Wean Off Epitec

Updated

Hi there I am 22 years old I have been on epileptic medication and anti depressants for 12 years as I had a brain tumour at the age of 9. I am suddenly having concerns about the medication I am on, I was on Epilem for several years for the epilepsy, until I was changed to lamictin about 10 years ago. I've been on many anti depressants as well as Concerta and Ritalin as I was once diagnosed ADHD. Now all I have been taking for the past 8 years have been Lamictan and Cipralex. However over the last year I went on the generic Epetic and I stopped taking cipralex this year as I had a spiritual awakening and found the need to try cure it on my own as I have been on so much medication that I feel my body wants to become addicted to it. I now have just started a more generalized anxiety pill called Risperidoon as I am suffering PTSD and a bit of depersonalization from what I have been through and what I think, the pills have done to me as I am changing now that I have been off them but in my belief it's a good thing. My concern though is not the anti depressant I went off as I am better but the fact that I am still on Epitec after all these years when the doctors said a month ago after a check up that I no longer have any signs of epilepsy. I am worried because I feel that I am taking such strong meds and don't need them, and we cannot book a soon enough appointment, but I feel a strong need to wean myself off them, can anybody help! And is a spiritual awakening or going through depersonalization and PTSD natural after such trauma and medication diagnosis after all these years?

After taking Ritalin and Concerta for a couple years my son was also diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 9. We're you taking the Ritalin and Concerta prior to being diagnosed with your brain tumor?

Re: Janet (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Hi there, no I was not taking anything for concentration but only epilem as I started showing signs of epilepsy when the brain tumor grew bigger. Only after the brain tumor did I start taking anti depressants and continuing my epileptic medication

I'm very surprised because this is the first time I've seen a story where some went thru a spritual awakening (like me) and also trying to stop the medications. I also have PTSD from my experience and I'm in a struggle with many things trying to better my life... I'm in a very similar situation and my PTSD is from my awakening. Wish I could be a better help, but I hope the best for you in this awakening. Take care.
