My Kratom Experience

Updated

I did not use Kratom to come off of Narcotics or any other addiction. I wanted to try Kratom because of all the great reviews I had read about it. I was curious, so I ordered a 4 oz. supply and gave it a shot. I was hoping it would help with my concentration at work as well as help me manage the nagging pain of simply aging. The results were instant and I thought I had found the perfect remedy to raise me up from the daily grind. I dosed myself twice a day, once at noon and again in the evening. My completion of tasks increased and the nagging pain I had been living with decreased. After a few months on Kratom I started to notice that I didn't feel great between doses and that I would start watching the clock for when I'd allow myself to mix a kratom drink. I'd take the dose and feel great for 3-4 hours and then start coming down again. I reluctantly accepted that I had become addicted to the stuff. I continued to take Kratom daily for a little over a year. I'd get low on my supply and order more out of fear of not having it on hand. It became a vicious cycle. Just recently I decided I wanted to be Kratom free, and based on my experience on Kratom I knew I would deal with some withdrawal symptoms. The withdrawal symptoms are real but manageable. I felt extremely sluggish, jittery, sleeplessness, occasional chills, and little motivation to be active. After 4 days of these symptoms I started to come out of the fog and my natural energy returned. Thank goodness. I am only writing this note to let others know of my experience on Kratom. My experience is lame compared to those who are trying to come off stronger stuff, I understand. Kratom was good to me, but I used it as a crutch instead of using it only as needed. Some people swear that Kratom has saved their lives, and I believe them. Some of us however may have started taking it for a simple "pick me up" and ended up relying on it to find normalcy. This note is for those folks. If you want to get off of it, it is manageable and the light on the other end is bright a feels really great.

These are the final days for legal Kratom sales in the USA. Perhaps it's a good thing you have stopped.

Hi B,

Thanks for sharing your experience with Kratom in such detail. I found it helpful & intriguing in a number of ways. It also helps go to show that taking anything as a crutch v.s. on an 'only as needed' basis, is a key fundamental factor in how we perceive or justify our use of something. Facing and overcoming addiction is a part of life, be it coffee (caffeine), certain foods, repetitive habits, etc... But it's the fact that you noticed it when you began to make the switch from "only as needed" to "a crutch", that makes all the difference in how you handled/overcame your addiction. Maintaining the awareness of your "habit" and why you were taking Kratom to begin with is a very important step in the process.

At the end of the day, everyone eventually needs a break from whatever is it they're doing or taking in order to restore our delicate chemical balance.

On that note, Kratom has been a wonderful addition to my supplement base for taking care of minor aches/pain, energy, insomnia, etc. Sometimes I take it for multiple days in a row and sometimes I don't take it for a week or two at a time. I just naturally do what feels right in the moment and understand that this is different for everyone.

We'll see what happens regarding the "ever-impending ban" on Kratom, but for now, I consider it a great natural alternative to pharmaceuticals that are marketed for similar use-cases; and as with anything we ingest, we must take time to know our body well enough to consume responsibly.

~Regards~

I have found out that by switching from reds to greens and white rotation and not taking every day I have not had any problems with kratom. I have plenty of stock I keep in fresh in containers in a dark closet. But rotation is the key.

I have taken kratom many times and have amazing results. I usually switch up the strains that I use or I like to take a blend of either many strains mixed together. My go to is the proprietary white blend for day time and the proprietary red blend for night time. I get it from high sierra herbals which has way better quality then I've found at smoke shops or other online vendors.

Re: JimmyNeutron (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Humm, interesting, I have never heard of it. The name that is. But I do know that I just will never buy from a gas station. Idk why, just because. Truth is here in Florida I have never seen it sold other than at a head shop and I happen to live very close to the Sarasota county line is to where the cut off is at. I'm in Charlotte county.
