Lortab Watson Blue Vs Lortab M363

Updated

My friend and I are both prescribed Lortab APAP10/500's. I get the Watson 540 blue pills and he gets the M363 white pills. I have taken the white ones before, but for some reason, it did not help me as much as the Watsons. I don't understand this. Besides the manufacturer, is there any real difference between the two different kinds of pills?

Besides the difference in manufacturers, there may be a significant difference in the inactive ingredients in each pill.

Inactive ingredients found in M363 are:
crospovidone
magnesium stearate
microcrystalline cellulose
povidone
corn starch
silicon dioxide
stearic acid

Each Watson 540 tablet contains the following inactive ingredients:
croscarmellose sodium
crospovidone
magnesium stearate
microcrystalline cellulose
povidone
starch
stearic acid
FD&C Blue #2 Aluminum Lake

As you can see there is a difference in what they put into the pills, and that alone can significantly effect how the drug is absorbed into your system; including how effective it may be for you compared to someone else who might react differently to a few changes in ingredients.

I hope this info helps!

No, there is no difference. For a drug to be used as a generic for another drug,it MUST be the same. There is as much of the same narcotic in both pills. Hope this helps.

I have tried to explain this to ppl for years, the med in the tablets have to be the same, but each company uses different ingredients for "binders", and each persons system re-acts differently for this reason. As a former Pharmacy Tech, (Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, retired me) it never bothered me when a client asked for a specific generic, b/c I knew from my own experiences, what worked for me. But, even Pharmacists will argue the point to death with a client.

Christina, They is a difference with the two type of pills. Watson always works the best. Yes the pharmacy will argue saying the is no difference, bull. Even when people sell these on the street Watson always goes for a higher price. I know name brands in alot of medications work a little better than generic.

Thank you Mimzy. I have had that question myself. It seems that the pharmacy changes suppliers from time to time so I will call before getting them refilled. I know that the yellow ones always worked the best for me but I don't know the manufacturer for those, do you?

I have even had the pharmacist laugh and say, "I know you want the watsons it gets you there alot better".

Each hydrocodone/acetaminophen tablet (aside from dosage) is exactly the same, except in the case of "binders" as someone had previously mentioned. Keep in mind that each time you take one the circumstances leading up to the delivery of the medicine in your system is probably different. (unless of course you eat the same thing at the same time everyday, use the facilities the same time everyday, expend th same amount of calories at each point through the day and there is. O deviation what so ever from your daily routine) so, the effectiveness of each dose may change based on a collision of many, many variables. No two doses will EVER feel the same. Regardless. We haven't even mentioned things like tolerance, potentiators or anything of that matter. In terms of individual effectiveness as far as I know (and this is only personal experience talking here) Watsons are not by ANY means stronger OR weaker. Hydrocodone is hydrocodone. Only the brand names and fillers differ.

To the person looking for pain med with out insurance, anyone selling you with out a prescription is breaking the law. To be clear, you don't need insurance to see a doctor. Call a pain specialist, tell them in advance of situation and they can help you find help. I guarantee that if you try finding help on the street without doctors supervision, you will get poorer quality, if not tricked in to buying fake pills; plus you will pay way more. Loratab 5/250's can cost up to $20 a pill, where a bottle of 30 through a doctor is less than one street pill. You can debate any part of this, but the real issue is unsupervised drug use will take you into a deep, dark world, where the medicine becomes the problem, trust me...been there, done that. Sounds like you maybe there know, check clinics for "free" help, it exists in the legitimate chanels.

Been there ..... Amber never ever gives any indication of street use drugs . Do you always jump to such conclusions ? I'm just glad you're not a Doctor .

Went in and checked the inactive ingredient in Watson (crocscarmellose) and found that it makes the pill dissolve better and faster, maybe that is why they say it gets you there better and as I have taken both Watson works better on me.

You should consider the 10/325. There is absolutely no use for that amount of acetominophen in the combination hydrocodone products.

It does depend on the brand of generic because although they say it is supposed to be the same it is not always because of the fillers and binders they put in the pill. I have had some generics that worked better than others and some that didn't work at all . So there are some generics that work better than others.

Connie I agree with you about Been there, Amber never even mentioned street drugs, only how to get help without insurance. Amber I have been there & most pain management doctors ask $250 to 500 a visit. Go to a pain clinic, they will take cash runs about $125 plus your prescription cost. I have C5 thru C7 compression. Some of my days sound like yours. Wish you well.

