I'm sorry, but really that's about the average for most specialists.

Do you have insurance to cover it?

Learn more Norco details here.

Can anyone else suggest someone that may be a bit cheaper?

The only other suggestion I can make, if you don't have insurance, is to contact your local hospitals and see if they have a social work department. The people there often have a list of resources to help people that don't have insurance, so they can get the medical care they need.

They may even know of a clinic that can help that has a sliding fee scale.

Who is the doctor in Joplin? I live in Joplin, MO and have been to countless pain management specialists that only want to do invasive procedures. I've tried everything from surgery to non-narcotic meds, physical therapy and even a pain psychologist. Nothing but the narcotic pain relievers help. Without them, I have no quality of life. Does anyone know of anyone near Joplin who will give a darn about the pain I'm in and write prescriptions to help?

sadly no one will help you here. If I knew a name of a doc I'd certainly share it but Joplin MO is just like that. I suffer many of the same problems and NADA...you get called all sorts of things by those that know nothing of the situation ! Best of luck and if you do find someone please let me know and I will certainly do the same .

I TAMMY ROSA~GANS A CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT IS STARTING TO SIGN THIS PETITION THAT STANDS UP FOR THE RIGHTS OF LEGITIMATE CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS WITH SERIOUS ILLNESS TO BE PRESCRIBED PAIN MEDICATION FROM DOCTORS.

I would also like to sign your petition. I've been on narcotic pain medication for over 15yrs and just recently got kicked out of my pain dr's office. Long story short, I caught my brother and sister-in-law in my lock box that I kept my pain medication in trying to steal some of them so I called the police and kicked them out out of my home. A week later I get a call from my pain Dr telling me she was dropping us because she had received phone calls stating that we were selling our pills which was just not true but Dr Lou was out on vacation when this all took place. She never even gave us a chance to defend ourselves. We took UA's basically every month and always passed. Now because of her we are having a hard time finding another Dr. If anyone knows of a pain Dr that could help please message me at {edited for privacy}. Thanks

I live ijn Joplin and am having the same problem. Doctor's here are very anti-narcotic meds, no matter how much pain you are in. Dr. Cynthina Croy will give you Norco, but don't ask for it over the phone. Call and request an appointment with her.

If you are willing to drive to Fort Scott, Pittsburg, KS, Dr. Rick Kelllenberger is willing to prescribe paon meds for you -- and once you are addicted he confinently will let you detox in his office using medication. He seems very compassionate and caring and genually interested in you. Fort Scott is about 45 minutes to an hour from Joplin.

You will probably have to travel to Tulsa. Its VERY common for people from Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri to travel here so the Dr won't think anything of it.
The Dr I use prescribes 60 mg Oxycontin 2 X Daily and;
Oxycodone 20mg 5 X Daily.
They only require that you see them every 3 Months and they WILL mail your refill prescriptions to you.
It's called Pain Mgmt of Tulsa. Google pmoftulsa
Good Luck and don't forget, Oklahoma DOES have a PMP (prescription monitoring program so DO NOT TRY TO DOUBLE DIP IN THIS STATE or the Cops will be waiting for you at the Pharmacy.

Do you need a referral to see a doctor at this Tulsa pain clinic? Thank you for taking time to reply to.my question. I am in severe pain every day and you obviously know Joplin doctors won't prescribe anything that will really help.

I WOULD LOVE TO SIGN YOUR PETITION. IT IS NOT FAIR FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY NEED PAIN MANAGEMENT MEDICINES. I WAS IN FATALITY CAR ACCIDENT IN 2013 AND MY BODY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AND ITS SO HARD RIGHT NOW TO GET A DR TO PRESCRIBE MEDICINES BECAUSE OF THE ONES WHO ACTUALLY ABUSE IT! I WOULD LOVE TO SIGN THE PETITION!!

Yes, I know a great doctor that I go to in St. Louis. I go every 4 months to be examined and get my scripts. I know it's a long way to drive, but it's worth it to get the relief you need. I've had chronic pain for 25 years and I have to have narcotics for pain. We retired here from the St. Louis area 6 months ago because this area is where family is. No one would treat me except in Springfield and they weaned me off Fentanyl patches and my life has went down hill. I'm going back to my doctor in St. Louis, it's worth it.

I recently visited with dr Tomlin ( I believe that is the name) he was horrible to me for their mistakes!!! He was rude, taunting , arrogant... I could go non... I wanted and needed injections as well as pain meds.... I would not recommend him as even being a decent human!!!

Re: Jim (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

Elite in Springfield no longer gives anyone pain medicine. They only do “treatments”, now. Just went all the way there, and was told this! I am a Chronic Pain patient this area is totally nuts. The AMA regulation 325, that came out in 2018 (!) told doctors they need to treat chronic pain patients with adequate pain medicine, and that the CDC recommendation of tiny amounts, was totally wrong for such patients. To have good standards of care, doctors were supposed to do this and there would be NO legal problems for those that did! No losing license or practice, etc. CMS has new codes coming out with new practice outlines for Doctors to use to be paid for give no Chronic Pain patients over 65, &/or Disabled with chronic pain adequate billing and time for medication appts. What else do doctors in this area need to stop poor standards of care when it comes to helping suffering patients their appropriate pain medication?? We are patients, not addicts!!!! (join online pain warrior groups to keep updated and be heard, there are some there)!

Re: Sam (# 42) Expand Referenced Message

I saw this Dr. Knudsen. He was prescribing me two Tramadol four times a day. When I called the pharmacy for my refill I was told Dr. Knudsen has canceled all scripts for this medicine and has already told all his patients about the cancellation. Well hello! He didn’t tell me! I went into a terrible withdrawal. I called him and told him and his reply was that I shouldn’t be having withdrawal symptoms. Fortunately I had some gababintin and that helped me through it. By the time I realized I should have gone to the ER it was too late. I was too sick to leave my bed. He could have at least acknowledged that I was having problems and advised me to go to the ER, but he did not. I want to add that I took them responsibly and as directed. For these reasons I would advise anyone to look elsewhere for help. Dr. Ali in Joplin might be able to help you.

It's doubtful you will find a script writer these days. Doctors like that are all in the past. It does no good to phone a doctor's office either. They kept that info in house even when pain pills were in vogue.

Also, I am currently looking for a pain management dr in the Carthage/Joplin area. Spent the last 3 hours searching online and making phone calls so any info would be greatly appreciated.
