Adderall Generics Thread (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

Hey guys. Most of us are probably in the same boat--our Adderall doesn't work and it's horrible and we can't function well and it's bull**** and we all know that, but there are other threads/forums to vent frustration. We need a thread with the basics to help us all get going again or to know what to avoid (even though that seems like all of them these days, ha.) PLEASE POST THE FOLLOWING: 1. MANUFACTURER OF YOUR RECENT ADDERALL PRESCRIPTION 2. XR OR IR? HOW MANY MG? COLOR/SHAPE/IMPRINT? (if possible) 3. ***PHARMACY NAME*** AND MONTH/YEAR OF SCRIPT 4. YOUR LOCATION (if you are comfortable with that) 5. SIDE EFFECTS/SYMPTOMS. GOOD? BAD? Generally speaking, chain pharmacies use the same manufacturer at all of their locations throughout the country and that will make it easier for us to either get a hold of that specific manufacturer's Adderall, OR to avoid it if it's a bad batch. Replies to other posts are allowed, but please try to stay on topic so that the thousands of people viewing this thread can easily keep track when they are going in for their monthly prescription. Thanks so much!

Posted this on a similar thread, but it's important so I'm posting it here too.

TRY MYLAN IR.

Been suffering for almost a year with horrible Teva Adderall. Felt druggy. Depression, exhausted, everything bleak. It was just not like how it used to be made. And I recently developed a weird reaction with an inflamed mouth, sores, throat issues...I was sick for the last two months, doctors couldn't figure it out, but it would all go away a day after I stopped taking the Adderall. I did it three times as an experiment to confirm it was the Adderall. Yup! (ANYONE ELSE HAVE SOMETHING SIMILAR? VERY CURIOUS!)

Signed up on this forum just now to let you guys know I did the usual BS, calling all around my area (Denver) to see if by chance anyone is carrying Sandoz, Core, Sun, etc. Something other than Teva, Aurobindo, and Mallincrap.

Turns out, Sam's Club had Mylan. 30mg. I hadn't read much about Mylan before, as an Adderall IR generic, but I got excited and told them I will have my doctor send them a script. Hadn't ever been to Sam's Club, but you don't need a membership to use the pharmacy.

Well: it's working. My depression feels at bay. I'm not drugged out, nor lethargic, nor speedy. Just focused and doing my thing. Like how I remember it used to be when I took Sandoz. I woke up feeling GOOD. I haven't felt that in months. It feels nearly identical to how I remember Sandoz, almost three years ago, confirming to me that it has all been crap, crap, crap for the last year or two. Confirming that it's not just in my head, that it's not all about me hitting tolerance or coming up with some rationale. It's a revolting industry that has control of the people and they can do anything they want. It all comes down to money.

I have found that taking Teva has been better than taking nothing, but barely. It's like settling in a relationship, versus actually feeling alive and inspired. Teva is so hit-or-miss, but I'm sure y'all know this and feel the same. I used to be a skeptic but I've tested enough and observed enough to know that all of this is very real, and very sad, and very unfortunate, and it's just not stopping. Which is insane based on how many thousands of us have complained to the FDA. They're all in on it. Money. It's easy to ignore how bad it is until you yourself are suffering. Then you see the sad, bleak reality.

Anyway, Mylan! Sam's Club!

Medication: Adderall (Amphet/dextro combo) 20mg tablet
Manufacturer: Teva
Who carries it: Walmart, Central Ohio
Effects: Medication peaks at about 60 minutes after administration. It has a rapid decline, and it's therapeutic effects begin to wear off after about 2 hours.

Once the therapeutic effects have worn off, fatigue, depression and sore back muscles occur. This happens approx 4-6 hours after administration of medication. The next morning is difficult, consisting of hopelessness, foggy brain, depression, no motivation etc., unless medication is taken immediately upon awakening. The cycle repeats and continues. I used to be on Corepharma, however since it's discontinuation, I have not found a comparable generic.

These pharmacies carry Aurobindo: Kroger and CVS in Central Ohio + Walmart in Central Ohio has also carried Mylan. Some of these pharmacies are not consistent in which manufacturers they keep in stock.

Truman (#19) --

FYI, the pills you are describing aren't actually made by Teva...

