Pain Management Doctors In Arkansas Who Have Own Office That Takes Medicaid

Updated

I have taken methadone for about 9 yrs. and other pain medicines before that. I have chronic pain post polio syndrome, Degenerative arthritis, Degenerative disc. in back due to severe Scoliosis. New laws passed , so my Doctor stopped doing pain management, not sure why. The pain management clinics are expensive and they do not take medicaid. I need a Doctor for pain management that can prescribe pain medication, but who takes medicaid patients. The Disable and poor are out of luck now. Need Doctor from south Arkansas

I'm sorry, but even for any listings I find in your area, I have no way of knowing what types of insurance they accept.

Have you tried asking your doctor for a referral somewhere else?

Have you tried contacting your local Medicaid office to see if they have a list of doctors that accept it?

What medication where you referring to, did you mean Methadone?

I too am suffering the exact same medical problems as you are. I have degenerative disc disease and sciatica in both legs. I have only medicaid as insurance and would be grateful if you could let me know if you find a doctor that is willing to help. I share your frustration with "the system" and I will do the same for you. Today I found a web page called rxchat.com and under the heading" Doctors who will prescribe pain medicine in arkansas". It has a list of doctors in the Little Rock area that will prescribe pain meds, but I'm not sure if they accept medicaid. I am going to check out and you may want to do the same. Good luck.

Do you know if Arkansas Pain management will prescribe Schedule2 narcotics? I have been on methadone for 16 yrs. for pain and need to probably continue. I was DISMISSED from Dr. Ackermans' pain management for offering to give my appointment to a patient that had driven o7i5 miles, one way, on the wrong day. She was 80 yrs. old and was told to take my seat. THEN, Dr. Ackerman wrote the wrong prescription for me. When I pointed it out, the receptionist said I was being disruptive. SOOOOO, I'm in a mess, right now. HELP, ANYONE!

I too, feel everyones pain, literally!! I have fibro. peripheral neuropathy, 7 ruptured discs, a broken hip that never works right, 1" shorter than the other and hurts with every step. No Dr. I can find wants to ADEQUATELY treat my pain. Not even half way. Now I live in bed, down to 97lbs. @ 5'7" and because I'm 67 years old "they" just say "she's old, let her die". Well, heck with that!! I'm going to fight back. There are over 100 million people in the US, who are not treated or undertreated for pain! Let's do something about it!

Man, i've got a herniated disc as well, Arkansas is the s***tiest place to live if you have a condition where you need opiate narcotic pain medication- There are about half the Drs in town will not write you any kind of pain med, only wanna do injections and epidurals, forget that, but the other half will write you the meds you need, completely depend on the Dr. If you do get stuck going to one of the Pain Referall Doctors and he doesn't believe in Narcotic pain Medicine, just nod and shake and tell him thanks, but no thanks, i'm going to get a second opinion....or third opinion if you have to until you get the relief you need!

This sounds better than being turned away bc no one is taking new medicine patients... Could you help by providing the information since now that hydrocodone is schedule 2 our pcp's are no longer prescribing nerve meds... Or pain meds or muscle relaxing agents... I'm disabled and cannot survive this way... I was on methedone at one time.. I cannot afford to be in those clinics which treat addicts not set up 4 pain management... And the methedone Tore my body up... Any help finding someone who will see me is a blessing...

I agree, I recently moved to AR, as I was reunited with my HS sweetheart and we are getting married but I had 2 major neck surgeries, I had every level of my lumbar spine fused, a total lamentomy, rods in my back and a broken tailbone. The Dr that I had prior was wonderful, however, I can not go back and fourth. The new Dr that I have, is not as compasionate and I am sure that its because they have way to many patients. The bottom line is that the Gov, is taking control of our healthcare without even knowing us! This is hurting the folks who are truly dealing with pain so bad that all you can do is lay flat on your back! The Dr's are saying they can only write this amount or that amount? It should be based on the Dr, who is the one taking care of the patient and not the Dr who are only able to write this much or that much! I have a very high tolerance for pain med,s. So I am going with the pain pump, hoping that it works. If anyone has any info on experience with a pain pump, please let me know but we as Americans, need to start something! I just am not sure where to begin? Anyone have a suggestions? No one should spend their life, flat on their back as I have for the past 2.5 months, I have had no life and its really unfair as the Gov, has never done a exam on me so how can they tell the Doctors, what they are allowed to prescribe! Spend a day in our Bodies, maybe then it will wake up their eyes!

