Clozapine / Schizophrenia (Page 2)

Updated

My son has been in the Hospital for 6 weeks for schizophrenia. He is on his fourth medicine (clozapine). The first week he was taking 25mg, then 50mg & only heard voices a little, now going on his 3rd week and almost up to 200mg and the voices are stronger and getting a little violent. Is this normal?

Re: Venus (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Venus or anyone reading this,
Was the Salus Silver used for schizophrenia in particular? My brother suffers from severe mental illness which the doctors have multiple diagnosis for...His current doctor believes its schizophrenia. He has been on every medication under the sun with no results. They are looking to put him on Clozapine as a last resort and after doing research, I can't seem to find peace doing that to him....Can you please help explain how Salus silver is beneficial for this illness? My online research hasn't produced much info in regards to how it can affect schizo...Thanks so much.

Re: A concerned parent (# 23) Expand Referenced Message

Thanks Venus for the reply. I also read your comment about Dr. Amen. Called the office and now have the 30 minute phone consultation this Wednesday. Any advice? What was your experience? It is incredible incredibly pricey but I’m in desperation mode....Willing to try anything aside from Clozaril...

Re: A concerned parent (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

My mom is given shots of investa consta or sustena or something like that and it makes her so much worse. The voices don’t come, but she feels vibrations and hears buzzing and in her mind it’s electrical stimulation of the air or sonic weapons or something, and while she had some of these delusions before the shots they’ more frequent and more terrifying to her since the shots.

The main difference is that the shots seem to sedate her so she’s not calling her doctors complaining about her symptoms, or organized enough to try to get a second opinion. She did well on lithium and I think the only reason she gets these shots is so they can bill for a visit and the dispensing of the medication. Probably a medication mark up as well. I just know it makes her worse and she can’t refuse it because she’s on a conditional release from the state hospital. If she’s not compliant she gets put back in.
