Psychological?? I'm totally in disagreement with you. First off, if you closed your eyes and switched different pills, you would NOTICE a difference. You're insulting many people and their pain by assuming this, especially since I've been on pain management over 10 yrs. I have 5 bulging discs with a herniated disc, fybromyalgia and herniated discs in my neck with stenosis all the way down. My c-1 thru c-5, and my L-1 thru L-7 and my S's are all bulging, and I have degenerating disc disease on top of my sciatic flair ups constantly. How can you say it's psychological? How can you possibly JUDGE all people without being a Dr or knowing them personally, or reading their MRI results? NOW Your passing JUDGEMENT. I don't think you'd want to be labeled or categorized like that either. Be VERY careful who you point a finger at and how you assume people feel. GOD...how terribly insulting you are!

Watson in my opinion is the best of the generics. Aftet a couple of years on pain meds. The WORST....alvogen...make sure you never go home w this brand. It will be a long month.

Yellow 230 pills by Alvogen are worse I've ever had more pitiful than M523. This pill has similarity to a placebo wish I never filled my script with this crap! I'll stick with my Watson 932 forever if overall quality is an issue.

Tnx, I so agree with you on the name brand - I can do great on one or two nb Percocet, and go for 6+ hours sometime, as compared to most generics, which I may get 3 or 4 hours of relief from, if I am lucky ! Endocet gives me the same results as nb - but who can afford nb? !! My local Mom & Pop pharmacy made a few calls for me this morning, and there is most definitely an Endo shortage at this time - looks like it will last until early to mid March.
You hit the nail on the head with the attitude of some pharmacists - most think we are 'Hop-Heads', just looking to get high. I would give anything for just one of them to experience even one, just one hour of the pain I go thru daily,... And then I'm sure they 'just might realize' why we need what we do need. Personally I would give anything to not have to take any of the narcotics that I do take, or,... I would give anything to see what just one hour of being 'pain free' is like !!
(I was injured in an on-the-job accident back in '92 - have had multiple cervical & lumbar spine surgeries, currently have a 4" plate in my neck, two 9"+ rods in my lower back,... Most of the surgeries failed - never really helped much, and I had some of the best NY Dr.'s perform them) !!
I recently had an extremely extensive exam by one of Emory Hospital/College's top MD's, and even he told me & Worker's Comp that the meds I take will be how the rest of my life will go. (getting off-topic here, sorry !).

Nonetheless, Tnx again - seems not many folk understand how a few simple inactive ingredients can change the effectiveness of a simple pill, go figure. And, how that small change can so adversely affect one's life. JG

I too notice a difference in generic companies. If their were no differences their would exist only one brand. The same people that disagree probably believe hydrocodone bitartrate is the same as hydrocodone HCL... but that's another topic. The Endocet 712 are better than most but have a high potential to give me a headache, the M 523 more so gives me the stomach cramps & have a very short half life, comparing to the Watson 932's are best I have had little to no unwanted side effects plus the have a more lasting affect than the M 523 by Mallinckrodt. What I beg is do anyone have a educated opinion about the yellow round 230 with a strange Chinese C on the back, manufactured by Alvogen. Have anyone an intelligent answer? I cannot find any reviews on the internet anywhere.

I've been on and off generic percocet since 1996. My regular pharmacy made an error in printing a label, and put the wrong doctor's name on it. As a result, all my docs were on me like narcotic Gestapo, requiring urine drug tests at all of them. To prevent future problems, I now fill the oxy 10/325 (& nothing else) at the Mom & Pop pharmacy in the medical center he's in.

Amazingly, they use Endocet. After always getting Watson, Endocet was almost heavenly. Pain relief was more complete, and they last slightly longer. My occupational therapist has pain issues, I told him of better response to Endo, he tried it and absolutely agreed.

Unfortunately, for the past month they've stuck me with the weird A stuff that takes almost twice the dosage to do anything, and then not enough. I don't understand it. I'm familiar with a couple meds that supposedly had issues between NB & generic, most notably Cardizem/diltiazem, but I thought people were imaging things. Now, like the rest of you, I realize it's the FDA imagining generics & NB are equal AND that there is an adequate supply of Endocet when obviously there is not.

It does especially tick me off that I stay up to date on healthcare & meds so I got off high dose acetaminophen YEARS ago, but despite attempting to be proactive I'm getting kicked in the teeth because of the slow switchover by the docs & Big Pharma who weren't paying attention. FDA is doing a crappy job of regulating! If they require this much control they need to nationalize narcotics. Combining tight oversight with for-profit businesses is a recipe for screwing patients.

