How Long Will Fentanyl Remain In Your Body
UpdatedI was on hydrocodone, xanax, soma and I was given a fentanyl patch 100mcg due to a fall. It damn near killed me. Because of sheer stupidity, I cut this patch and took a minuscule amount of the gel, evidently an extreme amount went into my system. My nurse at the time (I actually had a HH RN) was there 30 minutes after I took it, I was having chest pain, was very confused. And a ROOKIE paramedic gave me Morphine! 4mg IV push was added to the prior "recipe/concoction" and it through me in to SEVERE Respiratory Depression.
I was breathing 6RPM in less than a 7 minute ride to the ER / unconscious of course; and a Nurse Practitioner in her infinite wisdom without looking at my med list, or seeing I was taking medication for chronic pain gave me Narcan which could have put me in full withdrawal, cardiac arrest, seizures. Luckily I woke up, all that happened was the most aggravating burning sensation I've ever felt for about 20 minutes. Compare it to a 2° burn all over your body.
I am an ex doc / medic so I knew better. Anyone taking medication for pain, anxiety, other problems can and most likely will become physically / psychologically dependent varying levels for different people. And you will eventually make a mistake, hopefully not a fatal mistake of overdosing, i.e. "Over Medicating" (That term is used if you have a 6 figure $ income or better to avoid public scandal) its true you are treated as a junkie if your income is lower, and if you're a chronic pain patient. I never treated patients with anything other than total respect. I guess that's why God has kept me around for such a long time. Not getting into religion, just a comment.
