My doctor has started me on Brintellix 10mg as I have tried a number of well known antidepressants over the years & found none give me complete remission. I suffer with MDD & Anxiety, which I believe stems from PTSD. I found that when we found one that worked, by 6 months I had built a resistance to it & it was no longer effective. They also made me gain weight which only added to feelings of self loath. I am on day 5 with Brintellix. I had ceased all antidepressants at least 4 weeks before commencing this treatment. Day 1: I was extremely sick with anxiety prior to my taking the Brintellix. I did feel nausea about 40-50mins after but I felt it take the edge of the anxiety. Day 2: nausea persisting but bearable. Yucky taste in my mouth, did start salivating soon after taking...

Hello, I started Brintellix 4 weeks ago. I started with 5mg and tapered off Effexor over the next 2 weeks (bad reaction to Effexor). The switch from Effexor to Brintellix wasn't as bad as I thought, neither was the increase to 10 mg. I was on the 10mg for 2 weeks with a marked improvement in my overall condition (anxiety and depression). Anxiety was non existent and, although still difficult, I began to be able to function better. I updated my doctor and he recommended increasing the dose to 15mg. This was yesterday and it was hell. For an hour or so I felt more upbeat, lighter on my feet. It felt like this was it, this is what's going to work at long last. But then I experienced a sudden, what I would describe as, a crash. I became very anxious and very depressed. The fact that...

I've been on 5mgs for 2 weeks now. Having nearly unbearable side effects so no increase yet. Was supposed to up to mgs after 1 week. No obvious mood changes except constant nausea & headache. Anyone have similar initial experience & then began to see benefits? Willing to hang in there if it will be worth it. Thanks! ## Hi Jackster, Sorry to hear about the symptoms you're having to deal with. According to the manufacturer, nausea is actually reported to be one of the most common side effects of Brintellix (vortioxetine). However, other patient reviews I've come across online, do suggest that the nausea either goes away with time or by cutting down the dosage (of course after talking with your Dr.). As to exactly how long the nausea lasts? - That could be anyone's ...

I have just tapered off Wellbutrin and Cipralex and ramped up from 5mg to 10mg Trintillex. Luckily I wasn't hit with any nausea, which I had been dreading, and have more energy (which for me feels a bit manic compared to the sloth I'm used to). Skin, eye, nose dryness is almost unbearable though. My eyes sting, and even with moisturizer, my face is cracking. Will this ease up as I adjust to the med? Will any oil supplements help? I was terrified to change meds after a previous nightmarish experience. I don't want dehydration to be the make it break for this med. ## Those aren't normal side effects, according to the NIH, but may be due to the combination of stopping the others and then starting this new medication. You may also experience headache, somnolence, and weight ...

I have been using 10mg Brintellix daily for the last week. Last night I also took an Allergex tablet to help with hayfever. I think this had an interaction with the Brintellix - I had difficulty waking up this morning and am feeling very lethargic. I have taken Allergex in the past with only mild sleepiness which wore off by morning. Is this drug interaction safe or will it affect the Brintellix working as it should? Is there another antihistamine that I can take safely with Brintellix?

I started 5-10mg brintellix 2.5 months ago switched from lexapro. After 6 weeks dr switched to 20 mg. i have been on 20mg for 5weeks. I wake up drenched in sweat. Flu like symptoms for week now. Between the night sweats, day sweats, flushing, flu like symptoms I cant take this. I called the dr. Ask him to wean me off. I am scared. Trintelllix is causing mood swings as well. All this time, I thought I was sick, but its the trintellix. Has anyone else experienced night sweats, horrible profuse sweating during the day, chills, flushing from trintellix? ## Those can be side effects of this medication, as listed by the FDA, along with blurred vision, unusual dreams, and loss of libido. However, such side effects are usually transient and tend to go away once your body gets used to the medica...

