Oxycodone 30 Mg Prescription

Updated

I have been receiving the same prescription for 7 years. I am prescribed 270 30mg oxycodone a month. I have severe back injury that is inoperable with severe neuropathy into both legs. Since the new quantity guidelines took effect, I have been unable to get my script filled. My Dr secretary drop the ball and did not get prior authorization for the extra quantity. I even offered to pay out of pocket or use a discount card until the doctor could get the prior authorization for next month but no one will fill it. does anyone know what I can do?

Baltimore Maryland. Actually Baltimore County. It sucks because I used to be on a lot higher dose than this and I asked the doctor to help me get my dosage lower. I inject my back with lidocaine to help control the pain and the pharmacist look at me like I'm a junkie considering I've been going to the same Pharmacy the entire time I've been in pain management. Any help is greatly appreciated

The best thing to do would be to discuss the issue with your doctor to see if they can adjust your prescription to help you be able to get it filled.

A dosage increase, or formulation change might eliminate the problem. There is also a chance they may be able to prescribe 2 different medications.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, it could also cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, constipation, nausea, and dry mouth.

Does anyone else have any ideas that might help?

I'm am so sorry to hear that and know your pain and what your going through. My wife recently had back surgery and is taking certain pain medications (prescribed in Texas) but her job consists of traveling all over the place and now that we're around the Baltimore area it's so hard for the doctor to prescribe her the exact amount of meds she was taking while in Texas and I've come to notice doctors are extremely scared to lose their license because the FDA has cracked them down and hit them hard. They're scared to prescribe anything and u wonder why people get addicted to illicit drugs or something worse. Your best bet is to see a doctor else where, as this state sucks!

That's the whole problem. My doctor secretary dropped the ball and to my understanding it takes a little while to get the pre-authorization. I went to a different Pharmacy yesterday and instead of using the insurance, decided to use my Rx discount card. The price wasn't bad at all and the woman said it was no problem. However 4 hours later she called me back and said she had to run it through the insurance company. They said they could only give me 60 tablets until the authorizations go through so I'm hoping that is enough time for the doctor to get them. Thank you for your response.

I spoke with my doctor about the situation and they are in the process of filling out the pre-authorization forms. As long as I can get my pain to stop I don't care what meds I have. One thing that is making it difficult is that I am a single father of twin daughters who also have disabilities. I used to be on long-acting pain medication but it made it very difficult to do the things I had to do as a parent. With the short-acting medication, I can adjust my dosage so if I have to take them to an appointment or if I have to go to a pharmacy I am safe 2 drive. When I was on the long-acting formula there really wasn't much I could do and it wasn't safe to drive that way. Don't know if the insurance company will take that information into consideration. I've never failed any of my U/A's and have always gone to the same doctor and pharmacy. I've been in pain management for a total of 16 years, however I've been on this dosage for 7. Don't know what I'm going to do if I'm forced to go on a long-acting medication again, as it would be great to stop hurting but I will suffer in agony before I would ever put my children in Harm's Way. The good thing about my prescription now is I can take a small amount to take the edge off until I know I am home then I can increase the dosage to stop the pain. I thank everyone for their time in responding to my question.

This is the Problem I'm having, NOT ENOUGH PAIN MEDS. What is total amount of opioids that you can get per DAY? With the guide lines. I currently am taking 90mgs A day. I was taking 120mgs per day, and my Doctor said that he has to reduce it down MORE!!! I suffer with no Neck bone, from C2-L7 is a metal rod and I also have metal in both Shoulders and I have chronic lower back Pain. So does ANYONE know if there is a new Law about A New opioid. Prescription amount because what I'm on NOW is Doing VERY LITTLE HELP!!!!