(*All of the following are in reference to 30mg Adderall-like IR products)

light orange round stamp U31 = Aurolife Pharmaceuticals (Aurobindo)
yellow round stamp MP447 = Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Inc.

Teva is currently putting their name on two Adderall-like IR 30mg products that are both made up of the exact same ingredients: dextroamphetamine saccharate, amphetamine aspartate, dextroamphetamine sulfate, and amphetamine sulfate. Both are a single-entity amphetamine product combining the neutral sulfate salts of dextroamphetamine and amphetamine, with the dextro isomer of amphetamine saccharate and d, l-amphetamine aspartate.

One is being sold as their "generic" and one is being sold as the only "BRAND NAME Adderall IR" currently on the market. However, whether there are actually any differences whatsoever in regards to any of the ingredients, either active &/or inactive, or the formulation and any of it's related methods, remains to be seen...

"Brand Name Adderall IR" = Peach, Round, dp 3 | 0

"Generic for Adderall = Mixed Salts of a Single Entity Amphetamine Product, aka. D-Amphetamine Salt Combo. aka. Amphetamine Salts, etc." = Orange, Elliptical/Oval, b 974 3 | 0

I have personally gone though several of the documents they have submitted to the FDA related to both of these products, and have not yet found one difference between the make-up of the two, except for of course, the pill's identifying markers and the package labeling.

{*Sorry I'm just too exhausted to go into the details about how they got the "brand name" & the shell game they are playing with manufacturer's names & labeling...will have to save that for another time!}

So to be fair, I will refrain from stating at this time that they are in fact the exact same product, until I can finish going over ALL of their documents & records, or until I can try them out myself concurrently. (I had previously been on their generic for approx. 8+ years, but over the past 1-2 years, their efficacy has dropped to a level so low, I just could not take it anymore.)

But unfortunately, I really have not experienced ANYTHING in this category, that is currently available on the market, to be anywhere even near to decent. :(

I have felt much of what you described over the last couple of months, since it seems like everybody out there has tinkered with their formulas, and all to a hugely negative effect. Today was my 1st day on the Sandoz 30mg IR and I literally have not gotten out of bed (for more than 5 minutes at a time) in approx. 26 hours...and I was not even sleeping the whole time, because that would actually be more normal for me, but just sitting here kinda zoning... It's horrific and really feels like zero quality of life.

Anyway, just hoping this info. helps you on your journey... I don't want anybody else to have to go through the same hellish learning curve I had to! Good luck! ;)

30mg Adderall IR- Indiana/Illinois area Sandoz brand from CVS.
Works great for me and has changed my life within a week of switching from Teva/Barr and yes I’ve tried every other brand too even brand name car still choose Sandoz by far! 30mg tablets are on backorder at every Cvs I’ve been too had to go to 4 different Cvs to find one that said they only got it on accident and they weren’t scheduled to have more til October! So idk if it’s just 30mg I had no problem with 20mg but yah this is real and is on the FDA shortage list due to the dea blocking the amount allowed to treat afflicted patients and the fda is mad at them for causing this shortage—like Richard Nixon said “I can not tell a lie” thank your local police for regulating your medicine and throwing all your doctors in jail.

Got Aurobindo one month, Teva the next, IR 20 mg, from CVS and Walgreen's respectively, both on the Central Coast of California. I would like to find a reputable lab to send these pills to as I am pretty sure they contain little to no amphetamines. Aurobindo pills literally made me fall asleep. Teva made me drowsy, unmotivated, depressed, and caused upper GI issues, even worse.

My theory is that the DEA/FDA/Big Pharma are conspiring to make sure that there is not only no more actual instant release amphetamines in these pills, but also to pack them with other substances that cause new physical symptoms, prompting us to go to the doctor to receive new diagnoses that require non-scheduled medications. For example, I can't count the number of times in the last few years that I've read about an ADHD patient on generic Adderall subsequently developing GERD and being prescribed PPIs.

And of course, anything we say about how generic Adderall does not work the way Shire's original brand name Adderall did is dismissed as "nocebo effect" or "tolerance". B.S. I found an expired brand name Shire Adderall and took it and it worked as advertised for my ADHD and narcolepsy symptoms. These new generics do not.

