I would like to know 18 mg of Concerta is like, compared to other ADHD medication. I used to take Adderall 20mg xr, but that was about 6 years ago. I have struggled through out these past years not realizing it was because I stopped treatment. I've heard some things about Concerta, but I'm not sure if it will benefit me the same as the Adderall did for me in the past. Any advice would be appriciated! ## Chalet , the only way to know if a particular drug will benefit you is to try it. Talk to your doctor. If your doctor will prescribe Concerta and it does not work well. Hopefully he will prescribe Adderall. ## BL is correct, we are all different and no one can possibly know how any medication will affect any given person that tries it. We can tell you that it could cause side eff...

I take both oxycontin and concerta. I was wanting to know if taking both are too dangerous together? ## Have they both been prescribed for you? The FDA warns that they may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, constipation and depression of the central nervous system. Are you on any other medications?

Hi there, i work in a highly stressful sales/marketing retail job. I've been using urbanol to handle the stress and cycling helps a lot. But i started using concerta to be more productive with the short time i have available for the marketing. Will concerta effect my cycling or should i take it after my morning routine, as i tend to cycle at 75%+ heart rate efficiency "spelling"? Also the concerta seems to promote irritability in me. Should i split my urbanil intake over the day? My dosages are 18mg concerta in the morning, 10mg urbanol at 10ish when the day starts going and again at 1 or whenever i need it through the day. Some hectic days id take 4 urbanol at 2h intervals. Is that not advisable? I do that like once every 2 weeks. ## I have been taking concerta dose 18 and ...

Does anyone have any tips how to not feel horrible from their suppressed appetite? I've been on Concerta in the past and I know I have the hardest time with this side effect whenever my dose is increased. I'm on day 2 on 27mg after a month of 18mg and I literally felt like I was going to puke just trying to eat a grape? I do eat a little before I take it in the morning. Should I just stick to water while I can't eat anything (it usually wears off around 7pm and I get an appetite back) ## These medications can cause suppressed appetite and anorexia, according to FDA reports. You may also experience dizziness headache, nervousness, irritability, and insomnia. It would be best to speak to your doctor, you might need to switch to a different medication. How are you doing, now? H...

I would like to know if anyone had experienced any bowel obstruction with concerta. I have been taking concerta for 4 days now and it works very well for me. My concern is that I had intestinal operations 7 years ago and as a result suffer from intestinal norrowing and occasional bowel obstruction. I can't eat any fibre for this reason and my diet consist of easily digested food. Because the concerta tablet does not dissolve and is non-deformable makes me worried. ## It isn't a listed side effect according to FDA reports. The typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and insomnia. However, it may affect you differently, so you may want to discuss it with your doctor to be cautious. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am on epilim cr 500mg bd. Concerta 54 mg daily and serdep 100 mg nocte. I have severe anxiety and panick attacks. I drink xanor SR 0.5 mg prn, but more daily or twice a day. I still have severe panick attacks and anxiety. Can it be the other medication causing it ## Peanut, ABSOLUTELY concerta can definitely cause anxiety your best bet speak to your doctor and see what he suggests that combination of meds MAY cause anxiety and symptoms of a panic disorder to worsen.

I have ADHD and a prescription for Concerta. I have been taking the generic brand for over a year now called methylphenidate and i take it every single day. The other day at the doctor i was drug tested and it came back negative. Is there a reason why it wouldn't show in my system even though i take it every day?

I have just taken a drug test but also took concerta two hours ago. will I pass? ## Hi Heather - are you talking about the drug Concerta? If so, it can take up to 96 hours or so for it to be fully metabolized (the half life is around 3.5 hours). With that said, it also depends on what the drug test was looking for specifically. Was it a urine test? Blood test? How did it go? Good luck and best wishes! ## No u will fail. I have failed on concerta every month even though I stop it 3 days prior. ## I guess this would be the reason my Dr. is not going to prescribe my hydro morph contin 18 mg as he found Concerta in my urine. I even phoned his secretary to let her know I was recently prescribed this drug by a psychiatrist. I'm just about to loose my mind, due to getting this call late Fr...

I've been on a trial of Concerta for major depressive disorder as anti-depressants alone don't work. I've gone through 26 rounds of ECT (electric shock therapy) which didn't help and being diagnosed as a medical excreter Concerta has been then only thing that has lasted long enough and helped me function. Originally I was on Ritalin, but I hated the roller coaster effects it had on me. I'd be hyper which would last for about 1-2 hours then drop dramatically, then the process would happen another 2 times as I was on 60mg a day which I would take in 20mg does 3 times a day. Eventually I was put onto Concerta 54mg once a day which was better. I've been on Concerta coming up to 4 years and am noticing a decline, however I have recently been changed to Brintellix, after

Please advise the safety aspect of taking tripolene with concerta? 25mg of tripolene is taken at night. 54mg of concerta in morning. Will this produce any side effects ? ## Hello, Jill! How are you? From what I've found they can be taken together, as long as they have both been prescribed for you. However, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even if taken alone. The U.S. FDA lists the typical ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, irritability and mood swings. Is there anything else I can help with?

