Hello, my name is Charles and I'm a permanently disabled ironworker. I became disabled from a serious construction accident in 2006 when I fell 2 stories working on the new World Trade Center Freedom Tower. I had a compound break of my left femur, requiring a rod from left hip to left knee, a totally rebuilt left knee with cadaver ligaments and meniscus, only to have a total knee replacement with artificial knee last fall of 2017. But in the accident, I shattered my right elbow requiring 7 operations just to regain a somewhat functioning right hand and I have Plates and screws That make up my right elbow and if that's not enough I also broke my collarbone in 2 places. From accident until I moved to Florida because the cold weather finally became too painful I was on the same dose of pain medications have every surgical report of the 12 operations I've had, my complete prescription history from the date of accident to now, all the physical therapy and alternative treatments I've tried to know avail.

Before my accident, my true love was playing golf with my father. Since moving to Florida I can not find a doctor to prescribe me anything close to what I was taking for years in New York, my dad is 73 yrs old and I don't know how much more time the good Lord is going to give me time to play golf together with him. I was taking 2 oxymorphones er 40mg pills in am and 2 in pm and was prescribed 6 hydromorphone 8mg pills for breakthrough pain. Like I said I have so much documentation for everything I've included in this post. All I'm looking for is a doctor in mid to south Florida (I'm living in Port Saint Lucie) that can help me to be able to enjoy life again and by enjoy life i mean be able to play golf with my dad again. If someone sees this post and can help me by giving me some information about doctors that can help me you would answer an old man's prayers and make me his son eternally grateful. If you can help me and do not want to post it please send me an email to: {edited for privacy}. Thank you.

I would research states before you move.
FLORIDA is a vomit bag when it comes to pain meds.
Most RED STATES are like that.
I am staying in Connecticut.
High taxes but I can get my pain meds and I'm in the medical mj program.
The combination is working out perfect for me.
I wish you all the luck in the world, but I know many who have moved away for the reasons you just described.

Re: Charles (# 87) Expand Referenced Message

I do not know if you can respond but I to had a horrible injury with screws etc.. I never got better and they finally found I have broken screws in my cervical spine about 2004. They are C5/6 and they were deemed too risky to do a revision unless it is to save my life! I had been treated with opioids probably a little longer than you. I would tell you all I have been though trying to find relief and keeping it but I would need to write a book. Of course I have lived in Florida where all this started and we are still in the midst of addiction and now doctors are just too afraid of DEA to us. I did finally have an implanted pain pump installed in hopes of finding a lasting solution but it has not helped me. I do not know what anyone can do to help me at this point but I would like to know if nothing else that you found help since I am so desperate that just knowing there was some sort of hope would help.

Re: Chris (# 93) Expand Referenced Message

I know you did not leave this for me but I have done everything and then some to find a solution after I was titrated downward by more than 50% I could take no more and finally had a pump implanted but that sadly has not helped me either. Now it seems I am just screwed. I am no spring chicken. I am 62 and was successfully treated for about 15 years with opioids .. I consider success to be able to move about once in a while. I have never failed a urine, no record, no problems ever with the medications that once helped me! I am however suffering like a dog without an owner or one that does not give a damn. If I were an animal I would have received compassionate care! Please just let me say Thank You. Even if I get no help it has given me hope!

I paid taxes all my life and all my family was in the military saving your coward drug addict self from extinction. Your not paying for my meds. MY FAMILY AND I PAID FOR THEM 100 TIMES OVER. How dare you talk about working in pain. You obviously don't have ANY pain.