With the insane War on (Patients Prescribed) Opiates, is it any surprise that they are now targeting patients prescribed the other class of Schedule 2 medicines, i.e. stimulants, particularly amphetamines, albeit in a more sneaky manner, i.e. changing what is in our meds and not admitting to it, rather than just arresting doctors who are adequately treating patients for their pain and manipulating the public into demonizing opiates and acting as if marijuana is a cure-all?

My TEVA 30mg Adderall IR (D-AMPHETAMINE SALT COMBO 30MG TABS) this month is exceptional. Been struggling for over a year with these stupid generics, usually getting TEVA and it barely worked and came with such negative side effects. I would get MYLAN from Sam's Club last year, and it worked well, though a 30mg felt more like a 20mg. But it didn't have the negative side effects and as of like January they would no longer special order them for me.

Anyway, something has changed because this TEVA batch is working. I got it from Walgreens in Colorado. No irrational depression. No irrational anxiety. No irrational fatigue, lethargy, and sleeping 14 hours. I had heard nothing on any forum recommending this, I was expecting crap again, but with the first dose I was like...holy wow. It's been four days now and each day has been better than any Adderall day I can remember in the last year.

I've gone off Adderall twice in the last year because of the bad generics, but I'm prescribed it for treatment resistant depression. My depression is HORRIBLE without the Adderall. Like...yeah, you don't even want to know. With the typical bad TEVA Adderall in the past year or so my depression is really bad, but not quite at suicidal territory as it is without it. But damn close.

So for what it's worth I'm just here to report that this batch works. FOR ME. As I remember Adderall working a couple years ago. Your mileage may vary, obviously--your pharmacy might have an older batch--it might be a new formula, might be hit or miss due to the poor oversight on the FDA's part. Who knows why, but I'm simply reporting this to try to help others who have been stuck in a dark hole because of the horrible generics as of late (more like as of the last years, ha.) Again, though, this is my personal experience.

Anyone else have any input on a recent refill of Teva?

Again, this prescription was filled on November 14th at Walgreens in Colorado. Denver area.

Prasco
XR 25 mg - orange and white capsule w/writing on it
Walgreens - California

GERD, chronic hives, insomnia, drastic weight gain, headaches, unmotivated, no focus, anxiety, body aches.

Terrible experience with this horrible generic brand of Adderall XR from Prasco. Had to to switch from brand to generic due to insurance issues. First had meds refilled at CVS (I think their generic brand was Sandoz?). Started in Jan. 2018 to April 2018. It was okay - nothing like the brand but didn't have as much of these bad side effects from Prasco. From April 2018 to Jan. 2019 I’ve been on the Prasco from Walgreens since I wanted to save a little more out of pocket. My doctor was the one who actually brought this to my attention as the possible reason for my side effects. Tomorrow I go back to the brand name Adderall XR and will post updates (hopefully good) soon.

For someone that has been on Adderall sine 2005, I can honestly say that there is a huge difference in side effects and drug efficacy between brand and generics. Same is true between comparing one generic to another. They sell some trashy generic brands out there and the effects can be astronomical. Cost is definitely a factor and it is sad that regulations are not all that fair. Be careful and know what you are taking.

1. Actavis
2. 30mg XR
3. CVS-Dec. 2018
Used to have Teva generic, have had Actavis at least past three years (diagnosed 12 years ago at age 38). Slowly, I have gained 20 lbs (some due to age I’m sure), but lethargy is terrible. Decided to try one of my daughter’s 10mg since it was a different generic, Sandoz, instead of my 30 mg. HOLY COW....I am now calling pharmacies to get my new script filled with ANYTHING other than Actavis. Sandoz made me feel normal, focused, not irritable and I actually got stuff done. All equal...I call BS

I take 5mg twice a day for fatigue and excessive daytime sleepiness. Have been taking Lannett (blue oval - e502 Side 1), filled at Walgreens. Walgreens suddenly seems to have switched to Camber (blue round - T 372 Side 1) This product is WAY worse than the Lennett. Takes forever to work, is weak and poops out after an hour. I feel like a zombie. Will try to fill my next script at Publix or Walmart. Any experience with these two?

