Ambien/klonopin For 2+ Yrs - Help!

Hi all,

ive been taking ambien for 2+ years pretty regularly (10mg, sometimes 20), and klonopin pretty regularly for 1.5 years (lower dose). sometimes, i have even had to combine the two to get to sleep.

i stopped cold turkey about 10 days ago, and am having a really rough time. sleep is getting a little better each night, but not much. for a few days, i felt like a cloud was lifted and felt amazing. now, im feeling pretty depressed.

how long should i expect this to last?

It could take a month, or more, until your body completely adjusts to no longer having the medication.

Even if you don't abuse a medication and only take it as prescribed, your body still becomes used to having it and can develop dependence on that substance.

I have taken 10 mg Ambien in every night for 15 years and .5 mg Klonopin every so often for 5 years. Take it from someone who is very experienced with different narcotics: you will not sleep right ever again. Period. End of discussion. I was in the trials for Ambien due to chronic insomnia. Ambien was developed for short term cures for insomnia, not chronic. But, through my trials, with the help of my physician, it was decided to try Ambien to treat chronic insomnia. I was the guinea pig. And I am the reason that Ambien is for acute suffers of insomnia. I think I am one of only a few users who have to take it 365 days a year for the rest of our lives. I have been put in sleep studies and was once awake during one study for 140 hours.

I fear this is what will happen to me when and if I ever get off it. I have been taking it every night for 5-6 yrs. I really want to get off of it but I cannot sleep without it. I'm going to partake in a sleep study if I can ever get in. Im guessing I would be advised or not allowed to take it during the study right? I already know I'm not gonna be able to sleep without it so I'm not sure what a sleep study could actually tell me. What are your thoughts on this?