I work in the medical field. I have had random drug tests and have always tested negative on urine 9 panel. I have been in school for ultrasound. My doctor prescribed methylphenidate 54 MG ER in the A.M, focalin 5mg and 18 mg ER methyphenidate in the afternoon. I recently took a random drug test and tested positive for amphetamines. Can this be a false positive test due to the medication?

Does concerta cause a vit d defiency, vit a elevation, gluten and casien allergies? My daughter shows no symptoms to any of the above but blood tests show these results. Thankyou ## Hello, Bonnie! How is your daughter doing? No, none of those are listed as being side effects of Concerta, by the FDA. It's usual hepatic side effects are listed as including lowered blood cell counts, anemia and easy bruising. What were the numbers that were shown? Sometimes the allergy ones are detected at very low levels, so while the allergy exists, someone doesn't experience symptoms from them. For example, my mother-in-law tested as being allergic to both cats and dogs, but the one for cat dander was slightly higher and different than the one for dogs, so she is able to live with pups just fine.

I had the sink full of dishes and dropped my daughter's pills everywhere. .. thought I had found them all but apparently one pill fell in the dish water... I washed and dried the dishes before I realized the pill was in the dish water. Should I be re washing all those dishes again? ## Hello, Ladygem! How are you? It is highly unlikely that with the dish detergent and drying any of the medication would be on them in enough amounts to affect anyone. It wouldn't hurt to give them an extra rinse to be safe, if you prefer, though. I will also add that I am not a doctor, so it's always best to double check such information to be careful. You may want to make sure that you inform her doctor of what happened, to ensure she doesn't run out early, before her next refill is due. Th...

I have a good friend that takes Cocerta 36.5mg two daily for his ADHD. He has been subjected to a random drug test for 2 months in a row. Both tests have come back for methamphetamines, and I know he is NOT using Meth. This is the first time he has had to test in like 3 years. He also is on Wellbutrin and Abilify. He is on probation, and has to appear in court now. This false positive test could ruin his chance to remain on probation if the courts use these tests. Is there any options? ## Both Concerta (Methylphenidate) and Bupropion (Wellbutrin) are known to cause false positives for Amphetamines. Meth is an Amphetamine, so either of these could very well be the culprit here. If anything, I would consider trying to get your own drug test kit to verify these false positives, or have the ...

I am prescribed 50mg Vyvanse that I take daily incentives 2009. I dropped my last four pills down the sink and when my dr. tests me I won't have any in my system. I took one 54mg concerta before my appointment. Will this show up on the test the same as having taken my Vyvanse? I really don't need to lose my prescription as I really need this medication to function.

Yesterday (Saturday) I took 7 32mg of concerta between 5 pm and 1 am. I have substance abuse classes every Thursday for probation. I'm not sure if they're going to drug test me Thursday but if they do will I piss positive for anything? It's only a 5 panel and my metabolism is higher than most. (Usually get other substances out of my system in no longer than a couple of days.) any suggestions would help! ## Yeah heres a suggestion, stop doing drugs if you have to go to class for them. ## Best advice I can give you is to stop doing drugs.

I been on methylphenidate now for 7 years my psychiatrist has been prescribing it to me now for 7 years and for me taking concerta is like putting on a pair of shiny clean glasses and I can see more clearly. I was on 36mg concerta and thought I might ask my dr to drop the dose to see if I could get more out of it and I did I have now been on 27mg concerta and I have noticed a massive improvement I'm not so jittery, impulsive, don't talk as much as I used to, my behaviour is more mature and I feel so proud of myself. It's been 4 months now on the dose drop fr 36mg to 27mg and i feel more like myself again and the concerta helps me to focus concentrate and function with my add ## Wow, Claudia! I am looking for an over the counter pill that looks like concerta to give my son in place of the real pill. Does anyone know of something safe I can replace it with as an alternative? ## Hi Tom, no judgements here, but may I ask why you are wanting to do this? I don't think you will find a look-a-like per say simply because all prescription medications are required to carry unique markings to identify them. I would also advise highly against altering your son's dosing schedule since any changes with a drug like this should be monitored by their doctor. Do you suspect recreational use or something?