Medications are not like they use to be. All about making money. The consumer or in this case the patient is treated like a second class citizen. I remember when we used to go to the doctors office and it was ok to ask your Doctor about new meds on the market whether pain medications or say antibiotics. Now when you have pain because you had back surgery and you found out about a new pain med the Doctor or doctors become hestiant and wonder where you heard about these medications? Look Doctor they have medications in magazines, TV and even on drive by signs on the highways. Also presume we are all addicts. No due process funny. Anyway I been on some pain meds like Percocet 10/325 (Watson) and I never had problems because I followed the information the doctor gave me. The common phrase we see on the bottle is USE AS NEEDED. Some just forget about that part.

They are, but I got my RX filled the other day as I request endocet & it's never been a problem but on this refill the owner of the pharmacy was like well I'm loosing money ( let's not me tell her I have passed out hundreds of flyers for them & hundreds of business cards at my orthodox & pain management & physical therapy place ) but she claimed I'm loosing money 25$ & I can't do that not even for you & having all you have done for us & the fact I give her all my business & get all my scripts filled their, she was like tell me where you got them before for my price I give you, NOT! anyways, it's all about money & what's strange is she said this many months ago, but only this past week says that I will have to pay her 30$ more in future to get the endocet. What a crock of s***, but he could give me the cheap Amneal brand, which is blah & they know that for the same $$$ as the endocet. I would take my script elsewhere & get the Watson Marked ones but as another Person wrote & it is very true, ACTAVIS makes & has bought out Watson & this is why so many stopped taking their hydrocodone which were great, they claim it's the same just w/ out the yellow dye, BULL S***! I'm a chronic pain sufferer & have a metal hip & a destroyed back & doctors want me on roxis but I don't wish to take that s***. Too addictive, I've seen good people go from normal & living their lives to trying every pharmacy in town each month to fill their script & when they finally get it filled they disappear off the earth for a month locked in their rooms on a drug induced comma, no pun intended. Sucks to go down that road, so I'm likely going to just pay the pharmacy the extra 30 bucks & stick w/ the endocet. They are a good pharmacy but being I've known them for so long & I have brought them sooo much business it bothers me a multiple million dollar making company is worries over loosing 25 dollars when they make mad money off my other mess & I buy other things from them too. Always have a back up pharmacy, just because you THINK your local mom & pop pharmacy like you & you have a good relationship w/ them trust me it's not AT ALL what it seems, rather they are worried not about all the business you bring them nor your loyalty to using them alone, BUT YOUR MONIES.. I was very upset, & thus why I know why my doctor tells me to have/pick two pharmacies & I wasn't about to give them the name, so everyone be careful, I wish I didn't have to take this stuff but w/ out it & my physical condition I would not be able to write this nor enjoy my time w/ my grandchildren & enjoy the little relief I do get from this Endocet. Some days are just so bad no medicine will work & I wish I did accept the roxis & others like today I'm ok, not ever pain free but a he'll of a lot better than stuck in bed wishing I were dead. I wish you all a better tomorrow & a pain free holiday. I'm grateful to be able to afford my meds, as I know that is a blessing within itself! Thanks & god bless!

