Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Top voted first)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Give me your email and I'll send you a copy of my MRI. That's pretty ridiculous that you come on here accusing me of lying. I find that very offensive. Degenerative disc disease is only one of the many problems. I didn't post on this website to hear people telling me that I'm not telling the truth. Unbelievable

I have personal experience, he is my current pain doc and he believes if it works why change it. As long as u have ur current medical records with or without mri (unless its a back thing then u probably need a mri) he will write you for what u want and knows works for you. I thought it was a clinic like you hear about the doc writing for whatever without a care and shady but its not and you would like the doc he actually listens and doesn't push anything else on u. I would rather not say what I am on but the first time I went in I told him what works and he said the let's do that. He also has a clinic in ducan, ok.

I have an appt. this friday with a doctor I found online earlier today so if he doesn't work out I will run through the list of doctors on that doctors for pain website. Thanks again David. It's crazy how it seems the people who have no need for the pain meds and just sell them always seem to be able to find plenty of ways to get them.

There is one clinic that is in wheat ridge, co right out of denver called colorado pain relief # 303-456-4882 if you call today then they might be able 2 get u in this week. The dr just asks u what works for u and then that is what u walk out with. But its 200 for ur first visit then 150 after that. But its pretty good and he listens very well. Hopeu call him or u have one now since I know its ben awhile since this board.

No I still haven't found one. I have gone to a couple and they all seem like they're too scared. I really hope neither of you are people who abuse pain meds, because people who abuse them are the entire reason that people like me who TRULY need them can't find them to save my life. It's truly disgusting to me. All the people that abuse them just completely ruin it for everyone else. I can't stand junkie ass people

Just because you don't have real pain and are hooked doesn't mean everyone else is. Before you make a messed up comment about people you don't know and haven't lived in their shoes you should check yourself. You don't know what a pain in the ass it is to find a doctor that doesn't say its deppression or they don't know what it is just to turn around and say oh crap its stage 4 cancer and nothing we can do because they think like you. If you feel guilty for your own addiction then do something but don't sit on your high horse thinking that "oh if I'm addicted then everyone who takes them are too" and then make people who have enough on their plate feel bad and add more stress you should be ashamed of yourself and need to leave inocent people alone. Get a life and quit being a bully, and one day I hope you get to feel the pain of everyone that you have hurt physically or by words.

Thank you so much, I do wish you lots of luck and I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything.

I had a similar experience with my last doctor, so many people abusing it that he was just over it, he kept giving me mine though because I had undergone all the testing to back me up and never asked over the years for him to give me anything stronger but now that I have moved here to CO I am having a prob finding a doc who doesn't mind making a legit person just comfortable. That's all I want, comfort so I can work and take care of my kids, it's hard to function otherwise and everyone in my life suffers.

Thank you Tammy. It's truly amazing how ignorant and judgmental people can be when they are doing the very thing they are judging. The human mind blows me away sometimes. The self-centeredness is mind boggling. And even when they have NO reason whatsoever to be doing what they're doing, they still want to point the finger at other people who are doing things the right way. I think it's a defense mechanism to make themselves feel better about their hypocrisy. But hey, it doesn't matter because we know who we are and that we are justified in the things that we do. It just sucks that they are the reason things are so hard on us. Hey KILLA. I truly hope some day you feel the pain that I have to feel on a daily basis, because obviously you have never felt it and you definitely deserve to feel it. It doesn't last for a couple days, a couple weeks, or even a couple months. It's day after day after week after month after year. CONSTANTLY!!!! From the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep. EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!! Obviously you've never had chronic pain if you're sitting around talking this nonsense to people who you don't even know. If you weren't just a dope fiend you would have compassion and understanding for people in our kinds of situations. But instead, you think everyone is a druggie like you and couldn't POSSIBLY have pain, so they must just be junkies like you. You don't even have a reason to take them and you still do. Not everyone is like you just taking them for recreation. And people like you who take them to get high are the reason people like me and the rest of the chronic pain patients WHO ARE LEGITIMATE have such a hard time finding a good doctor and are looked at like junkies when we're just doing our best to get through each day, one day at a time. I am only 21, and I have the back of a 60 year old. An easy 8 or 9 out of 10 on a pain scale when I am not able to take meds. And I will never be back at 100%. So check yourself next time before you start running your mouth. 6 + Herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, arthritis in my facet joints, spinal stenosis and scoliosis and I don't have any pain???? I'm just a dope fiend???? HAHAHA. I'm holding a steady 3.8 GPA and in the honors society for my college, while still having to fight the battle of chronic pain daily. You couldn't live in my shoes for a day. You would break down and crack. So go enjoy being healthy, because the people who you feel the need to insult because of your addiction don't have that luxury. And next time you want to judge people who you don't know, do yourself a favor and DON'T!!!! It only solidifies your stupidity in the minds of those you're insulting. You're truly, TRULY ignorant. Grow up child. Grow up.

