Adderall Backorder (Page 52)

Updated

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Re: Bp01 (# 1020) Expand Referenced Message

Federal law requires a doctor patient relationship at least one face to face visit before prescribing Schedule II medications. When the pandemic started and a Federal Emergency was declared. That law was temporarily changed to not require a doctor patient relationship, at least one face to face meeting before prescribing a Schedule II drug. Technically it is still in affect until the Federal Emergency due to the pandemic is lifted. But the change has been abused by certain new companies.

Yes, I'm aware of that, as my own doctor's have used it. And you started it before. Don't worry, I saw it. ;)

I just thought it would be helpful for anyone who is currently using these specific services/companies. They're already being investigated by the DEA, so if anyone as a patient, are experiencing problems at the pharmacy it's probably bc pharmacies have began to block prescriptions from prescribers they've flagged from these companies. I read cerebral is also going to start initiating urine screens as well. There's also a lawsuit by a former VP.

How can a drug screen be done online? These businesses will have to stop prescribing Schedule II drugs when the Federal Emergency due to covid ends anyway. Looks like that is coming up soon.

I was prescribed Adderall today for the first time in my life. I've never been on regular meds and hardly ever took them when prescribed for what either an injury, a kidney infection, broken ribs or even a gunshot wound. I would take them at first for a coupe of days and as soon as I could move about, was done with them. My local Walgreens knows from my info in the system, that if I come in with a prescription, it's because it's medically necessary. They can also see that unlike most in S. Florida who are whom are given refills for pain meds, mine still remain open in their system. So, I was taken back by their behavior today when I when in to get my prescription filled.

Never having been on Adderall before, I was oblivious to all the shortages, the difficulties people were having filling their prescriptions, the online pushers, not even the stance that chain pharmacies had taken not the policies they've adopted. So I walk in with the prescription in hand and give it to them along with my ID and insurance card. It was at this time, when I saw the clerk inspecting the prescription like an archeologist with a papyrus scroll, that I immediately thought to myself the same thing that every does when a cop car pulls up behind (especially if they did nothing wrong "Oh F***! What now?". And just like a cop, he needed to pull some more clerks and pharmacist in to provide some more forensic analysis. It was at this time that I arrived to the point where I could no longer control myself from asking why they've Encyclopedia Brown my s***. Apparently, the Scooby Doo Gang couldn't solve the mystery of what to do and took it over to the pharmacist for further dissection.

It's during that examination, that notice how they keep looking back at me; almost as if they're expecting me to break out sweating. Finally, I could not longer contain myself, and ask what's the problem. Little did I know that I had to pass an oral exam to get a prescription filled. And like a teakettle, I just zipped past the simmering stage and put my lips together and blew out air in order stop from asking if they want blood and urine. So, after watching them for 30 minutes look for either answers or the freaking Adderall inside of computer screen, the post it notes on the wall, the carpet...... everywhere except the big-ass shelves directly behind them, they finally all starting nodding in agreement, looking like a bunch of bobblehead dolls in white coats after hitting one of the potholes on I-95. The pharmacist headed towards me, looking like she was either going to ask me to stand on one leg, tilt my head back and touch my nose or inform me that they have determined that the paper my prescription is written is pregnant.

Little did I know, as I left Walgreen's with my pregnant prescription, thinking WTF?!, that this would be just the opening act for the afternoon that laid ahead. If I would have known then what the rest of the day would be like, I would have talked myself into accepting that I've dealt with this all my life, so what's a few more days of having zero patience for bad drivers, rude people, clueless customer service agents couple with a little lack in judgement and erratic decision making; just another day. But no; I had to dive into this mess like a tick on a bloodhound. Needless to say, my day ended when I started to feel like I was back in Iraq, searching through every cave and up every camel's ass for WMDs that didn't exist. I almost called the doc and asked if either I'm being Punk'ed or is this some secret government test gone awry.

I'm not sure what black-hole of the internet I travelled through to get here, but let's just say that I need to get on this medication soon because last I recall I was doing some analysis for work at 9:30 in the evening and it's now 5am.

Did they tell you why they could not fill your prescription? Have you tried Independent Pharmacy's?

