Does anyone know of cough syrup with codeine and guaifenesin (like Cheratussin ac) that is either dye-free or does not have red dye #40? My father has an allergy to red dye #40... white ## This is generic for acetaminophen 325mg/codeine sulfate 30mg., generic for tylenol #3 with codeine. It is used for mild to moderate pain. Side effects included marked drowsiness, euphoria, dizziness, constipation. ## I was wrong about one ingredient. This particular one does not have acetaminophen (or tylenol) in it. Sorry about that. It only has codeine 30mg in it. ## This tablet is manufactured by Roxane Laboratories and they do list it as containing 30mgs of Codeine, which is a mild narcotic analgesic. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. I want to take codeine but am allergic to morphine and I've heard that they are similar drugs. I have a herniated disk in my lower back that is small & central so surgery is not recommend as it tends to worsen pain. I have been in a pain mgmt group for almost 2 yrs. Over a year ago they started me on morfine sulfate with my dosage at 60mg of an ER for the past year. They also had me on morfine sulfate for breakthrough pain. In July they switched my breakthrough from a morfine sulfate 30 mg to a 10 mg opana IR. Starting in July & repeating in Aug. they did a random UA on me & both showed-up with a positive for Codeine. I have severe multiple myeloma pain on my hips, more so on my left side. A steel pin has been inserted from my hip to my knee and screwed to the bone and spine-cemented. NO CONTROL OF THE PAIN. ONLY MINOR IMPROVEMENT. I have been taking MS Contin 30mg and Codeine phosphate 2 tabs twice a day. ## Has your doctor considered trying you on Oxycodone, or Fentanyl? I am not a doctor, but they are a couple of stronger options you can ask your doctor about trying. I am taking perscription cough syrup with codiene and took some hydrocodone recreationally and wondered on a 5 panel saliva test, will they both just show up as an opiate? or is there a differance in the two? ## It really depends on how sophisticated the drug test is. Some drug tests (whether it be saliva, urine, or hair) can detect the exact substance in question, while others may not even be able to differentiate between the basic structures of Hydrocodone and Codeine. In any event, if you have a false positive or are accused of a misreading. I would suggest getting re-tested with a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer. It doesn't actually turn it into Morphine, your body breaks it down into the same metabolites, which is very different and does not create the risk of an overdose. I have these capsules that are all white and have the letters,"JSC" on them. They're from Mexico and they're supposed to be 50 milligram Codeine phosphate capsules. I am highly allergic to codeine and morphine. My pm dr did a urine drug test on me and sent to a lab and it came back positive for both however, I have not taken codeine or any form of it or morphine. I'm on opana which is oxymorphone but they said it doesn't show as morphine. I'm really upset about this as I go into anaphalaxis if I take any lortab or morphine but I'm ok on opana as its a derivitive of morphine but not the same family. The C imprint is almost a full circle and is indented in letter. It is slightly off white. It is smooth and blank on opposite side. it is also fairly thin. Please help, need to know level of danger here since I have brought my kids to this park before. Thank you!! I take codeine 5mg for pain due to a pinched nerve. If I take 7/day I am pretty much pain controlled and can go about my day. My Dr. wants me go decrease that to 4/day, but even at 6/day my pain level is about 3. I have randoms at my job. I know on a 5 panel drug test codeine and oxycodone will show up as an opiate. I have a prescription for both of these. My question is if they send my urine to a lab, will they be able to determine which kind of specific opiate I am taking? For example, will it say codeine, oxycodone, or show specific like dilaudid? ## I wish someone had an answer for you. Hello, I live in Australia and wondered if anyone could suggest an alternative to Targin 10/5 mg twice a day, morn & night. I have been taking this for nearly two years. I have a really severe reaction to it, the worst being the itching at night which often prevents me from sleeping at all. I believe it is the codeine in the drug that cause this as the same reaction occurred in the past when taking oxycodeine. I have tried Norspan patches but they are very hard to keep on in our climate as it is so hot in Perth, also they wear off after the second day and don't work anymore on me unfortunately.
