Best Generic Alprazolam (xanax) (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have been getting the 2mg Greenstones the last few years and they work much better than the Actavis. Now i read that greenstones were changed back in early 2014. Is it people that take these to feel high or people who really need them for anxiety and nothing else? Regardless if they have been changed they're still much better Actavis and I have heard mixed results on Sandoz. Dava seems to be crap. Took it once (looks to be from Endo who bought out Qualitest). Any opinions on the current state of the generic xanax manufactures? And lastly, no insurance company will give me the name brand. It's generic or nothing.

Re: SanDOZEAlproblems (# 152) Expand Referenced Message

Hey it’s me goozer sorry I’m late to your response. You are right about Sandoz. They are sleeper bars for sure not so much anti anxiety more heavy. Personally I have always stayed away from aurobindo products especially zofran and their benzos. I get 3mg xr and ir 2mg bars and I’ve been getting Greenstone for years now. Except Greenstone has been back ordered on their 3mg xrs for like a year now so my xrs have been the teva/actavis R 86 ones which are very different than Greenstone xr. The teva ones have a films that covers them and is taper proof while Greenstone 3mg doesn’t it just is the medication the film isn’t the best even if eating em I don’t like it so excited this month to final my have Greenstone xr back in stock... supposedly. I’ve been offered aurobindo xrs and have denied them every time. There was even a time when my pharmacy filled my 2mg bars with aurobindo bars and I walked out not knowing I got to my car to take one and realized I didn’t double check inside. I was furious cuz they told me ahead it would be Greenstone. I immediately took them back in and was lucky enough to get a swap out for the Greenstone bars. The shape of aurobindo bars and the way the powder is and edges you can just tell they are cheap and imo aurobindo is a cheap company and the medication has personally never worked for me not any of their meds so I have stayed away from them and refused their xr Xanax a few times but maybe they r good but I have refused them and even swapped a batch out for Greenstone but with Xanax staying on one generic can kinda get to you mentally you know like you want to change it up everyone in awhile. Like right now I’m trying to decide which bars I want for the next three months as on of my pharmacies has actavis and the other Greenstone. I think the one that has Greenstone can order the activas but they are pricey there were at the other one they can’t order Greenstone only actavis throughout the 3 months of fills so would be yellow bars for three months straight for me if I did that where if I did my original place there may be a chance one month they would be able to do activas and the rest Greenstone. I haven’t decided but if I were to fill any Xanax rx it has either got to be Greenstone or teva (actavis). Any other Xanax out there any more is just garbage. I was so excited when the breckenridge came out in 2017 I have an article on here about it but when I tried them I was terribly disappointed. Not only was I stuck with garbage bars made in india that did nothing for me that’s all the pharmacy had I had to get a new rx to get em else where as they made me sick even and did nothing for anxiety at all no sedation or relaxation if anything rebound anxiety was caused by breckenridge. My order of best generics follows and again I would stay away from aurobindo all meds they make are trash same with breckenridge they aren’t even made in the states.

1. Pfizer/Greenstone - brand and generic are the exact same here formerly (x a n a x 2) now u94 (pfizer) g3722 pill (Greenstone) - well balanced all around mild to strong hitting when taken and last the longest of any generic as far as efficiency and sedation. Never run out of these generics in a month well balanced and strong.

2. Teva (formerly actavis) -R039- a great generics. Teva may not be pfizer like Greenstone but they are the worlds largest and probably best quality maker of most medication out there. They say follow the money while this may not be pfizer generic company it’s a company that competes with pfizer and doesn’t cut corners and makes quality products in every part of the industry. I do believe they make great alprazolam as pfizer s competition. These pills are hard hitting and hit fast and are consistent and strong like Greenstone. They do seem do not last as long but alprazolam is meant to hit quick and fast for anxiety attacks anyways. Xr versions would be the ones made to last longer . Greenstone just last long because it comes from pfizer vats next to xr vats and somehow just is a well balanced lasting bar. R039 tablets hit like Xanax should hard and fast for a panic attack and end fairly soon like you would want a panic attack to. These work very well for what they are and need to do. I do wish they lasted a bit longer but they don’t need to they aren’t extended release Greenstone is just awesome in the way they last long because Xanax isn’t meant to last long like klonopin or valium, it is meant to be quick. Either way I like these just as much as Greenstone and honestly wish I could get half and half on my fills of half Greenstone and half teva (activas) bars but it doesn’t work that way so have to switch every month or three months. These r definitely greenstones competition and they are good and teva makes quality medication including all their benzos. If you taken clonazepam your either getting teva or qualitest (par) if you know what ones are good as accord is terrible. Teva makes quality and costly medication with expensive and quality active and inactive ingredients making these as food a choice as Greenstone it is just a preference of color for me sometimes but Greenstone is number one as it’s brand name at generic cost. If you look at greenstones ingredients compared to tevas alprazolam ingredients they are quite different from eachother while most generics are either more like actavis or Greenstone. So depends on these ingredients and you as person. This month I may get these teva generics instead of Greenstone just to change it up a bit as it’s been years in Greenstone lately and just get my 3mg xr as Greenstone as I’ve been getting teva 3mg xr soma switch is nice. Again teva one’s are hard hitting and stick to the original actavis formulation and haven’t changed it yet since they bought out activas which is great most company’s change a good generics formula once they get the rights teva has not they have kept actavis formula down to the inactive ingredients. Always a great choice but still my second Choice but never unhappy to see a bottle of these or greenstone bars.

