Updated

My pain management doc got investigated and now hes closed his practice down. I was getting 30mg oxycodone 5 times a day and morphine 15mg 2 times a day. Does anybody know a doctor in huntsville alabama that will keep me on my meds, need answer ASAP!

I passed along the info because the man has obviously been over medicated. And just because his doctor was a pill pusher, doesn't mean the patient should suffer. Aren't we here to help each other. And the doctors at Tennessee valley will not write any prescriptions unless his injuries or ailments warrant such medications. Not only do they treat, they try to heal through physical therapy and surgery. Its a great clinic, but they will not push meds.

I have read where a lot of people are coming down on Aggarwal. That's your right. However, I being one of his patients needed and used my medications the way prescribed and I had such a better quality of life. I am on 100% disability after working most of my adult life. I did get another pain Dr. and he is very caring and compassionate so far. It took my Rhuematologist to get me in but thank the good Lord above I did get in to another one. For anyone to have to suffer withdrawals is so cruel and inhumane. What the DEA should have done, in my opinion, was to get another Dr. or Dr's to fill his place until the patients with real problems could find another Dr. Being in withdrawals and in chronic pain is unbearable. Please if anyone reads this and has anything nasty to say just think "No one is guaranteed that one day you may be in chronic pain yourself".. I certainly wouldn't wish this on anyone.

By reading all these posts I guess I am lucky because my Dr gives me 10 mg oxycodone 3 x a day. I'm in TN but yall have me scared that this will trickle down to TN although it partly has because it's very hard finding a Dr that will give me oxycodone but I guess II got lucky. The DEA are not Drs so how can they tell a Dr what to prescribe a pt. I may write a petition on the white house website. Makes me wonder how much Obama has to do with this because isn't that about the time all this started when he was elected?

AMEN! Thank you! If someone is suffering because there doctor is out of business, the chronic pain combined with the withdrawal is indeed unbearable! I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy! If we can help someone out that is in true crisis, then its our duty! I was a firemedic for 25yrs before being injured. I have seen drug abuse in every form. Even if a person brought it on themselves, "not to say the gentleman in this thread has done this" but just in general. Even if they brought it on themselves, we should still have compassion on our fellow man! Im not worried about telling where I go. If a patient doesn't have the medical history to support being prescribed strong pain killers, then the professional staff of Tennessee valley pain consultants will spot it. So again, try Tennessee rally, they will help.

Now in Gadsden they have shut down pain managements that were there for years. Before long there won't be any pain managements left in Gadsden, AL. The most recent shut down was really unfair. The doctor jumped through hoops to meet the DEA guidelines. Cutting patients back within DEA standards. This made a lot of patients mad but the doctor was trying to keep their license and prevent this from happening. There was another pain Managment in the area that had been open for years as well, but they weren't cutting patients back or following guidelines that was shut down around a month or two before. I know people that went to both. When this happened the doctor that has just got shut down took in a lot of the the other doctor's patients because they needed a place to go. I have a feeling that this doctor that wasn't following the regulations got the other doctor in trouble because they were jealous they had lost their license. These doctors started out roughly around the same time in the area both working for another pain Managment (was the largest in Gadsden that was shut down back around 2013 although they did reopen under other doctors but the main doctor got in trouble for pushing epidurals blocks on people and possibly pretending to preform them and now they are closed again I think). The point is if the 3 biggest pain managements in that area have been systematically closed down in the last 5 years, where are the people supposed to go. There are not enough pain managements in the area to accommodate people. Also if one of these (the latest to be closed) was following everything and being super careful then what chance do other pain managements have? And this is just in Gadsden, this isn't counting all the pain clinics in other places in AL being closed down. The DEA along with the Governor, and our President are going to end up pushing people to illicit drugs and we will have a huge epidemic in AL. Some may move (but I hear this isn't just AL where this is happening, I heard it was a lot of states in the USA) and some may get on methadone going to a MMT or go on suboxone but with MMT costing $12-$16 a day and suboxone also being expensive, a lot of people will turn to the cheapest route to get out of pain and sadly that would be illicit drugs. It is sad that our government would prefer people to be on illegal drugs instead of a closely monitored safe environment getting the medicine they need.

I may not have a doctor I can refer you guys to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service in so far as finding pain management doctors within your general area...

Just input your city or zip code for narrowed results:
{link removed because site no longer exists}

wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist

I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients.

I hope this info helps and wish you all good luck on finding the right doctor!

Until all the pain patients in AL start really raising hell with Montgomery and the Medical examiner's office? Everyone will be stuck suffering for God knows how long. AL sounds just as bad as what's happening in TN. Your human rights for pain care are being trampled upon.
Start fighting back! If patients don't join together to fight back against these inhumane acts that are being done to citizens, the future for AL pain management is very bleak and probably will not exist much longer if you allow it. All these politicians who are causing so many to suffer need to be voted OUT! United together we stand, divided you fall!

It's time to push for the National Pain Strategy to be implemented. It's been on the Senate table since 2009. Alabama's Government is causing severe harm to all suffering legitimate chronic pain patients in this state! Stand up for your Rights. Stop allowing the government to take away your quality of life.

Never go to Tennessee valley pain consultants as they only do procedures. Inj's. are the leading causes of a very rare disease called Arachnoiditis. It is a debilitating, horrific disease and it is non-curable. Keep away from Dr. John Roberts.

Go up to Athens, Dr. Davis and Dr. Stevens. They prescribe 90 30mg Roxy's which is generally the maximum you will get these days from doctors especially when first starting out until they can justify increasing it anywhere past that...however that is quite rare. I'm sure I'll hear some i****s saying, "Oh I get 150 Roxys monthly..." but don't believe them, because its malarkey!

As I said, I used the above doctors...only problem is they charge you $500 upfront, although it does cover the first visit...every visit after that is around $165 as they charge you for UA fees...but will take your insurance. There is definitely some sort of scam going on though where they charge your insurance and then ask you for cash for paying for the UA also...who knows...you still get your meds.

Thought that was obvious. What happened to people being able to keep their mouth shut??????

Unfortunately, writing to the white house won't help. Obama believes docs have over medicated the pin patient population, and there is no future lawsuit that will force anyone to give patients "their pills back". The docs who over medicated are getting their licenses yanked. Yes, patients suffer, but you need to blame the doctors who wrote the rx in the first place, not the DEA. Now, docs not willing to write rx's for any pain meds at all for legit patients are themselves to blame or being bullied by the DEA. It's highly unlikely, unless you have a very painful type of cancer, that you will find another doc willing to prescribe both those drugs and in those doses, but that shouldn't matter- only taking what works for your pain should.

William, if you have chronic pain and have records to back it up then try North Alabama Pain Clinic. The Dr. there is so compassionate and caring. The only thing is on your first visit you better make sure that you talk to him really good and ask all questions that may concern you because after that you will only see the nurses. I am so glad that he is here because I cannot suffer the rest of my life.