I have been on this medicine for 5 weeks. 2 weeks at 5mg and 3 weeks at 10mg. As soon as I started taking it I noticed it affected my sleep. It pretty much put me into a manic state and was up for over 30 hours before I even felt like I wanted to go to sleep. I switched to taking it earlier in the day and that helped with the sleep but has made the nausea almost unbearable. I take it with food, drink plenty of water, pretty much have tried everything I can think of. I'm also not noticing an improvement in my symptoms. I struggle even more to get out of bed. I snooze my alarm for almost 2 hours every morning because I just can't get out of bed and feel exhausted. Not sure if this is the medicine for me. ## How are you doing now? Has there been any change? It usually takes about 4...

I just recently went on 10mg and I have gone through all the same symptoms I'm seeing on here. Very tired, vomitting, weight gain, headaches etc. I have also noticed that my memory is horrible, my thought process is slower, I'm typing slower at work, mispronouncing words I never have issues with, loosing track of my thoughts, and not remembering anything about troubleshooting at my job. Answers that come second nature to me are no where to be found. I'm really afraid. What's going on? ## Hello, Carrie! How are you? Has there been any change? Those aren't listed as typical side effects, according to FDA reports. They usually include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, mood swings and weight changes. I think it would be best to consult your doctor, you may need to ...

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Go to a WholeFoods like store and buy a good brand if Magnesium glycinate and take twice the recommended dose until the...

Have to say its only been a week. Now she skal duble the dose. What l want to know is; is it known to help headache also? ## No, it doesn't help headaches. Topamax works great for chronic headaches. Trintellix works great for me and my depression. Hope it can help you daughter. ## I suffered from massive headaches and Remeron helped me alot. I took it for 8 months and then slowly tapered off and stopped. There are dome studies that say it really help some types of headaches ... non migranous like the ones I had ## Topamax was horrible for me. Used it for headaches. It gave me severe anorexia and put me i...

I've been on 20 mg for 7 months, working awesome but now I feel it's time to get off it. My choice would be to stop it cold turkey. Had anyone else done this yet, and how hard/easy was it? ## That's usually not a good idea after taking it for months, because according to the U.S. FDA, it could cause you to experience withdrawal effects, which may include nausea, diarrhea, headache, rebound depression, pain, and anxiety. A slow taper would be the best choice. Why do you want to stop it, if it is working so well for you? ## Hi, I just didn't want to be on pills anymore. Update, I did stop taking it CT, I did have the side effects they said, albeit reasonably mild and only a few days. My Dr wanted me back on it but it was up to me. I just started back on it at 10 mg but I...

I have been using brintellix for 6mths and have been feeling great. After returning from a 2 mth holiday, I all of a sudden don't feel good. I'm using 20mg. What can the reason be? ## Hello, Anna! How are you? What changed over the holiday? Did you miss days of taking it? Did your diet change significantly? Did you spend a lot of time in the sun? Did you drink alcoholic beverages? Is there a chance that you're just ill? Maybe the flu, or a virus? Are you on any other medications? The NIH lists these as all being possible causes, that could make you feel ill, or affect the medication and its side effects.

My mother-in-law has dementia and has been prescribed Brintellix as one of her meds. Can this help with the dementia / alzheimers? Thank you, Pam ## Hi Pam, Sorry to hear about your mother in law. Trintellix (formerly called Brintellix, active ingredient Vortioxetine)[1] is indicated for major depressive disorder, although there have been studies conducted which indicate that it may also treat cognitive dysfunction in those patients too [2]. May I ask what other meds she has been prescribed? I wonder if this is part of her treatment because of its effects as an antidepressant / cognitive treatment? Ref: [1] [2]

My fiance was recently taking Pristiq for about a year. He recently was changed over to Brintellix. He sees that it works extremely well during the day, and really helps. As the night gets later we have noticed it wearing off so to speak, mind begins to race, anger becomes an issue, not able to sleep, etc..... What would be the best thing for us to do about making it last longer through the day??? ## Hello, Amber! How is your fiancé doing? What dosage is he taking? It could be that he needs a dosage adjustment, or it may not be the right medication to help him. Has he informed his doctor? There really isn't anything that either of you can do that make it last longer. The FDA lists its typical side effects as including nausea, dizziness, vomiting and vision changes. ## I take br...

