeletons lurking in their closets? Like the fundamentalist preachers picketing the funerals of AIDS victims, only to be arrested for soliciting young boys on the internet?

This is a really stupid issue for the hypocrites to be jumping on. First of all, we are all behind computers, there is no need for debating who is a "junkie" and who is a narcoleptic pro-bono attorney who helps children/elderly who were abused. Second of all--and this will be news to those who engage in black-or-white thinking--it is perfectly possible for someone to be both. But thirdly, statement two is irrelevant at best in a discussion of prescribed drugs, and can only be used as an ad hominem attack to discredit those alarmed at the lack of efficacy of a particular generic.

Now, who would benefit from sidetracking a discussion by consumers who want exactly what they are paying for when they go to the pharmacy? Those who are in the business of quashing any complaints about the quality of generics in order to maintain profit margins. The best tool to get us all to shut up is by using the bogeyman of "drug addict!" It works on chronic pain patients, who now suffer drastically lowered quality of life. Everyone becomes too busy separating the "evil drug abusers" from the "valid" pain/ADHD/narcolepsy patients to see the scam perpetuated by those profiting, which is exactly what the profiteers of poor generics want: Sow discord and paranoia, divide and conquer, silence valid complaints by stating that anyone unsatisfied with their meds "just wants to get high", which is damnable in Puritan America.

In a climate where doctors are (justifiably) terrified to prescribe or continue prescribing mild pain-relieving Schedule 2's even for in agony terminal cancer patients, I highly doubt doctors are literally handing out a much less needed Schedule 2 like Adderall for a condition like ADHD which doesn't even cause physical pain, much less impending death. Anyone who has a doctor's prescription for stimulants in this climate is less of a junkie at this point than the average person without one.

But you know what? Even if every other person on this board was "just drug seeking", I DON'T CARE as I am not their doctor. It doesn't negate the premise that medications should contain exactly what they are supposed to and not what they're not. Nor does it negate the fact that all people deserve help for their afflictions, including those that are based in the brain. I do not live in anyone else's body, nor do they live in mine, and none of us has the right to presume what is going on in there.

Those who haven't outgrown high school, go to one of the many "where can I find a doctor in Buttland Texas who will give me Adderall without an ADHD diagnosis?" on here and call them drug-seekers, because they are. As long as you're here attacking those with a diagnosis and prescription trying to get to the bottom of a long-standing problem in a notoriously corrupt and secretive billion-dollar industry, I will simply assume that you are part of it in some way. I will not dignify your thought-terminating juvenile mud-slinging with a response.

If those of us prescribed Adderall are "drug seekers" when we aim to find a generic on par with actual brand name Adderall, are our doctors "drug pushers" when they give us prescription for a different drug that's brand name/specify a generic, while agreeing with us that most recent generics are sub-par for reasons beyond our own bodies and minds? What about doctors who themselves have ADHD or a chronic pain condition who also believe something odd is going on with Schedule 2 medications? What about all the other threads, here and on other boards, where patients bemoan the state of generics that aren't Schedule 2 meds, or even scheduled meds at all! Are they junkies too?

If you are not "in the business" and are just a scared pawn who doesn't want to imagine that the highers-up might not be acting in good faith and therefore tries to discredit and silence anyone who doesn't swallow the party line, you need to brush up on America's history of drug prohibition and demonization of the "junkie" as a social tool against racialized people deemed "undesirable", the history of prohibition, the development of for-profit prisons, and the recent "opioid crisis" as a means of promoting super expensive non-opioid drugs for chronic illnesses. Non-contextual black-and-white thinking leads to an ignorant populace who, in their mindless acceptance of the societal scripts of the day, often gleefully act against their own interests.

Re: Tom (# 834) Expand Referenced Message

Yes, exactly. Hunger, acid reflux, weight gain, no effect on ADHD symptoms.

It's almost as if whatever is in here (NOT amphetamine, obviously) is designed to increase the bottom line of the companies that market GERD medications, add numbers to the large swath of the population shelling out cash in order to not be a "victim of the obesity epidemic), and line the pockets of the car insurance companies (after we ADHD'ers, now unmedicated, start having more car accidents as untreated ADHD sufferers have been statistically proven to do).