David, people in pain CANNOT STOP TAKING MEDS SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO FUNCTION. The difference between ADDICTS and people in pain are ADDICTS TAKE PAIN MEDS RECREATIONALLY, PEOPLE IN PAIN GET PAIN RELIEF AND NO HIGH, ADDICTS WILL TAKE OTHER DRUGS OR NOT FOLLOW THEIR PRESCRIPTION AND TAKE MORE, PEOPLE IN PAIN JUST TAKE WHAT THEY ARE PRESCRIBED EVEN IN A CRISIS WHERE THEY ARE NOT PROPERLY PRESCRIBED and have to obtain their prescription in other ways, they will ONLY TAKE THEIR MEDICATION responsibly. WHY? BECAUSE THEY DONT FEEL HIGH, THEY DON'T USE EXCUSES TO ABUSE DRUGS AND THEY JUST TAKE AND VIEW THEIR PAIN MEDS LIKE ITS INSULIN OR WATER PILLS. ONLY AN ADDICT WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND THIS. ONLY AN ADDICT WOULD TRY TO STOP EVERYONE FROM GETTING THIS MEDICINE BECAUSE ONLY AN ADDICT KNOWS THE EUPHORIA AND FEARS THE LOSS OF CONTROL. DAVID YOU ARE AN ADDICT AND NO ONE SHOULD LOSE THEIR ABILITY TO WALK AND LIVE FOR YOU. I'D RATHER SEE THE EXTINCTION OF SCABS ON SOCIETY THEN TO SEE PEOPLE WHO CAN BE PRODUCTIVE LOSE THEIR LIVES. I Don't care if you or the rest of the Narcissistic Euphoria seeks OD or go to prison. If YOU WANT TO GIVE UP YOUR LIFE SO EASILY FOR A HIGH, THEN YOU DESERVE TO DIE.

And Mr. David, when I say I take one tylenol and 2 if I need another, that is because the max dose is 2. So, I don't ever think about taking 6. If I take 100mg of tramadol and it doesn't cover the pain, then I tell my doctor so he can prescribe something else. That is the difference between someone in pain and you.

Allison,

I pray your the help that I've asked God for. After reading your post and seeing your a GA Peach by birth makes me even more excited. I am 45 and have been disabled since 2000. I have degenerative disc disease, I've already gone thru 3 back surgeries and I live in constant pain. I was supposed to have a fourth surgery last May but 2 days before the surgery I backed out. I wish I would have never had the first surgery. Since then life has been pretty much downhill from there. I suffer from type II diabetes, I am grossly overweight, since I can't move around a lot. My last surgery they fused my L4-L5, L5-S1. When I last saw a Dr about my back he scheduled the surgery so fast my head was spinning. He seemed to eager to cut me up, after all the only way it was going to affect him was by his wallet. Anyway the discs above AND below the fusion have now crunched inward causing more pressure on the nerves and more on my back and legs. I also have discs messed up on my throat area but i cant remember the specifics. I have been diagnosed with fibra-myalga(I know my spelling stinks) high bp, high cholesterol, low testosterone, I have glaucoma, restless leg syndrome, and I'm sure there's more but you get the idea. Every thing that I have gone through has been documented. I have gone thru pt, acupuncture, and I even reluctantly went to a chiropractic dr. I lived in Asheville NC most of my life but this past year I suffered an incredible amount of loss. Back in Aug of 2014, my cousin died unexpectedly, in Oct 2014 my Aunt died, Then on Jan 10, 2015 I suffered the greatest loss of my life, my mother. After having gone thru this shear hell in pain all these years it never prepared me for the pain I suffered when I lost my Mama. Then two weeks later another cousin died at the age of 30, and not two weeks after that HIS father, my cousin died. Two months later in March I lost my last Blood related Aunt. She was the one I was closest to. She had 4 kids and I had 3 brothers so whenever we did anything growing up there was a herd of us that's for sure. Then three weeks later I lost a dear friend in Fayetteville and a few weeks after that I lost another dear friend in Raleigh........SOOOOOO pardon me but this has been one helluva year. Thru it all though my Dr took care of me but he told me in Jan of 2015 that he would be retiring at the end of October. I was devastated. He has been my Dr since a was but a young child. He was my Dr for 34 years and it felt as if I had just lost ANOTHER family member because he has been there for me for most of my life. He recommended that I start looking for a Dr down in Ga because I had been traveling back and forth from NC to Ga every month or so because I would go to stay with my mother to help her at home but then I had my own son in GA that needed me. SOOOOOO that's why I'm writing to you. I am having a nightmare trying to find a Dr that will help me. I have been taking 13 30mg oxycodone for years now and it is the ONLY THING THAT WORKS FOR ME!!! My Dr in NC tried everything in the book to help my pain. We tried morphine, dilauded, hydracodone, and even fyntinal patches but I sweat profusely and the patches won't stick. My Dr even tried mixing different drugs to help but nothing worked. I could take the dilauded and it were as though I never took anything. I know the govt is trying to do something positive by putting these measures in place to stop the addicts and the dealers, however it is putting the injured populance of this country on notice that they don't really give a hoot about us. I don't take drugs to feel high. I'm no dope head. I'm just a obese man that has very little in this life to enjoy. I can tell you this without a doubt that they MAY get the numbers of overdoses down and hey I'm happy about that, but it will come with a cost, In order to reduce the overdoses of drug addicts that kill and steal to get money to get a fix what they are going to see is men and women that currently (for some of them) have a happy and fulfilling life because they keep their pain under control but without our meds this govt is going to stand in horror when they come to realize that the spike in suicides from middle aged and older folks grew exponentially because of their buracracy. If a person like me lives in constant pain I can not even throw a ball with my OVERLY ENERGETIC SON THAT HAS ADHD!!!!SOOOOOO long story short I need to find a Dr nearby that will take me on as a chronic pain patient. Like I said everything is documented and I even have a letter of recommendation from my Dr explain my case and how I have NEVER had a problem with my scripts. I have ALWAYS HAD THE!M FILLED IN A TIMELY MANNER!!! Those are just a couple of things he wrote in the letter. I can get all of these files to your old dr/hopefully my new Dr. So if there is anyway you can help I will jump thru whatever hoop he needs me to jump thru. I live in the Eatonton/Milledgeville area. Zip code is 31024. I think it's about an hour and a half drive but it will be worth it. So I close this letter with just a glimpse of hope, I don't want to get my hopes up again. So if you can help me I would be ever so grateful. {edited for privacy}. Thank-you so much for your help in advance. You are an Angel heaven sent. Thanks for your time.