My wife has been on Brintellix/Trintellix for nearly a year now with great results. No other anti-depressant has been as effective in treating her symptoms. However, she has also suffered from migraines over the years, and she is not allowed to take the triptans that she used to take (Maxalt, etc.). Normally the Excedrin Migraine (acetaminophen, aspirin, caffeine) has been enough, but this most recent one was bad enough to require a trip to urgent care and a shot of a narcotic painkiller. Any suggestions on what migraine meds she can talk to her doctor about? ## Topamax, works awesome for me, it's cool once you get past the brain fog, and the weight loss. ## Hello, Patrick! How is your wife doing? Fioricet might also be another option to try, if her doctor approves. I didn't fin...

I was given some samples by my doctor of Brintellix, and all I can say is that it worked beautifully. I have tried virtually every other antidepressant on the market, and they all made me violently ill. This was the first medication that I tolerated very well, and my mood improved dramatically from the very first pill- I was elated! Then, when I received the prescription, it came under the name Trintellix. On the net, it says that Trintellix is the rebranded name for Brintellix and the same brand-name medication. To my surprise, Trintellix didn't work nearly as well (if not at all). Has anyone had this experience? I am so upset, I don't know what to do. I personally believe that the manufacturer changed the formula, but I have no evidence, other than my experience, to prove this...

Taking brintellix for.three says, can't sleep. Have Clonazepam 1 mg at home, can I tske one at night? ## Hello, Carina! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between them, but it is always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA, however, does warn that you may experience more dizziness, drowsiness, and sedation than usual. Is there anything else I can help with?

Been on this med for 3 weeks now, has been working great no panic attacks. But, today I decided to drink 5 beers with no food and only the drug in me...bad mistake. I have a horrible head ache and pain behind my left eye. Hopefully, will wake up feeling better tomorrow. ## Hello, Keith! How are you feeling? Yes, thanks for posting sage advice for others. It is never a good idea to drink alcoholic beverages, while taking a prescription medication. It is well known that it can worsen the side effects, so one drink may affect you like you'd had 2 and so on. Additionally, you double whammied yourself by drinking on an empty stomach, which is never a good idea. It allows the alcohol to hit you much harder and faster than usual, plus it's very rough on your stomach and liver. The FDA ...

Hey, I have been on brintellix I would say for about 2 months. I am on the 10mg daily. I myself have experienced horrible migraines and nausea, though I have also experienced weight gain. I was taken off lexapro due to mild weight gain on it and was switched to this medication bc I was told there would be no weight gain. I am contemplating taking myself off of this medication due to this issue as well as the horrible migraines ## Hello, Cyrena! How are you? Weight gain is not a listed side effect, as reported by the FDA, however, there is no way to know how any given medication will possibly affect any person that takes it, because we are all different. Its typical side effects do include the headaches and nausea that you experienced, as well as diarrhea and flushing. Are you on any oth...

I stopped taking Brintellix because I couldn't take the vomiting anymore and other issues that my doctor said were side effects of this medicine over the past 3 months and I just suddenly stopped taking it and now I'm experiencing extremely bad anxiety that I can't manage and can't sleep more than a few hours a night. What is going on with me? Will I get over this on my own? ## Hello, Missy! How are you? Yes, withdrawal type effects can be normal, after taking it for a few months and then stopping abruptly. It would have been best to taper off of it. However, they will eventually stop, but it may take a few weeks. Are you feeling any better, yet? ## I have been taking brintellex for 7 weeks 10 mg a day my doctor gave. Me samples and did not tell me the cost. I can't ...
