Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 2)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Hi Jan, glad to hear your doctor appt. went well and you can get some good pain relief. Are you going to be refilling your rx with the endocet then? Did you say you have used that one before? What do you think about roxicet too for pain control? My rx is due to be re-filled in 10 days - don't know what to do I can't be stuck again for 30 days with all the pain. I also have nerve pain in my neck from the herniated discs and nothing OTC ever will help me. Thanks for all your advice - appreciate it so much. Lola

Hi Lola,

I was told something simular about my neck. I'm pretty sure, that I'm going to go with the "Qualitest" brand. I've had endocet before, and it made me pretty anxious. I have 16 days to go, so like you I'm trying to hang in there. I start Gabapentin after the 5 days of steroids. I hope it helps with the nerve pain, because I need some type of relief. I'm still struggling to finish my project. I'm finished with the afghan, but I need to get the flowers on it. I'm going to try again in a few minutes. Were you able to find any relief for the withdrawal? I hope so. To answer the other question, I havn't used roxicet, because I always assumed it was simular to endocet. I could be wrong though. I havn't done any research on that. Feel free to contact me, it's never a burden. I hope you find some pain relief today.

Jan

Hi Lola,

This Actavis is crap. It does not work. It is giving me many side effects such as nausea, irritated eyes and drowsiness. Saturday night I slept for 18 hours. What the heck. I hate thiscrap. I go to a Pain Clinic and have left them a message. My Rx is not due until 4-24-14. You cant even call the Pain CLinic directly, you have to leave a message. I had a brain hemorrahge and suffer tremendous head pain. yes I am angry depressed and not happy. I guess I will try oure oxcodone IF they will give it to me. I work full time and this is BS. How are you Lola and Jan?

Hi Martin,

Yes, this Actavis is the worst. I don't think it will stand the test of time. Even though my message was ignored by the company, I think people will continue to complain about this drug. The complaints need to also go to the pharmacy. Because, they had a more direct line to the drug companies. When I call the pharmacy, they say they have not had any complaints about i, so they think everything is fine. I'm going to call Costco today, to find out what brand they have. I hate counting down the days, until my next pain prescription. I really feel bad for you Martin, I can't imagine going to work with this awful drug. I hope you can get some pain relief, and welcome to the forum.

Hi Martin, this actavis is ruining my life and SO many others. They just can't let this happen to so many people who need the watson brand to work for their pain and have a life. We must band together and start a legal suit if they are causing people to go to the ER and are making people so deathly ill this has to stop and it has to stop now. This drug is making so many sick and not relieving the pain which is what this drug states it is intended to do and it does not do what it says it is intended to do. It is total BS and a failure at a generic medicine. I feel for your pain and I too cannot get my RX filled for 8 more days and I have been in withdrawals and do not wish what I am going through on anyone.

Hi Jan, Lisa, Lola:
Thank God at least I have found people who understand. This is driving me insane. My Pain Clinic called me back. They got me in in 3-18-14. Two more weeks. Whoopdedoo. I have to see a doctor as opposed to a PA. I'm sure he will rake me over the coals as usual.
I tried to call Actavis and was on hold. I compained to the Pharmacist and they were like who cares this is all we sell. The nurse at the Clinic didnt seem to know anything. I work as a finacial analyst for a company and look at numbers and analyze reports all day. By the end of the day, my brain and head are fried. Feel as if going crazy. Still dont understand, do I switch to Endocet, Roxi or just oure Oxycodone? Anyone know? The pharm also said Dilaudid but that is awfully strong. After dinner, I take a half of this Actavis crap and it helps for 10 minutes then makes me edgy, nauseous and painful. What is this crap drug? Keep posting ladies as I am going crazy. How id everyone else doing?

Martin

Hi Jan, how are you? Happen to see your post to Martin and was wondering if you found out what Costco carries? 7 days until I can get my RX filled and it won't be with this Actavis that is for sure so I want to find a pharmacy that carries something different and we have a costco here. Hope your day is going okay. Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Yes it is ruining our lives. I compained to the pharmacist and she was like whatever. Amazing how these people can be so uncaring. My nurse said take Tylenol. That would be like peeing on a forest fire. Not very effective.
i agree, I would not wish this on anyone. I am not a happy camper and it is affecting my work, relationships etc. I see the doc on 3-18. You said you have 8 days to go. Do you know what you're going to try? keep posting please