I saw that Dr. Weedman was being sued for wrongful death by a husband cos his wife died from an overdose, cos that doctor wasn't monitoring her blood work of what he was giving her...Lol! I am not laughing at her dying cos it's not funny... I am laughing at that dimwit doctor. That is why people are having a hard time getting their meds cos doctors overwriting for one patient... I hope he gets fired!

Re: Sissy (# 99) Expand Referenced Message

What your doctor told you is not correct. The CDC Guidelines state the following:

"This guideline provides recommendations for the prescribing of opioid pain medication by primary care clinicians for chronic pain..."

"Clinical decision making should be based on a relationship between the clinician and patient, and an understanding of the patient’s clinical situation, functioning, and life context. The recommendations in the guideline are voluntary, rather than prescriptive standards."

"Clinicians should consider the circumstances and unique needs of each patient when providing care."

"This guideline is intended for primary care clinicians (e.g., family physicians and internists) who are treating patients with chronic pain."

Re: BL (# 93) Expand Referenced Message

BL... I stand corrected. The "morphine equivalent" issue (which I was informed about by my pain management Dr.) is NOT a LAW but a DEA REGULATION. Might as well be the same thing. My Dr. stated that if any doctor goes over this morphine equivalent ceiling, it immediately triggers a full-blown investigation of the doctor by the DEA. During this investigation, the Doctor's prescribing privileges are suspended. I'm NOT looking to argue over this issue.... I'm just trying to pass on information relevant and important to chronic pain patients. Best regards. P.S. if you STILL don't believe me....ask your pain Doctor yourself. Pain Doctors are NOT happy about this new REGULATION either...and will probably be happy to discuss this issue with you.

Re: Rebecca (# 13) Expand Referenced Message

Rebecca.....you are right...that IS ILLEGAL!! That Doctor should be reported to Medicare/Medicaid and/or the DEA immediately. Everyone talks about US chronic pain patients as the ONLY source or cause of the illegal opioid epidemic....but they NEVER seem to mention money-grubbing DOCTORS like this as contributors to the problem!! How RIDICULOUS. I am SURE this doctor contributes much MORE to the problem than any pain patient alive. How many pills go out this DOCTORS back door on a daily basis? This Doctor is EXACTLY WHY the DEA is all over EVERY pain management doctor in Arkansas....and the very reason so many qualified, sympathetic pain doctors are switching specialties and no longer treating pain patients. This is why everyone is having such an impossible problem of finding a pain doctor who will take new patients.

Re: tired of pain (# 20) Expand Referenced Message

I have had four pain pumps over a twenty year period. The first two were fine. However...the last two pumps almost KILLED me. Before you even CONSIDER getting one, I would highly recommend you go to fda.gov and search "Pain pump recall"! I can't name the manufacturer except that it is the largest one and starts with an "M". Their pumps have been subject to thirty-three Class 1 recalls (the most severe class). Fourteen people died from them. I believe the number is much higher than that because medical providers are NOT required to report serious defects with the pumps....reporting is VOLUNTARY!! Your Dr. will tell you there are risks to every procedure....but what he WON'T tell you is he gets a "bonus" for every patient he gets to take one. Also, the manufacturer WILL NOT notify YOU of any defects...the FDA only requires the manufacturer to notify YOUR DOCTOR of any defects....which is ridiculous! Car manufacturers are required to notify consumers of auto recalls...but medical device manufacturers aren't required to notify you of a defective device implanted in your BODY? Also, if your pump malfunctions and overdoses you (which mine did), and possibly KILLS you, no one can sue medical device manufacturers. If you don't believe me, Google "medical device manufacturers AND Preemption" or "Reigel vs. Medtronic AND Supreme Court Decision on Preemption" I was one of the first patients (at Duke University) to have a pump implanted in 2007. If you go to the FDA site, you will see all the recalls. NONE of my Doctors EVER told me ANYTHING about a recall on my pump, or EVER directed me to the FDA. Please....please..do your homework and get all the info you can before you consider getting one. The only info I got from my doctor before I got one implanted were "rosy, glowing patient reviews" in an advertising brochure obviously compiled and printed by the pump manufacturer. It ALMOST cost me my LIFE!

Re: Sissy (# 92) Expand Referenced Message

Please post a link to the State Of Arkansas Law stating a doctor cannot prescribe over a certain amount mg of Morphine or Morphine Equivalent daily for chronic pain. I have not been able to find the Law. But, I have found recommendations. Recommendations and Laws are not the same thing.