Hi Rich!!! FIRST?? slowdown buddy you have to be able to think, I mean really think and not be upset OK? My name is Karen. I am Robert Reeds daughter, Aka Mike Brady / Brady Bunch. He would kill me for that LOL. The reason I am telling you that is because I have a huge following of great people and most of them are sick. So that being said, there is a whole lot of love and compassion there, that includes celebrities, so we have input from all over the country and EUROPE / AUSTRALIA. I've got 30 years under my belt of autoimmune disease, MS, drophead, which is usually painful, really it's horrible and I am a tough broad! Yes how lady like I don't know. Anyway I am also a PhD and I am a walking PDR, (physicians desk reference). I have also been on just about every drug there is on the planet! Eight major surgeries, warm clothes brushed with death in the year 2000 and the list goes on! I can answer all of your questions but I'm not gonna do it here! I am brand new here today and I am having the same issue with the new laws. However I do have the answer to your question. Cvs pharmacies limit is 10 pills if you are taking Norco 7.5 mg. However if the directions are not picture-perfect for the label from your doctor it will not make any difference. In other words take mine for instance, I ran into trouble too. I ran out because of the new law. So mine says take one to two every 4 to 6 hours and here is the important part - FIFTEEN DAY SUPPLY?? My quantity is 150 because I can't take the 10 mg as they are loaded with yellow dye number five. Why the hell would a company do that when half the population is allergic to yellow dye number five, I have no clue... If your doctor will not do that have him WRITE ON YOUR RX - THIRTY DAY SUPPLY, he must give you an overage amount because they will not show anything two days prior like they used to. It's down to the wire I mean literally. It's made things really hard and horrible for people who really need pain medication and are not out there doing stupid s***. That's a start for you. RICH, I hope that helps. By the way, finding this forum today was really a great thing so thank you to whoever is the CEO, LOL and no I'm not going to sign off. You all have a good day.

As an update, the doctor tried to get pre-authorization three separate times and they were denied each time. I'm left with no other option than to let my state health insurance go and use a discount card and pay out of pocket. I have added Lidocaine with epinephrine injections. I inject myself two times a day with three CC hen the pain becomes unbearable.

Oxycodone and Yes it's addictive, and so is Soda, Cigs and Coffee and Steak. What I'M saying is everything has Addictive tendencies.

I have so many people tell me how addictive narcotics are as if I'm not aware of it after all the years I've had to take it LOL. I couldn't agree with you more Rich. I could be wrong in my thinking, but I feel I am chemically dependent on the medication but I would not consider myself addicted. What I mean by that is, being chemically dependent, I will of course becomes ill and have withdrawal if I run out of medication, however because I've never abused it I would never let that happen. Being addicted to it I would run out of medication from not taking it properly and then would do anything and everything to try to get more. I know a lot of people that are addicted to not only narcotic pain medication but other drugs as well unfortunately. The drugs come before everything else. I am thankfully blessed to say, my family, home, and Health come before anything. I would become deathly ill and paraplegic before I would ever sell my things, hurt my loved ones in anyway or break the law to get pain medication. The DEA and government need to quit harassing the people that really need this medication and who have been on it for many many years. Eventually they're going to cause more harm than good and people are going to die from withdrawal from not being able to get their meds

Hi Allen YOU do understand the Problem. But it's not just the withdrawals that can make you unable to fight it. I also know WITHOUT the MEDS you don't have ANY ENGERY to even he make any simple moves like just going to the Restroom. What I'M trying to say without the Meds to HELP with the Pain. We the Meds(what little I get now 90mgs A day) I can get around some what, but if my Dumbass Dr.keeps trying to cut more of MEDS the Worse it's going to get for me !#!! Something's got to be DONE about this. I'M so tired of hearing about more Deaths that are related to Opiods. Fine then these people who made these Opiods SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR DIFFERENT IDEAS FOR MAKING A PAIN MED. IF SOMETHING IS BROKEN THEN FIX WITH A DIFFERENT PRODUCT DAM.

Re: Rich (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

I know that's rediculous to be worried about the addictive properties it sounds to me that he is NOT IN WHAT I CALL PAIN!!! Or he never would have made that an issue! To add to your list: addictive so are forums like this , bidding sites, horse racing give me a break! You get constipated JOIN THE CLUB ITS CALLED 5 Dulocolax big F deal! That's all I have to say about some one whining about PROPAGANDA PHARMA PAMPHLETETS! Or Drs " reasons " not to prescribe to patients like those of us WHO REALLY NEED IT!!! Who fight like hell to live EVERY DAY! Get over the side effect bull **** good grief! Go get some Aleave! #anoying