3. Dava S 90 3 (par) bought dava but then discontinued making their alprazolam and started to dispense the qualitest generic for their company as Par(endo). So we lost the green bars and got the qualitest check marks pushed out more. I loved the dava green bars but honestly they aren’t even the og green bars. The og green bars were the A54 LL made by ESI Lederle Generics. Which are discontinued as well so no more green bars but the more May still be some par bottles left out there in some mom and pops shops. If these were still made I would get the davas this month. To me they are somewhere in between a Greenstone and a Sandoz. They hit hard and fast and last yet have a bit of that “sleeper” sedation to them but not nearly as bad as the Sandoz generics. I love sandoz though they’re a great company and I would love to try their xr alprazolam but have never been able to find any in my state. With xr it seems to only be teva (actavis), Greenstone, aurobindo (trash xr). Now I know everyone says Mylan alprazolam is the worst and it is the least and worst generic for instant release Xanax but for the xr or er alprazolam Mylan makes the best ! I call the 3mg xr by Mylan link moons and man they are some of the best alprazolam I’ve ever had but the hardest to ever find or come across I only have a few times. Miss you davas RIP

4. Sandoz- gg 249 bars are great bars but are a sleeper bar and can be heavy sedation for most users or sometimes for me non at all and just anxiety relief which is good but some times we want a kick with out medication and not a heavy one at times. You can never go wrong with Sandoz these days with so many s*** generics out there.

5. Aurobindo - y 21 bars. I don’t like cheap meds or medical manufacturers so I stay away from aurobindo at all cost for any drug.

6. Qualitest (par) - V 2090 pill- can never go wrong with the og qualitest formulations. Qualitest was a great company and I’m happy par has kept their formulation for their Xanax. These r good not great not scarce and also not everywhere either. For me these would be a rare fill but I would compare them to Sandoz bars but not as heavy. Not ones I’d pick but definitely would take over most every other but the ones above. Better than aurobindo

6. Breckenridge b707 bars blue- terrible generic not even made in the states. I would wait a month to not get these generics over getting them. They made me ill and did nothing for my anxiety. Made in India and worst quality Xanax generic out there imo

7. Farmapram- blank bars - since they are just so abundant and everywhere farma prams have to make this list. And honestly they are a great generic. Sometimes there is a lack of consistency with the efficiency and efficacy but when you go from a legit pharmacy that sells farmaprams they are good. Sometimes I feel like they are even stronger when u get a good deal than a regular bar sometimes I feel like the inconsistency makes it so some bars are like 3mg and others are like one. They r on this list as they are so abundant and everywhere now. But be careful they push out a lot of fake farmaprams just as much as they do real ones even in the seals u can get fake farmaprams.

Not sure if this helps but sorry for the late reply this is goozer. Right now I’d say Greenstone or teva bars only. Any other generic right now in time is going to be just way less effective and not as good as either of these two would be. I could go on with my list but most days now you don’t see other generics but these main ones above but there are better ones as well like the ESI Lederle Generics. Only get Greenstone, actavis (teva), or Sandoz if you can handle the heavy on em. Everything else is garbage.

Any feedback on anyone’s experience with xr or er alprazolam from Sandoz or aurobindo or any xr or er feedback at all would be appreciated! Thanks.

Re: Bird (# 140) Expand Referenced Message

Yeah I was a lil nervous about trying the aurobindo generic, but I was forced to due to circumstances, however so far very good results! I might even like them better than the sandoz I've been taking for about a year. The activis ones were good too, very fast acting n hard hitting, but wear off pretty quickly. We'll see how I feel about these aurobindos once Ive been taking em for a cpl weeks.. The one brand I would outright refuse is Mylan. Those r absolute garbage n I believe they maybe have about a quarter of the amt they should have in em, if that.. I am not a big fan of the davas either, though they are not the worst, and certainly better than mylan. But everyone is diff, I know ppl who love davas.

Re: Girlinflorida (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

I go through the exact same thing. I was on mylan for years, mylan manufacturer, they were great, well that ended, and then target before it came cvs would order them for me, well it turned to cvs, I was on aurobindo manufacturer with my dr stating only aurobindo manuf, well they gave me Sandoz, and I ended up in er with chest pain, it felt like they weren't even working but I had to take them because cvs would do nothing, but after being on it for a month it got into my system and was working, but now im getting aurobindo, took first one this morning, and gna have to suffer till my system gets use to these again. I hate not having my anxiety controlled after 20 yesrs

Re: frenchy (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

Sorry I did not include the brand but my doctor writes for Greenstone. The round Xanax do not work near as well not to mention I have proven that I am allergic to the fillers that they use in them and these are the cheaper brand that pharmacies order!

