Discontinued Ketoprofen (Top voted first)

Updated

RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT KETOPROFEN 200 MG EXTENDED RELIEF IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. IS THIS TRUE?

My husband has been on ketoprofen for at least 15 years and has tried other meds for his arthritis. None have worked as well as ketoprofen, he was told by Rite Aid and Walgreen's that it is no longer being made.

I too have not been able to get Ketoprofen, 75 mg. This happened in January 2016, where they stopped making it for nine months and then started again. No explanation was given. Posts at that time advised everyone to call and send emails to Teva, the pharmaceutical company that makes Ketoprofen. So everyone please do that, and maybe they will start making it again. Here is the link: tevapharm.com/contact_us. I take it for chronic myofascial pain and osteoarthritis. I have tried many, many other medications, and Ketoprofen is the only one that helps. I will try the names given above, but I am hoping and praying this is only temporary. In the meantime, everyone bombard them with calls and emails.

Re: mlma (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I contacted Teva. I surprisingly got a reply within a couple of days. Unfortunately, they provided no insight as to why they stopped selling/making it and just said to keep checking back to see if it resumes availability.

Re: Ckonenonly (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

I spoke with a Pharmacist through my mail order prescription plan and he informed me that I should try Oxaprozin 600 mg or Flurbiprofen 100 mg because it is the closest to Ketoprofen chemically.

Boo-boo, I don't know why those stores told you that cause my mother was prescribed a pump bottle earlier this year on 4/20/2016. 120 mg from a 24hr rite aid store.

Re: Jerome (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

I was on 200 extended release Ketoprofen was told by Walgreens it is no longer being manufactured. So I went on Diclofinac and it didn’t go well with me. A specialist I seen way out in Arizona said get the 75mg instead.. I request those and after 4 months, I am being told there is no more in the supply channel and they can’t get it any longer.

Re: Ckonenonly (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

I was just prescribed this by my doctor on Friday. When I stopped by to ask about when my prescription might be filled, they (CVS in Target) said that it's on back order from their distributor, because of an issue with the manufacturer. None of the pharmacies in my area have it in stock, either, so I'm guessing there is some big issue with the manufacturer of the medicine.

Re: mlma (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I sent a note to Teva asking them not to discontinue ketoprofen.

Re: Diane (# 11) Expand Referenced Message

Teva responded right away, saying ketoprofen is currently unavailable and there is no release date at this time. I'm looking into some other NSAIDs: Flurbiprofen, Oxaprozin and Dexketoprofen. If anyone has insight into these meds, please post here.