I too was told by my regular pharmacy chain ( actually the owner was there ) & they said that Watsons will no longer be available & offered either Amneal or Endocet brands, being very sensitive to fillers in near all medications, I'm very picky when it comes to my pain medication. I have two rods in my back & a damaged hip that needs replacement surgery, I should be on much stronger medications but I must be able to function & thus I get by ( some days worse than others ) on just generic percoset. My pharmacist said it's likely due to Watson having been bought out by Actavis which has just now become a fortune 500 company. He said they have had a ton of complaints every since the company name was bought & they long ago stopped carrying the new WHITE colored Norco by Actavis though they are stamped & numbered the same, just likely have not had the time to do proper research & just pushed them out to meet the demand, WHO KNOWS, other than Actavis. I would say that things are only going to get worse before they get better. I would think of compounding, but they are not federally controlled, only state controlled. My doctor just told me of the sterility issue out east in South Carolina w/ a local complicates cortisone shots, being a sterile issue, over 25 people died! If anyone decides to try a compounding pharmacy make sure they are at least state certified as mixed results have been known to show on required drug checks by pain management Doctors. I have discussed this all w/ both my pharmacy & my doctors as well & they ALL recommended that I use Endocet brand. I think that it's looked at as a drug problem issue when one is as knowledged as I am & many others about their pain medications, but I'm like this w/ all I put into my body & theirs nothing wrong w/ that. I put my medications into a monthly counter and take as prescribed. I was also warned that if you go to these mom & pop pharmacies & they ask for your personal info & a photo copy of your drivers license to RUN AND REPORT THEM TO THE FDA. I think it's these so called "local" mom/pop pharmacies that are taking short cuts & thus making it even that much harder on us pain patients that truly need pain medication to live a normal & somewhat pain free life, with me it's never truly PAIN FREE, but more so not as painFULL day to day life. I can work, play w/ my niece & nephew & be involved in my community, and my pharmacy & doctor know this of me, & I'm blessed to have them both & I would never do anything to damage that trust & relationship. To all you who are out to make yourself feel high, why not go do some H ( god knows the govt. Has made sure plenty of it is on our streets). I would do anything to not have to live w/ this pain I do day to day & I pray constantly & I'm not saying everyone should do what I do, but it does help to have faith in something. Sorry to get off topic, but I'll end it w/ saying this, I'm taking the endocet & I have near the same relief as w/ the Watsons, w/ out the morning headaches. I'm going to see if I can find a " STERILE CERTIFIED PHARMACY " in my area that may be able to work w/ me on compounding but I also will send one off to the FDa to be studied & make sure I'm not being taken for a joker, if I have to take a diagnosis & my levels are off, I will sue the pharmacy for every dime they have, so any complicates reading this just know this, your all into our lives, just remember if you make the choice to make the meds yourself, I & many others will be watching you now. Goodluck to everyone & honestly if endocet is available to you, than stick w/ them. Best of wishes to you all & HAPPY NEW YEAR...

For me personally the Watson 932 works much better than endocet 712....I can tell a BIG difference in my pain relief

I've studied pain meds for years because of the personal need for them. Yes,absolutely Endocet works better than any other generic or even brand name Percocet for me. Pharmacy's only make if any $1 off of selling endocet some pharmacy's actually tell me they lose $ from selling it. Even though pharmacy's don't have it in they will order it for you if they know you'll be purchasing it from them every month. I've even gotten a large pharmacy such as CVS(the old longs) to Oder it for me and keep it aside for my monthly refills. For at least the last 2 months the Endocet supply has been very low which happens every time another genetic come out such as the new Percocet generic Alvogen. On line Canadian pharmacy's are safe and reliable. Dr's are now having patients go to them for less expensive meds. In Canada they have a cap on how much prescriptions can be charged. Hope this helps. Jereen

Again...please take the time to read through the threads.

Watson was bought out by Activis. You would've read this multiple times in comments/responses prior to mine. The final sale took place about a year ago, as I opened my prescription and saw white oblong pills A333, which seems to bring most of us to the consensus that there is a variation in the active ingredient. Very tough pill to swallow (no pun intended). The pain relief for me, was not even remotely close to Watson brand. Personally, Watson 932 (10mg/325) worked extremely well for me. As soon as the company changed hands, the formula definitely changed (FDA - 20% variation in active ingredient allowed). Since then, I've tried 3 different manufacturers of generic 10/325 including:

Amneal (IP204 imprint)
Activis (A333 imprint)
Mallinckro (M523 imprint)

I am guessing that there are many chronic pain patients that would agree that these unfortunately, are not nearly the same as the Watson brand. If someone is able to afford name brand Percoset...these would definitely be the best option. I am certain that if Watson were magically able to re-establish themselves, and use the same formula as they have in the past, the 90% (if not more) of chronic pain patients would request Watson over any of the 3 generics I've listed above. The others hardly seem worth taking. Minimal relief.

***If anyone has any info (and/or feedback) on Endocet, I would greatly appreciate a reply, as I would like to locate this or find out what pharmacies will order this for you, if requested. From what I've read, Endocet seems to be the next best thing to the discontinued Watson tablet***

Goodluck to everyone in managing your pain. It's terrible that it has come to this. Very concerning.

I've taken both the Actavis generic and Endocet 10/325 from Endo labs. Both don't work near as well as the brand name which is made by Endo labs, but costs alot more and works about 25% better. About 6 years ago the Endocet 10/325 started to not work as well for me. I tried the Mallinkrodt generic which was completely worthless, zero pain reduction.
After the weakend state of the 10/325 Percocet generics I got my doctor to switch me to Roxicodone 15mg for my breakthrough pain medication and used the Actavis 15mg generic which worked alot better than any Percocet 10/325 generic. Not because it was 5mg more of the active ingredient, but because the quality of the active ingredient was alot better.
You can read all over MedsChat forum about all the different opiates having a weakend state and not working on pain anywhere near as well as they did years ago. The government has gotten big pharma to some how tamper with the way all opiates are made now so they can't be abused as easily, but the down side to that is they don't work on your pain very well at all anymore. Another Odumbo gift to suffering Americans with severe debilitating chronic pain because drug abusers are more important than suffering human beings in Odumbo world. Oh!, and don't forget you're going to be prescribed less of these inferior opiate analgesics because of Odumbo too...