Re: BlessedLady (# 1026) Expand Referenced Message

I tried the pharmacy inside Publix today where the pharmacist submitted an order while I was there and told me to come back Tuesday afternoon. I spoke with the pharmacist in person at another nearby Walgreens and explained the situation. He looked me up in the system and saw that I rarely come in for prescriptions, and almost all have come from docs in the ER or an urgent care facility. He said I should try other pharmacies because all Walgreens were having inventory problems since it comes from the same supplier.

I'm not sure what the issue is and didn't what to ask to avoid causing any doubts if I had to return and check next week. I can only guess that they are either being limited to X amount per store, region or possibly across the board because of either changes in policies and procedures or they actually do have a supply problem. Like I said, I don't if that's the case here with Walgreens, but I had similar experiences with CVS, Walmart, Costco and some other local mom & pop stores yesterday.

Having never taken it before, I'm just going on dealing with my issues, or avoiding them, like I've always have. If and when I do start taking it, and it works, it would be interesting to see how I'm going to get the same refilled if my doc sees improvement or another dosage if necessary. In either case, after reading some of the experiences shared on the board, it's not going to be fun. I'm already picturing myself, after trying every pharmacy in S Florida, driving out to the middle of the Everglades, where it's 96 degrees in the shade, and as a last resort checking if by chance there's any available at the I Love Jesus Sanctified Beauty Parlor and Auto Parts Store. And depending how that goes, there's still the possibility that this search may lead me further into the middle of the swamp on an airboat; only to find myself knee-deep in alligator s*** while being eaten alive by mosquitoes so big they can stand flat-footed and f$%^ a turkey, thinking if it might be a good idea, seeing how I'm already here, to give up on this mad quest for Adderall and direct my efforts to something more productive, like picking up where Ponce DeLeon left off and continue forward in search of the Fountain of Youth. Either scenario is possible and equally mindlessly futile.

If the order does not come in. You need to go forget the chain pharmacies and try Independent Pharmacy's.

Are you saying your Adderall prescription was written by a er or quick care doctor?

Re: BlessedLady (# 1028) Expand Referenced Message

No, just prescriptions written in the past. I seem to be one of those hard-headed idiots, who despite having health insurance and seeing a doctor regularly (like normal folks), would rather drown in a river in Egypt (DeNile) until I finally decide it's time to drive myself to the ER at 4am because I can't take the pain in the lower left side of my body and I'm sweating, like Mike Tyson in a spelling-bee, from a fever of a 104.

You are a hilarious story teller! I had a similar experience with the independent store that filled my Adderall for years pre-pandemic. I switched to Walgreens so I could pick up at drive through. The independent store pharmacist look at me as if I was there to rob them even though she was holding the written prescription from my psychiatrist of 20 years.. She stated they did not have enough to fill my script, they would not do a partial full, they did not carry 30mg, and I could not have my doctor transfer a new script for the amount they had in stock. I tried 3 other independent pharmacies all of which said they were not taking new customers. I assumed they meant Adderall customers. I returned to my Walgreens and received the horrible white 20mg pills by Mallikrodt. I have other psychological disorders and do not normally drive more than 2 miles from home since I have cataracts. If you can get by without taking, I recommend foregoing the hassle until this issue goes away, if it goes away. I have so many things to take care of and have severe executive dysfunction which these generic do not help me overcome.

Yes tried three pharmacies today all on backorder. One said they would have it after memorial day, other two had no idea when it would be in.

Ironically, I'm too ADD on my RHODES brand generic Adderall IR to read these posts. Publix usually gives me TEVA as their preferred generic and they switched me to Rhodes, which means supply chain shifted from TEVA. Sorta thought it was an OK substitute, unlike AURO which makes me sick and triggers migraines. Anyhow, since Thursday, sleeping a lot, headache, coffee and RHODES Adderall, still sleepy, spacey, unfocused, anxious, depressed (last two usually result from being unfocused and brain foggy and suddenly noticing my body getting mishapen from metabolic change of less energy, lethargy).

Anyone try Rhodes?

I usually take straight Teva/Barr Dextroamphetamine Sulfate 10mg tabs...for 15 years....till AURO got involved. Now I switch between generic Adderall and generic Dexededrine.