Have your doctor write the prescription the brand that works the best for you. My Dr had no problems doing that for me! I hope that will help..

I see everyone mention Greenstone a lot as being the best. Could you please let me know what pharmacies you are getting these at as I have not been able to find this brand. I get 2mg bars at CVS and lately it seems they are going between Sandoz and Aurobindo. I can tell the difference even in their consistency Sandoz seems to have a thicker coating.

Re: Darcy (# 28) Expand Referenced Message

I have been on 2mg for years now as I have been taking Xanax so long for my anxiety that my tolerance has become really high. Because of this I don't get as much relief as I should. I can take 4mg and be totally able to function properly. Unfortunately this has also increased my tolerance to everything. I had surgery and had to take a bigger dosage of pain meds just for a few hours relief. I have chronic insomnia and have tried every pill out there and bone work because of my tolerance issues. I don't take my on a regular basis. only when I feel anxiety or like I'm going to have a panic attack but one alone doesn't really much. I'm sure if they were not generic they would have a much better effect.

Re: Babyblu486 (# 131) Expand Referenced Message

Babyblu486 said: Unfortunately, we are getting sedated instead of being treated for anxiety".

EXACTLY. @Goozer, you astutely mentioned that certain Xanax generics acted more as "sleepers" than anxiolytics, and that the Sandoz generic is notorious for this. You are so right, and it is making me non-functional!

I take Alprazolam, NOT Klonopin or Ativan or Valium because I did not become sedated from it like the other three and could continue to perform well and without crippling anxiety in a fast-paced, demanding environment! I took Greenstone (which worked great) and occasionally Aurobindo once or twice in 2018 and 2019. They were weaker than the Greenstones and a bit sedating, but nothing terrible.

For the last several months I was unable to get anything BUT Sandoz, and my God, this stuff made me feel like I was in a coma.

Unlike the "can do", anxiety-erasing properties of Greenstone, Sandoz made me practically non-functional and feeling like I was trudging through molasses. You know how when you're half-asleep you're too out of it to care about anything? That isn't a lack of anxiety, it's just a lack of higher cognitive functioning, and that is exactly how I felt on Sandoz. It wasn't a light, pleasant, drifting-off-to-sleep sensation either; it was a dull, heavy, drugged feeling and it was NOT how I feel normally on Alprazolam/Xanax.

My prescribed dose is 1mg, but the next time I took it, I only took .5 mg hoping that it would cut the sluggishness effects. Well, I still felt dull, heavy, apathetic and fatigued, albeit less so, and like with the 1mg dose, my anxiety was not helped at all.

Alprazolam/Xanax was a miraculous med for me when I started taking it years ago. My psychiatrist said recently (prior to the Sandoz debacle) that I was the exact sort of patient to use as an example for why benzodiazepines should not be banned/phased out or seen as universally "addictive"/requiring escalating doses/making patients less functional in life.

I have never needed a dose increase, the medication helped me from avoiding everything out of overwhelm and enabled me to take chances and succeed in life where before I'd been crippled by anxiety. It actually gave me energy because all of the anxiety resulted in feelings of fatigue and immobility. Now this Sandoz concoction is jeopardizing this!

I'm hoping for replies from Goozer and everyone else here who is knowledgeable about benzodiazepines and/or similarly affected by changes in Xanax/Alprazolam manufactures/formulas.

Anyone have any theories on what seems to be going on here with the widely differing generics and suspected formula changes that aren't documented?

I know the party line given to those of us not shamed into silence by "it's just in your head" gaslighting tactics or the"trust the experts" fallacy: "Sudden changes in a new generic drug's effect beyond personal lifestyle factors are caused either by a 20 percent difference in the active ingredient or due to the new generic having different inactive ingredients altering bioavailability."

Sure, maybe this explains my Aurobindo experience--lessened effect due to lower content of Alprazolam and/or fillers that didn't work optimally by my individual biochemistry in terms of metabolizing the medication. But to my knowledge (and please explain if you have additional information). But it does not explain the drastic difference between Greenstone Alprazolam and Sandoz Alprazolam (which felt like an entire different class of drug).

I had years of Greenstone Alprazolam turning off my cerebrally mediated, GABA-related anxiety (which is why Propanolol and SSRIs did not work for me), while promoting a rational, motivated state of mind, no decrease in energy and no experienced somatic effects at all. Sandoz Alprazolam did not lessen my cerebrally mediated anxiety in the least. It turned me into a foggy-brained, sluggish, amotivated zombie blob, incapable of anything at all beyond sitting on the couch, feeling unable to move.

Anyone know of a good generic recently with regards to good relief of mental anxiety without Sandoz's odd physical sensation, as non-Sandoz Alprazolam gave me some energy and focus to accomplish tasks?

How would it stack up next to all other generics, if you've taken it/them lately? Who carries it?

Anyone taken brand the last few months? How does it compare?

Why don't you try to get Glutethimide prescribed for you, it's much better than Alprazolam, especially with Acetaminophen with Codeine #4

I have tried them all. At first Greenstone had the best ethocacy. For some reason their efficacy depreciated. Now I find Sandoz to have more stable efficacy. This represents my opinion only.