Rite Aide pharmacy Joe G they are about $120 for 90 pills without insurance. I always find mom & pops rx for at least half that with Endocet u just have to ask 1st. Some pharmacists r cool and some are real jerks about it. Endocet do have a better quality than most with least side effects depending on the inactive ingredients and combinations of other medications. I have had true Gerd for about 13 years with operations done on my esophagus plus sleep in a hospital bed so yeah I understand. I still desire to fill a script with nb Percs just way to expensive ($600 for 90 pills Walgreens).

I've also taken a mixture of different manufacturers of percocet generic but this is the first time I've gotten ones made by Alvogen...they all help my pain but for some reason after taking these i get a bad headache. Have you ever noticed such a thing with a change in the maker? The only other time this happened was when i took the ones with no acetaminophen in them...those give me a horrid headache.

Kim, Once I did get headaches too which I thought were caused by Endocet but now I take a combination of Fioricet with Percocet, 800 mg Neurontin, 350 mg Soma, Klonopin 0.5mg, Levoxyl & Clonodin 0.2mg with Exforge 5/160 along with rx grade vitamin supplements.
I have renal failure caused by too much NSAIDS/ Mobic and Lithium I were using for spinal abnormalities, cluster headaches, & overactive nerves. So my dosage of necessity is oxycodone 10/325 (BN) Percocet and never Hydrocodone anymore.
Generics that are not worth the time to make;
White oblong IP 204 by Amneal pharmaceuticals,
Round yellow 230 with Chinese C on back by Alvogen pharmaceuticals,
White oblong M 523 with 10/325 on back by Mallinkrot pharmaceuticals. I run from those placebo pills. And I too heard about the Endocet shortage this month from my local pharmacy near beginning of February about 11th. Anytime there is a shortage of any pill by request it means that they notoriously work the best! Watson 932 pills are hard to find and are upper echelon, but do give some people with GERD trouble.

Thanks for your response. As I got further into the month I realized these don't work well at all! My husband thinks I'm crazy cause "it's all the same the same thing" according to him.

Go to Walgreens hun! They only carry Watson! <3 Hope this helps. That's where I go. I loved your Mailinkroft or whatever the spelling as a placebo! you better believe it!! I can only use Endocet as it works the best! but it's impossible to find. I'm calling Qualitist who makes them, to see where I can find them! That puts an end to that crap! But Watson is effective. It's as close as you'll get to an Endo. Hope this helps. I only use Walgreens now, until I find Endocet again. I will not put up with pharmacies increasing my pain by making a buck off of me. the hell with that. You can't treat people who are totally disable and bonafide handicap on disability like this. There are places somewhere that still carry it, and I'll keep you posted.

I haven't been on here in a while because I have one local mom and pop Rx that survived this shirade of Endocet extractions due to lack of making money off that specific med. I also know just where to go for Watson 932 for less a price than Walmart but Endocet is my Rx of choice. My doctor simply writes Percocet 10/325 that way I can get whatever substitute I want. Until today I was in so much pain I sent my mom to my regular Pharmacy with the Endocet bottle so that they do not give me the Mallinkrot that they also have. She gets back with 93 Alvo gen pills! Broke my f's heart. I quickly phoned the Rx and they tells me that they just no longer carry neither Endocet nor Mallinkrot. And also that I could not bring medication back that doesn't have a seal! I demanded them to just give me back my script in exchange for this garbage because I could at least go get the Watson 932 for a month now I'm stuck with these b******!!!!!! I told the pharmacist after 20 odd years it's a shame that our relationship would have to come to a halt because of this s***ty medication. I was spending hundreds on mess per month there. His lost not mine. Guess I'll just have to tough out a month of this worthless Alvogen 230 garbage bulls*** and always handle my own pill supply reup. S***s a damn shame! Nobody else doesn't care or know what we go thru with these D grade meds. One mistake costs us the patient a whole month of pure hell! Whoever created these F's pills should be gutted while still alive and handed their own heart. This s*** is all about the profits their making off this commercial phoney not one positive patient approval rating from this waste! Like I said Mallinkrot, Amneal, & Watson make a better product. Complete fail!!!! If Endocet is finally off the market then it's Watson 932 for me.