P450,

You are illiterate and cannot read obviously. Also seem to have some brain damage because if not you would realize that this blog has you make up a nickname every time you post. Someone may not post for a month etc.. and not remember what nickname they used or you may think its the same person when it's not.

Do you have a child that you nurse ALL day long while you can barely walk? You have no empathy for anyone. Being diabetic and having permanent and degenerative arthritis with other health conditions made me obese.

When you can't move and your body does not even absorb food properly, you gain weight. I had one Doctor, who wasn't a complete greedy creep like most. Many of these creeps barely passed and paid people to write their papers but you don't see their transcripts when you shell out $100s. The one Doctor gave me pain meds, insulin and other medication which just by these meds alone I was able to MOVE and my body used the 1200 calorie food that kept me OVER 500lbs, so that just this allowed me to get to 200lbs.

From then I was now able to exercise and reduce to 120 until I moved to the most odious State in the USA...Florida. I have lost 100 pounds now, living on nothing just to buy the medication these disgusting slug Doctors that can suck money out of every cavity you have but don't dare to sue the State of Florida to HELP THEIR PATIENTS. I am taking what my Doctor prescribed (dosage), but I can't afford the quantity I am supposed to have.

I won't die or not have anyway to take care of my child. This is MY LIFE and NO ONE should have the right to oppress someone through governing their medications.

If you are a Doctor who IS NOT Retarded, as they are in Florida....You can see the signs of a drug addict. They will keep asking for more, and they are EASY for anyone else to spot.

The PROBLEM is not ADDICTS. It is LAZY & TERRIBLE Florida Doctors who barely made it through school. I have been here just a few years and I HAVE HAD TO CORRECT more than 20 Doctors records for just my child alone. I have saved my child SIX times from being prescribed meds that would have harmed him because either the Retarded Doctor DID NOT remember one of my child's illnesses, one of my child's medications or one of my child's allergies.

DONT expect ANYONE in Florida SCAM SCUM state to assist you in ANY WAY. They think EVERYONE grew up in this Hell hole.