Hi Martin, I agree the pharmacists don't understand what chronic pain is really all about and we won't get any help from them about these awful pills. As far as what I am going to go with I don't think I am going to get the endocet I have heard some people say it makes them too sleepy and I believe Jan mentinoed they made her anxious and I don' want to feel any anxiety from a pill at all so won't be going with endocet. So, it is either Roxicet or brand name. But,the brand name is going to be alot I do have insurance but have to check into what it will pay. In the meantime, I am going to have to call around and see who has the Roxicet but I thought I read some place that Target carried it because it is made by Roxanne Laboratories. i just know that when the day comes and i walk up to the pharmacy window i will NOT hand over my RX to them to fill if I dont know exactly what I will be getting. These withdrawals are just horrible I am sweating alot now, irritable, anxious and I won't even mention how high my pain is today. What do you think you will get the next time your re-fill is available?

Hi Lisa,

Well yes the Endocet does not sound good does it? I go to a fairly large pain clinic and you see a different doc every time. I was with a PA and he is great. He had me all set and living well. But now i have to see the doctor becasue of the med change. They usually try and DOWNGRADE your pill strength. I will have to stand my ground. I would say I will try for Roxicet or Brand Oxycodone with the docotrs input. My old PA said the next step was Dilaudid but that may be too strong for me I dont know. Oh yeah, major night sweats and irritable. I take one after work and it works for 10 minutes and then heart racing and nausea. Greeaaat. My pain was 9 this morning but has dropped to a 6.

You had mentioned alot of people were having trouble with Actavis. Where else have you heard this? My pharmacy they are so slow and rude. walgreens right by a hospital. They could care less. Slower they work, the sooner they go home. You can email me at {edited for privacy} if you need to talk or if we are hogging this board.

Hello all,

I tried to get in touch with Costco, but no answer. I will try again later. I am so sad that everyone is in such pain. I think if we all refuse to accept that drug in the future, it will send a powerful message. After all, money talks and that would be hitting them in the pocketbook! Martin, my pharmacist didn't seem very concerned either. And like you said, the doctors give you a bad time, when you complain about pain medication. I was threatened to be put on Subuxone, when I complained as it tells you to do on your drug information sheet. Thankfully, I saw a different sports medicine doctor, and she said she does not want me taking Subuxone. She talked about how awful it is ect. So I hope I am fine for now, getting the percocet that I've been getting. She's also talking about those spinal epidurals again, which I would be open to consider. It's just nice to have someone show compassion, and not just threaten to kick me off pain medication. People always assume when something isn't working, that you are addicted. People just want pain relief. It makes me wonder, if this is someone's sick way, of trying to wean us off this medication? Stranger things have happened! I did start sewing my flowers onto the afghan that I made. Usually, that would not have taken this long. This drug sure slows you down. Keep in touch everyone. This support is really helpful.

Jan, saw your post which percocets are you taking right now if any? Are you still trying the Actavis? Or were you referring to a different medicine that was slowing you down. Thanks.

Hi Carol - how is your pain level today? Were you able to talk to your doctor about what generic you are going to take? Are you still taking the Actavis. I am waiting to get my new RX refilled and it will not be with Actavis EVER again. Just wondering which one you are going to go with as alot of people are wondering what other generic would be beneficial for pain control because this Actavis is just aspirin with a whole lot of other side effects

Hi Lisa,

i dont know what I'm going to get. sort of at the mercy of the pain doctors. I will be asking for oxycodone or roxicet. I am mad that the pharmacist didnt tell us. I asked why. She said' Oh, theyre supposed to". Lied right to my face. The doctors treat you like an addict when you ask to change. No perhaps we are the REAL pain sufferers who notice when a pain med is cut with aspirin and doesnt work for pain. Perhaps we're really in PAIN.They have played all kinds of games with me. We're just trying to survive!

Hi Lisa,

I am taking the percocet 5/325. This month the pharmacy didn't have Watson, they had Actavis. I called around that day, and a lot of pharmacies had switched to Actavis. Even CVS. Walmart said they didn't have any at all. So I went ahead and filled it at Walgreen's, my usual pharmacy. I only have 11 days to go now, and I can't wait. I'm actually afraid that I will run out, as this seems to require me to take more, to try to get some pain relief. As you probably read in my earlier post, I found some pretty good reviews on the Qualitest brand. I'm going to see if Costco has Watson first though. I will check again tomorrow as I couldn't get through today.

I should have said, this brand of this drug sure slows me down. I never had this problem with Watson brand. I was able to function normally.
