Best Non Addicting Anxiety Meds

The top rated ones have habit forming chemicals, like Xanax, Vallium. Are there any medicines that aren't addictive but still effective?

I am afraid that ANYTHING you take regularly carries a risk of becoming dependent or addicted to it.

The main thing of importance is to always see your doctor regularly and only take all medications exactly as prescribed.

You are correct that those in the Benzodiazepine family are the most habit forming.

You may wish to ask your doctor about some of the antidepressants, such as:

Some of them have been used to treat anxiety and have less addictive potential than the Benzodiazpines.

Yea i already considered anti depressants, but do they really work for anxiety and fear? The main thing about them seems to just treat sadness, depresssion. I want to feel normal again. I just have so much paranoia from some previous years. I hate it because it makes me not want to see the people who i used to be very close with. I'm afraid they might react negatively or something to anything that's changed about me since last time i saw them. There are some others things also. You know what's weird though? As hard as i try convincing myself that the fear is way out of proportion, i can't seem to actively accept it. It's like something's locked in my brain or whatever. I feel like ripping out my hair out of frustration, why can't i just believe what i know to be true? Sorry i'm just venting this to you, a stranger, But thank you for the info.

No problem, I don't mind the venting at all. It is what I am here for and believe it or not, I do have a lot of experience with medications in many areas.

My ex-husband had problems similar to yours and he did get very good results with the regular use of antidepressant medications.

The one he mainly used was Paxil (Paroxetine), it helped a lot with hs anxiety and panic attacks, as well as many other issues.

Another one that he had good results with was Trazodone, the generic for Desyrel.

The one that he still uses and has for many years is Paxil. For him, it seems to work the best and have the fewest annoying side effects.

There is no way to say for sure what may work for you. You can only discover this by trying them.

Benadryl is an antianxiety or, if you want to try the herbal route valarian root works well for a lot of people.
Or, if you are in a place where it's legal () marijuana is also really good for anxiety.
Some prescription non Benzodiazapines (like Xanax and Vallium) that help with anxiety that I have taken are Trazodone, Neurontin, Tegretol, and some antidepressants also are sometimes prescribed to treat anxiety.