Thank you. I actually found a Dr. who has been helping me. But I will keep this one as a backup FOR SURE. He really just asks you what works for you and writes it? Do you know what sort of amounts? And so I take it they don't accept insurance because of how much it costs huh?

Thank you. The last pain management doc that I went into said right off the bat "Oh you're way too young to be on this stuff, you need to get on Suboxone to get off of this stuff." Obviously he COMPLETELY knows what has worked for my pain for the last 4 years and what hasn't. Some doctors are so ridiculous. Talk about God complex; they know EVERYTHING about you and what is best for you, hahaha. But ya hopefully they aren't like him, he seriously made me feel so demeaned and insulted. If only they had a tiny idea of what it is like to live with crippling chronic pain then maybe they wouldn't be so hard headed. It just sucks that it is hard for people like me who really need meds to get them because of all the people who abuse them. But I guess unless I can get a specific doctor that I KNOW will be a good fit I will just have to go to doc after doc until I find the right one. I really appreciate your help. I almost feel like an internal medicine doctor would be better than a pain management doc but I guess I will just have to go to a bunch. Thanks again!

Just as many people that are out there who abuse them there are many who simply need them to control pain and function...I am one of them. I have been on them for years and still only take about 4 a day (5 mg)...5 on a bad day because I just want to knock the edge off NOT feel all high and out of it, I can't stand to feel that way, just normal is all I'm looking for and hoping someone can point me in the direction of a doc. Thanks

And Janet, I definitely feel where you are coming from. It is incredibly frustrating to be the victim in a situation which you have no control over. I can't control what conditions I have, nor that people abuse these drugs. But I shouldn't be punished nor should any other chronic pain patient because of what other people choose to do.

First of all you are right you don't know me and yes opiates work for pain. But not for mine. My prescription said LORTAB 5/500 mg. where I'm from we call those 5's so EXCUUUSE me for not being the PDR that you are. Just like what Tammy said if it's working for you then stick to what works. I was a long haul truck driver and because of being on medication for my back I had to quit and work behind a desk doing dispatch. And it is extremely painful sitting all day. I don't eat 4 or 5 a day. I take one in the morning one around lunch and one at night to help me sleep..I'm not on 50 different pills and Xanax and all that other crap you are on. I also have a gunshot wound I got in a hunting accident 10 yrs ago and still have a bullet in my arm. I didn't discount your pain and you have no right to discount mine. I'm not telling you to go take a Tylenol for your problem. I do have X-rays and mri's for my condition. So you don't like being judged and neither do I. I work for the US Military and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't employ a dope fiend. Check your stats before you pass judgment on anyone. Thank tou

Your the 4 yr old cause you've got as much knowledge of what you're talking about. And as much as you preach about drug addicts it seems to me you're the drug addict who has nothing better to do than sit on here and berate other people and misinform others. Seems like all you're doing is doctor shopping to get as many pills as you possibly can. Get a life jackass

The way these posts are heading are rather bothersome to me! It feels more like a where can you get the most rather than being a forum to help others get the help they need! I do feel it's been run a long time by one person recommending one place and I do feel that people need several resources rather than one! Not all folks needs are the same and what one clinic focuses on one area and another different ones does work! But this "how much did you get" and "what did you get" changes the flavor of supporting people and getting people to a Dr! I find it very disappointing at best!

Hey all...I told everyone about Dr. Hong because people are begging for help and I hear about people committing suicide because of lack of help! He is a caring dr and can help a true pain patient! And I'm glad those you have found help with him through my giving his name found it by me giving it to them! I wish people would have done that for me instead of me wasting months of pain and research to find him. I also said he DOES NOT put up with illegal activity or dirty u/a's! I also said he helps true pain patients with legit conditions! I never implied he was anything other than this! He is NOT! He will spot you and boot you at the first sign of anything other than being this! He cares and treats you as a human being instead of an animal not worth the ground he walks on like most doctors. I'm always willing to help a fellow friend in the chronic pain community. That's why I am active ambassador with the Pain Society. I will be having a petition coming out soon to the news administration once Trump gets elected and the news congress comes in. Please sign when it comes out to help us all!