And then, when we call attention to our poor health and ADHD symptoms increasing to their unmedicated levels, the drug rehabs can get in on the $$$$ when we're called "drug seekers in need of addiction treatment", even if we have not had our dose raised since we started the medication, nor ever went against our psychiatrist's orders!

When we assert this, and once again state that there is something off with our medication, the manufacturer of the latest EPS-causing, weight-ballooning, zombifying anti-psychotic can increase their revenue too, because obviously we're all just suffering clinical paranoia, as obviously the pharmaceutical companies and the FDA/DEA only have the patient's best interest at heart! Presto, the new "atypical" antipsychotic becomes authorized for a new ADHD symptom, "ADHD related paranoia".

In all seriousness, though, I want to know why we don't have access to purchase kits that will tell us what exactly is in these generic Adderall--because it sure isn't amphetamine and harmless fillers. They either think the public is so stupid that we'd believe actual Adderall could cause hunger, fatigue, and weight gain, or--more likely--they realize that we have no power at all and the ridiculous-seeking scenario I've outlined above is more likely to be accepted than our collective first-hand accounts of taking obviously counterfeit and contaminated medication.

I learned that the fda hasnt done manufacturing inspections since like last spring due to covid. Its bad enough they give them up to 12 twelve weeks in advance they're coming to inspect mostly overseas.China and india.Just saw in news article another indian company falsified data papers.I read they change data on paper and on computers for bioequivelance false test results like for batches of the drug. to avoid penalties and its more than one company. Also expecially lately due to covid india has been heavenly relying on china for their API (ACTIVE PHARMACEUTICAL INGREDIENTS) IVE read a few articles where the drug didnt even have the right api imagine that plus our fda giving them a heads up to inspect. Also to know even if or when the fda does run a test there their only testing for bioequivelence not to see if its effective say like giving someone one and saying now tell me if it works or not.

Covid only made it worse with fda overseas inspections mostly Adderall coming from china. I'm sure china and india are using it to their advantage giving us fake meds.

And also i read about manutacturers of raw amphetamine, shutting down or working half capacity. Just filled teva usa and it's as bad as it was in december for me, not effective.

I saw someone posting about bottle of lies. It's worth checking out. Katherine Eban she also has youtube videos talking about corruption in our medications.

I am having the exact same problem. I got 60 x 20mg tabs of teva and it's like several of the active ingredients are missing. It barely does what it used to do. I take one then another then another and it barely works. I heard that the pandemic caused a chemical shortage so they're shipping out the pills with one or more active ingredients missing.

Please report to the FDA ASAP.

If you have noticed decreased efficacy or adverse affects, I URGE you to report it to the FDA ASAP. We can't get these pharmaceutical companies to stop messing with our meds if we keep our heads down and keep the conversation among the general population - we need to make some noise!

"Voluntary reports are essential for ensuring the continued safety of FDA-regulated products. One or two well documented case reports may provide an early signal of unexpected problems and lead to additional evaluation. This may result in FDA regulatory actions that improve the safety of the products used in patient care each day."

Well, Jay Smood, I have sensitivities to different generics whether it is naproxen or amphetamine salts. Just because I am well spoken and know the difference between "you're" and "your", or the difference between "right" and "write", doesn't mean sh*t except that I have a better grasp at written grammar than you do. I will assume that your message is directed at me since the only other long winded comments were written a few years ago. If you are so curious, and you have read my commentary than you will see that I have found the generic that works for me through my trials and tribulations. I would also like to note that being very self aware internally and externally is what brought me to find any forums in the first place. Feeling different things and noticing patterns is what prompted my curious in the first place to see if any others have experienced similar going ons. I am offended by your assumption that people with ADD cannot sit and write a paragraph without the help of stimulant medication. Not every person with ADD is going to have the same advantages or disadvantages as you personally, (the ability to sit and write out a paragraph regarding something of interest to them along with sharing what they have experienced and learned as they went along just incase it can maybe help someone else that is looking for a little guidance on their personal journey).
I am so happy for you that you are able to take different generics each month and feel that it works. You might want to discuss anger issues though with your doctor. Maybe you're on too high of a dosage, or else maybe the different dyes and junk fillers in each month's different prescription is effecting you more than you think.