I'll be picking up a script for MALLIINKRODT Dexededrine, straight Dextroamphetamine Sulfate, no mixed salts. Like all manufacturers, MALLIINKRODT was once ok, and now people have mixed experiences. Anyone?

Bottom line is that McKesson, AmerisourceBergen and Cardinal supply all the pharmacies and each supplier has different supply, demand, availability and brand. So it depends who your pharmacy uses. Also, ALL teledoc scripts are being held up, so unless you use a regular doc vs Cerebral Tele-MD, you're not first in line. It's gotten out of control with variety of manufacturers, inconsistency of quality, and shortages.

My fiancé and I are having the same problems I thought it might be because we switched to a pharmacy closer to home. I was thinking maybe it was because they had to order more with a new consumer they needed to have more in stock, but I see now it’s a way bigger problem than I realized. Awesome of them to put out an alert about it, now we have to go at attention to any different side effects from the new medication. It may be generic but more then once people have experienced weird side effects from generic they say it’s the same but it’s definitely not

Most people notice a difference with generic Adderall brands. Note that sometimes they say backorder but they mean YOUR dosage. So I've asked the same pharmacist "Do you have any other strength in stock?". OFTEN they say yes!!
So my doctor just gives me 30mg tabs that I can split as needed.

Re: Bp01 (# 1020) Expand Referenced Message

Yep, I was first prescribed Adderall through Cerebral. I actually encountered those articles you posted when I was struggling to get my meds filled at CVS earlier this month and panicking about it. I was frantically googling all sorts of paranoid stuff, which I (freakishly) ended up being right about. I was told they were out of stock for an entire week, but I had a gut feeling they weren't being honest with me. The article about CVS and most major chain pharmacies delaying Cerebral prescriptions pretty much confirmed my fear, so I broke down and went to my GP and got a prescription. Much less shady and much more reliable.

To their credit, Cerebral really helped me at a low time in my life, when I couldn't be bothered to go to an actual doctor or see a psych but was very mentally unwell and a wreck. It's actually crazy how successfully I've been able to turn my life around with this stuff. But yes, from my experience, ol' Cerebral is a very reckless company and deserve the hellstorm they are getting. I got prescribed in March, and toward the end of April is when s*** really hit the fan for them. I was with them for 3 months, and was prescribed a fresh batch of Adderall each monthly check-up. My first prescription was filled with ease, and I drove off with my pills the first trip through the pharmacy drive-thru. Second time, they were "out of stock" for like 4 days, and it screwed me up so badly that I had an uncontrollable urge to post about it on a forum. Hence the name I'm using here. My third, and FINAL prescription never got filled. That's the Cerebral life. I saw the downfall in real time and it was disastrous for me. It's ramping up more and more. The whole service will be gone in a few months. I got an email from Cerebral just today, saying CVS has officially stopped filling their prescriptions for controlled substances.

Since I'm getting actual care now, this doesn't concern me anymore. What does concern me, is how I've been trying to cancel my subscription for about a week now, and have had NO success. It has been an absolute reach-around. You have to email them a "cancellation request" and basically just hope and pray that some anonymous Cerebral underling will actually go in and cancel it for you. And there's no other way to contact anyone. Their "press 1" ass phone number is fully automated, with no number selection making it possible to speak with an actual person. The robo-call tells you to check the website, and the website tells you to call the number. It's been 5 days since I sent my email and I've heard nothing back, I'm going to basically be robbed of 85 dollars in about 2 days unless they miraculously come through. Which they won't, because they're creepy, and they're trying to bleed as many people dry as possible before they go under. Absolutely sinister. It's seedy and all the bad things about it are true. I kinda got my foot in the door at the right time, before it all got crazy, because it made transitioning over to actual in-person care easier for me. I also got out at precisely the right time. It was a very stressful process and I should've just gone to my GP in the first place. Still, I appreciate Cerebral for existing at the time that it did. As I currently see things, It all worked out for the best. In my case, anyway. They probably killed a few people. Nice work, Simone Biles.

I have to fill up my scripts next week. Took nearly 4 hours to find a pharmacy last time. The lack of replies recently has me hopeful, but I have to ask - does the Adderall supply chain appear to be getting back to normal?

I'm like a week away from my fill date and already pumped full of so much anxiety that I can't sleep.