And btw, I have like 2 posts on here. You are just too ignorant to see others might have the same opinion on this situation or on a Doctor that was too busy collecting his money to realize some guy was asking him for an increase of meds every week. Dr. Chowderhead is not a Doctor. He is a foreigner who couldn't get licenses outside of Florida.

OMG You are really ill informed and full of excuses Mr David. Everyone that takes pain medication suffers physical withdrawal. ADDICTS suffer Psychological withdrawal. Suffering physical withdrawal does not make you ADDICTED or an ADDICT. I had to take medication in the Middle East that had the SAME physical withdrawal as 10x opiates. An addict can't just stop and go through the physical withdrawal because they want to feel HIGH and they like the euphoria. When I had to travel I was offered Methadone. I just stopped taking the meds. It was a horrid physical withdrawal but the ONLY thing that disturbed me was the pain without medication. I became crippled until I was able to get other medication. I didn't take methadone. I just stopped. I don't "LIKE' pain meds. Most of them make me sick as hell. I don't enjoy feeling like I want to puke my guts out. Also everyone's pain is different. Our nervous systems are wired differently. That is why there is a responsibility of the patient.. NOT THE DOCTOR to recognize what is enough and what is too much. I was prescribed 80mg of oxycodone at one point and I was taking 15 to 40 maximum a day. When I was biking 30 miles and engaging in heavy activity I had MORE pain. If I was not doing much or straining myself 15 was covering my pain. I am tired of hearing whiny BS stories. When you have a headache do you take 6 tylenols? I take one and then I take another if it doesn't work. It is the same with Ibuprofen, Tramadol, Oxycodone etc.

Can your doctor help me find a Dr. in Florida who will prescribe Oxycodone. I have been on Morphine, Tramadol, Vicoden, Tylox Percoct, etc etc and only Oxycodone doesn't require me eating all day so my stomach wont be sick. I was almost 600lbs in a wheelchair and I moved to GA. Doctor there prescribed me 80mg of oxycodone a day and I went down to 120lbs. I was riding a bike for the first time in my life. I went out of the country to get plastic surgery for my body and I married and had a baby overseas, still 120lbs, I came back and moved to Florida.

I begged the doctors here to help, within 2 years without pain meds, Im 400lbs almost back in the wheelchair and they sent the Sheriff out already trying to find a way to take my little 3 year old away. I will never have the money again to redo my surgery and I can't lose my son. Please someone help me. I waited 15 years to walk again and now I can barely walk.

I have my records from overseas but I had a fraud mortgage from countrywide and they took my houses and all my records, family videos and photos, everything, so my USA records are lost and the doctor I went in GA is dead or retired because I can't find him. All my little boy has is me. I am in so much pain. I just move to care for him and stay still whenever I can.

Why I am gaining weight---I have OTHER HEALTH CONDITIONS TOO. I was eating 600 calories a day and bicycling 30 miles each day to maintain a healthy weight because that is how MY BODY WORKS. I HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF EXERCISE AND I CAN BARELY WALK. Doctors here are scum. They are uneducated and only care about money. I have an allergy on paper, that I had since childhood to something they are putting in everything now. Even with ALL the proof and paperwork these doctors are stupid that they dont understand it doesnt matter what it is in, if you have a severe allergy YOU CANT TAKE IT. I had that dumb illiterate Dr had his secretary tell me that my only being able to take certain brands is drug seeking behavior. OMFG! If a doctor can't understand a LETTER from 5 Freaking doctors that say a person can die if they eat, smell etc something, they ARE NOT A DOCTOR. The ONLY Doctors here are stupid Florida educated illiterates that got passed through. The only other doctors from the North are rejects who got suspended in NY etc and came down to dumbland FL to practice. Sorry but I say it as it is. If I know more than my Doctor, that Doctor needs to be an Dishwasher not a Doctor.

You should probably worry about seeing a psychiatrist or addiction counselor. I see you posted a month before with a different name but similar story. I hope the state takes your child away so he can be safe. You obviously have some sort of mental problem, not chronic pain.