Re: George G (# 84) Expand Referenced Message

The pharmacist at Publix told me when I questioned the manufacturer source shown as Rhodes Pharmce (? correct spelling on my prescription label) They dispense the Generic brand they receive from the main office for Adderall. This brand did nothing for my ADHD and my insomnia became worse. I did research via internet and was shocked at the amount of info.

Re: Patti B (# 87) Expand Referenced Message

I got the Rhodes Pharmace brand 30mg generic for Adderall for the first time about a week ago. It did almost nothing. My doctor had bumped my dose up from 20mg to 30mg because the 20mg wasn't as effective anymore. But this Rhodes brand 30mg wasn't near as effective as the 20mg I was taking before.

1. Sunrise Pharmaceuticals, Inc
2. 20 mg IR dextroamphetamine. Round peach pill imprinted with N34 on one side.
3. Campus pharmacy Tucson, AZ. September 2022.

This is the second time I have received the generic from this manufacturer and has been absolute garbage both times. It is ineffective - I have to take double my normal dose to notice any difference at all. I first received the sunrise generic a couple months back then got a different generic last month (not sure of the manufacturer - white pill 20mg IR) and it was a huge difference compared to the sunrise generic, i.e. it actually worked. Unfortunately, I received the sunrise crap again this month and now have to wait until my next refill to get a generic that actually works. Avoid Sunrise pharmaceuticals generic 20mg.

Re: HCStymie (# 99) Expand Referenced Message

Aurobindo is the absolute worst. I’m almost sure it has almost no active ingredient and is all chalk. I will make 20+ calls to pharmacies until I can find Teva, which seems like it’s not as good as it used to be but still better than any other generics I’ve tried (which is most off them). ‘Bindos should be banned imo

1. Teva (I think, honestly with the way they work now I couldn't tell)
2. IR 20mg twice a day. Light Orange football
3. CVS Jan 2018
4. Right outside Pitt
5. I got a script last month (December 2018) from a giant eagle (same mgs/area) of teva from a giant eagle and the pills are SO much more potent than the new ones i just picked up from a CVS this month. I could go to sleep even when I take 40mgs this month at once as opposed to 20mg last month. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Re: MauMaMa (# 30) Expand Referenced Message

Thanks MauMaMa for all that. I actually got the brand name Adderall last month which was not covered. I paid $435 for 60 pills which I can't afford but needed to see the difference. Huge difference - I am functioning without feeling a heart attack coming on, rather calm. Will keep searching for a decent generic.

Re: DannyDowner (# 52) Expand Referenced Message

What do you do in this situation? Ask your doctor/pharmacy if you got BS pills?? ... or question the quality of who they get them from? I’ve wanted to ask but have hesitated because it’s awkward. I don’t want to seem like an addict... but I’ve been taking these long term, therefore I’m dependent on them (apparently), so this bad ‘batch’ has really affected me mentally. I mean, this is the first time (month) this has happened... the generics all the past 8 years have been just fine.

Teva
Miami
10mg

Made me hungry, sleepy dry mouth.
Headaches and nausea the first week. Horrible.
No one in Miami let’s you call ahead or order anything you want. Everything is a hassle. I can’t even ask on phone, I have to go in person. So frustrating. I have a book to finish and 4 classes and haven’t been able to be productive all day. I have a terrible headache.

Re: T (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Hey! Was wondering if you called Sandoz bc I called them a week ago and inquired about the generic adderall IR I thought was Sandoz E401 imprint and the lady in the phone said they don’t make them anymore so I checked the pamphlet that came with my prescription and it said Eon labs which I thought was a subsidiary of Sandoz. These are the only IR adderall that has worked for me in months (have had Aurobindo, Teva, and Northstar and they were awful especially northstar) anyway, I’ve searched high and low and have found no way whatsoever to get in touch with eon labs. They seem to be affiliated with Novartis and I can’t find info on how to contact them either. I’m really frustrated. Due to fill tomorrow and have been treated like an addict for asking what generic they carry and I don’t wanna play adderall roulette again. Running out of ideas

Re: Pistol (# 27) Expand Referenced Message

I actually agree. I've had just about every generic. And U31 aren't the most effective I've had... However, it's the only generic that works CONSISTENTLY in my case. All others seem to literally change effectiveness from prescription month to prescription month. However, certain people metabolize certain "fillers" differently.