Yellow ones are watson hydrocodone also. 10/325. Same controlled substance amount as the blue watsons, less apap.

Have you checked with your local Health Department or Mental Health Department? They may be able to direct you to a free clinic or an income based clinic.

maybe if you read what someone posted before thinking the worst of them. All Amber wrote was she has no insurance and how can she get insurance or help from a doctor without a job and shes in a lot of pain not that she wants illegal drugs or street drugs and help she never said anything of the kind. To Amber you can go to any doctor without insurance and pain meds are not that expensive there is free clincs and there is also insurance company's you can pay for but i know everything is expensive. Check around there is always someplace that can hlep.

No insurance and NO prescription are different animals. This making the remaining words in this post useless. and BTW I have no dog in this race... just doing some research for a family member

the amount of tylenol and buffer is different in every brand and that is what makes the difference and ruins peoples stomachs!

My name is Mike. I had a PAIN MANAGEMENT doctor until he discharged me on July 7, 2017. The first time I met this doctor he explained to me the pain was coming from the brain due to a stroke I had back in 2009. I'm having severe chronic pain my right arm and hand that I'm not able to use. He first said that he wanted to try METHADONE, a pain med that requires me to get an ekg first. In the meantime he wrote me a script for 20 LORTABS. Well the EKG test show the numbers to be too high, NO METHADONE. Then he said lets try an inj... He wrote me a script for 90 more Lortabs. He then states that the inj. could cause my blood pressure to go up. Then he decides to increase my Lortabs 10-325 to 120. Then a week before being discharged I had a visit with him and it was time for my 3 month U/A. I've been having so much pain that I ran short of LORTAB. Being short and not able to take this med for pain, my blood pressure and heart rate would jump sky high - that may cause another stroke. So I had 3 PERCOCETS I had left over. I found them in a bottle and I took it upon myself when I ran low on my LORTABS to take in June. My U/A came back showing the PERCOCETS in my system. So he discharged me. Now I have no pain med! Does anyone know of a pain doctor in the Memphis, Tennessee area? Please let me know.

To everyone noticing that the generic hydrocodone, oxycodone etc are not as strong: The truth is that they are not, most of them contain at least 20% less of the hydro & oxy than the name brands. The pharmacists & pharm. techs that respond to these forums try to tell you that you are building up a tolerance but you're not. Most of them don't know any better themselves or don't want to disclose the facts. Only pharmacists that are older (70-80 years old) really know or will tell you the truth about the generic drug situation. A lot of pharm. students & techs are told that generics are the same strength, they are not! It is such a violation of patients rights, especially cancer & chronic pain patients to make them suffer & be told that the meds are the same strength.

My father was a pharmacist, owned his own pharmacy & I worked for him 10 yrs. He was told & threatened to keep his mouth shut about these generics. By law the FDA allows generic meds to contain 20% less of the medication & fillers & chalky substances are added. It's actually a lot more than that in some of these ridiculous, half fake generics. I dont care what anyone thinks or says, this is the truth. How funny that when some people are taking norco & then have drug panel for a new job come up positive for tramadol & norco?? Sounds like some or all generic norco is also being combined or cut by the drug manufactures with tramadol & who knows what else. How scary is this that it's ok for this to be going on? Anyway folks you're not crazy for wondering why your meds are not as effective as name brand!

Watson has stopped adding dye to their pills as it is better for the environment... i.e. A blue 10/500 & white 10/500 are identical in the Watson line... Pink & yellow are also white. Refer to the #'s. The pills haven't changed... just less pretty...

You need to get signed up with the free clinic ASAP! I don't remember where you are but I know in Virginia, because of what friends have told me, you are originally signing up to be put on a waiting list. They call you when they have an appointment available. Good luck!

You have to either be receiving SSDi or be retireed and 65 in order to qualify for Medicare. Also Medicare is not for those who are low income. On the other hand Medicaid is for low income and doesn't require you receiving disability or being 65 in order to quailify. There are income limits an depending on the state you live in there may also be resources limits as well as other criteria. There also is no cost for Medicaid. The only problem is that fewer and fewer drs are accepting Medicaid To find out if you're eligible for Medicaid in your state put, Your State Medicaid Eligibility Requirements, in your search bar.

My tens unit saves the day for me regularly. My husband and I both have one and use it daily. You have to find the setting that works best for you but once you do there are no words to properly discribe how good you will feel.
