Hon, you should call the Alabama Medical Board Examiners and let THEM tell you what to do. With no transportation I can see how frustrating this is to you. You nor should anyone have to suffer like you are. I wish I could give you more advice but with the way Alabama is ran by our Senators, Governor, etc. they seem to think that people don't suffer and don't need any medicine to take which is complete BS. I am praying for you and HOPEFULLY you can get into a Dr.

Dr. Aggawal was a god send to my husband. But now we have to go to Tennessee Valley Pain Clinic and Dr. Gantt sucks. He told us to see this back surgeon and then he might adjust my husbands meds depends on what the back surgeon told us. Well the back surgeon told us that there is nothing he could do my husband's back was too bad off. So we go see the Pain Dr. and he said that he won't ajust anything. My question is why did you make my husband go see a surgeon if you wasn't going to do anything? I think that it is a play with insurance money. Now I am trying to find another doctor that will help him.

Good job. Those who are haters in here should be disregarded. It's YOUR PERSONAL CHOICE who to listen to. It's your personal choice to take what fits and leave the rest. Haters please leave. There are a lot of good people in here looking for REAL answers. They don't want to be judged. All I can say is..."when someone attacks you? They're usually acting out their own weaknesses" so keep that in mind as you read the responses in this site.

You may and probably are right in saying that some people may not really need the pain medicine but I can assure you that many people do need pain medication. I wish that the state I live in would legalize MEDICAL MARIJUANA. I know my best friend moved to Colorado and she is doing so much better with the MM. She is off pain medication and is finally living more of a normal life....

I understand your pain. If some of the people in the DEA ever experienced just some of the pain we as chronic pain patients have to go through 24/7 then in my opinion they would be more passionate. Yes, I understand they are doing there job but people have pain and the way they are handling things then Pain Doctors are going to be far and few to find. I have heard that some of the people that are attending college now to become Pain Management Doctors are changing their minds and are just going to be regular Doctors now. It's such a shame. This is suppose to be THE LAND OF THE FREE... I say BS on that. This nation is becoming communist. Before to long the gov't will be controlling all of us unless we take a stand. Just my opinion....

Health care in America is twice as expensive as in any other country. America's quality of health care puts us at 37th from the top as far as quality of care goes. The notion that people come to America for health care is waaaay outdated. The number one nation for quality of health care is France; NOT the USA. May have been at one time, but no more. Gotta get past the old data and move on. What Obama gave us is NOT socialized health care. What he gave us is more profitable health insurance companies, and is making us pay to make them more profitable. France, among the many, like Israel, and the U.K. DOES have socialized medicine, and it is way far cheaper for much better care than what we now get in the U.S. I have a friend who lives in the U.K. I asked her how much the British government takes from her every month to cover her monthly premium for health care. Her payment each month? 15 British Pounds, or in the US equivalent, her health care costs her about $26 U.S. Dollars each month. No co-pays, no deductibles, no other expenses. She takes her national health care card to the doctor or the pharmacy, shows it, and is given treatment or medication. She never has to fill out a single form, or pay anything other than that $26 per month premium. Same thing in France, Israel, Germany...on and on. We are getting seriously ripped off and lied to in the good old USA as far as health care goes.

It seems all conversation on this thread is about everything EXCEPT pain care and who needs help with finding doctor! How horrible!
Isn't there any doctors in that town who isn't apart of some huge money making, shot jockey, out fitters? There has to be some private pain doctors who really care about patients and not about needles. Unless Alabama has turned into Florida. Every state is trying to go over board with cutting out pain care! When are Alabamians and their doctors going to stand up for the suffering? UNREAL!

And it's happening now. The cops and government need to leave doctors and their patients alone and crack down on the illicit drug dealers.

She just got shut down. I think we all need to go to Alexander Shennara (?sp) and file a civil rights or ADA legal case. I am not a lawyer obviously. But not having the ability to have pain relief, especially when you a documented illness (cancer, muscular dystrophy---ie MS, MG, ALS, neuropathy, etc) is definitely a problem.

I have 13 degenerative disabilities in my back, neck and head and after struggling and being bedridden for ten years I found a provider that would prescribe four 30mg oxycodone a day. I am in shock that you got five 30mg oxycodone plus two 15mg morphines a day. I'm in Washington State and have fought for my life to get a therapeutic dose just to have it taken away again, making me bedridden. I'm so sick of this torture by the government and CDC.

Scott, the HIPPA law doesn't apply to this situation, and pain pills are not needed to survive. To live a better life, yes. But if you're not able to get any pain meds at all, that's not the DEA causing it. If you go to multiple pain physicians and none give you rx's, then you either don't have medical proof of a need for them or you have displayed drug seeking behavior. If you ask for narcotics by name, stop. You will never get them. Otherwise, it's simply a few doctors afraid of the DEA that refused them. Others won't if you actually need them.

Kristy, some people will NEVER understand chronic pain. There isn't even no need in trying to explain to some people. For some reason people try to be Doctors like some people in our State do. It's so pathetic. Each person knows there own body and how they feel. I liked Dr. Aggarwal. He tried his best to help me and he did. He couldn't help that others misused their medications are whatever they did. Whatever the reasons were that he got shut down the Board should have put some other Dr's in his place instead of the way it was handled... Lots of thoughts and concern to the many people, such as myself, that really hurt and need pain relief....

You make a valid point: the DEA is not a bunch of doctors. However, one of the duties of the DEA is to try to curtail illegal drug diversion, including diversion of drugs related to doctors writing prescriptions for excessive amounts of units of controlled substances.

I can't think of a single FDA-approved drug that doesn't list guidelines for typical dosing. Occasionally, a paient may need a dose that's higher or lower than the doses listed in dosing guidelines - this is an exception, not the norm. Some of the Rx instructions that I've read on these message boards (which could simply be made up by the person positing it) are far out of line from typical prescribing instructions. The most notable Rx's that are far from being a typical prescribed dose are some of the alleged prescriptions people claim they received from a doctor. Sometimes a high dose of narcotics is needed for severe pain, BUT ... high doses of narcotics depress the respiratory system and can be fatal. I have serious doubts that some of the prescriptions described by people on this message board are real ... some of them would be euthanasia, not pain relief.

I use Neurology Associates, they require medical history, but if you have a neurological problem with pain history they will prescribe. Good luck I hope you find some help soon.

That is a lot of medicine but ive seen people get way more like 10 times and he will find another doctor to write the prescription, if he has the records. It doesn't look good bringing prescription history to a new doctor and saying would you continue me on this my last doctor was shutdown! lol aggerwall was really giving out a lot of medicine to some people but I wonder what it takes for the DEA to shut you down? I mean some doctors I know of have been prescribing like that for years but they always have Xrays MRIs and justification. There use to be a doctor in Fayetteville, TN who prescribed more medicine than I thought was legal. I have disc problems bulging from car wreck and take nothing right now but have. He treated a friend of mine and once it cost over 3000$ to fill all of his medicine brand name. He said once the police was harassing him and said why are you corrupting our town here with overmedicating and he told him youre out there arresting people who commit crimes to get dope and I just give them enough so that they wont run out. Well they shut his tail down.
