Hi I had dental work done and the lat time I took my meds was two days ago which was Oxycondone can I start taking my convave again ## Hello, Danielle! How are you? Did you start taking it, again? Generally, there should be at least 72 hours of separation between one and the other, if you're not a chronic opiate user, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Contrave as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with?

I lost 13 lbs. but did have bouts of mild nausea occasionally the first month with Contrave. But, I had a whopper last weekend. I have a really strong stomach and cannot remember the last time I had a stomach bug. I experienced lightheadedness, weakness in my legs and neck, as well as neck pain. It felt like I couldn't hold my head up. Also, there was a strange numbness/tingling in my left hand. It seemed to improve about 45 minutes after I began sipping water and laid down with my legs raised above the level of my head. I'm up to 15 lbs. lost and really don't want to go off of it for mild nausea/side effects. But, I don't think I can do another episode like that. Suggestions? ## Throughout the 2 months I have now been on Contrave, I have had 3 alarming episodes. The wei...

I have been on this medication since March and have lost about 20 pounds. However, in the last month I have not only lost nothing but am gaining slightly and I no longer feel the effects of not wanting to eat. Is it possible to modify the dose to again feel the loss of wanting to eat? Has anyone else experienced this? ## Actually, it is very common for people taking such medications to hit a plateau phase for a month or so. Most patients have reported it, but once past that, the weight loss usually starts back up. After a certain period of time, which can vary from person to person, your body adjusts to the medication and basically starts to try to fight it to maintain itself. Most people have found that they've eventually lost weight, again, by just staying the course, but it's...

I've taken hydrocodone for years due to chronic pain, I'm needing to lose weight but have to keep taking my pain meds. Will the contrave block the pain out like the hydrocodone does or just block the hydrocodone from working ## Hello, Rayne! How are you? No, Contrave will not do anything to alleviate pain. The FDA lists it as containing Naloxone and Bupropion, so yes, it will also block most opiates from having any effect. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, headache and dry mouth. What has your doctor advised?

Looking for a doctor that prescribes Contrave near the Fort Worth area. It's a diet pill that treats obesity. I do not have a family doctor or insurance and would like someone familiar with this drug. Any info helpful ## I got it from the NP Care Clinic on West Oak Street in Denton. It's just about a quarter mile off I-35, 20 minutes away from my house in far north Fort Worth. For the record, I was on it for about 5 weeks before I quit taking it because of the side effects. I'm very tolerant to most medications, I rarely experience any side effects. But Contrave gave me episodes of nervousness, breaking out in a cold sweat and feeling like my heart was racing and pounding out of my chest, even though my blood pressure and pulse were normal. These side effects stopped immedia...

I have now been on Contrave for 4 weeks and seeing great results. My appetite is really reduced and combining exercise and maintaining a calorie intake of around 1400-1600 I look to have lost 10 pounds my first month. It's been working but I have doubled the weight loss I would have had without it as my appetite is so much less. ## Awesome! I'm so glad that it's working well for you. Have you experienced any of the side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, nervousness and insomnia that the FDA lists? Some people have had very good results with this medication and some haven't, so I'm curious.

I am on my 4/day dose and have really only lost a few lbs. This cost me $200. I lost 3 lbs as of today 6/22 from 6/21. I really could have lost that much on my own. I want to go off of it because it appears that it isn't doing anything. I have no bad side effects but I don't want to pay that much for weight I could lose myself. Any feedback? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? How long have you been taking the 4 a day? Most people really don't see results, until they're on this dose for several weeks. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Contrave as possibly include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness and headache. ## This is probably a week now on 4 a day. Strangely enough, the only side effect I've noticed is a tremor. But I tend to have one anyway. It just make...

The pamphlet at the dr said the cost would be about $70 per month. I had to pay $134 the first month, and it will be about $240 on maintainence? What is everyone else paying? ## Hello, Pam! How are you? That pamphlet was referring to their saving's card, it's available on the Contrave website. You have to print it out and take it to the pharmacy with you. It lowers the cost of the first two fills to $70 and then $60 after that. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Contrave as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on meds for two months and half no results, and I excerise, no results still….Am I doing something wrong . Do this med really affect your LIVER? ## Hello, Lynn! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Do you also watch your diet? It could be that this medication just doesn't work for you. Not all medications work for everyone that tries them. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to try a different medication, such as Belviq. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, anorexia, anxiety and bladder pain.

This medication has turned me into a monster! I hate everyone and everything! I wanted to lose some weight and have tried other methods, Paleo diet, weight watchers, etc. Nothing worked. Since taking this medication, I have lost some weight but now have extreme irritability and anger at everyone and everything. My husband said he would rather have me fat and jolly than mean as a snake. ## Hello, Bucket! How are you? The Bupropion in this medication can sometimes cause that in some people that take it. It is actually classified by the FDA as an anxiolytic and some do cause the opposite of their intended effect in some people. When I tried it once years ago, it made extremely nervous and jittery like I'd drunk several pots of coffee, so I had to stop taking it. Other side effects may ...

I was part of the study and did extremely well, losing over 70 pounds. The last visit 2 weeks ago I was told the study was over and am no longer on the medication. Since stopping cold turkey I have had an almost constant headache, have trouble sleeping, have been irritable and have gained back 5 lbs. Now have a call in to my MD requesting a prescription so I can get back on the meds. I didn't have any of the issues that others have complained about while on the med, only after stopping! ## Hello, GrannyD! How are you? I'm very sorry about the withdrawal symptoms that you're having. They are most likely due to stopping the Bupropion cold turkey. The FDA does classify it as an antidepressant that is also used to aid in smoking cessation and these medication are well known to c...

I'm now on wellbutrin, but was recently prescribed contrave. Any info on stopping wellbutrin and starting contrave? The dosage I now take for the wellbutrin will be the same with the start of contrave. ## Hello, Angel! How are you? If the dosage is the same, you should be able to just do a clean switch from on to the other. One of the ingredients in Contrave is Bupropion, which is also the active ingredient in Wellbutrin. Did your doctor provide any specific instructions? The FDA classifies Contrave as a weight loss medication. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and insomnia.

My liver values have gone up to 99. I'm so sick that I sleep every chance I get and nearly twenty hours a day on the weekends. I know my liver is being affected because my right side is uncomfortable and feels like there is something extra in there. I want to go off as quickly as is safe to do. ## @Keith, From what I've researched, withdrawal symptoms have been known to occur in cases where patients suddenly stop taking Contrave. I don't know the extent or severity of these potential withdrawal symptoms, but since a risk factor reportedly exists, it would probably be a good idea to reach out to your doctor and see if he/she can help develop some sort of tapering plan to get you off of it safely. One important thing to take into consideration is that the time frame in which i...

What time in the evening are you supposed to take the medication? ## Hello, LT! How are you? From what I've been able to find, it should be taken with your evening meal, but it would be best to double check with your doctor to be sure. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Contrave as possibly including nausea, headache, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am on my 4th week of Contrave and just upped my dosage to 2 pills in the morning and 2 at night, but tonight I have had really bad cramping. Should I cut back or drink more water? What helps treat this side effect exactly? Thank you. ## Hello, Debra! How are you? I'm sorry about the cramping. That can be a side effect of Contrave, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, alopecia, irregular menstruation, headache and dizziness. However, these effects are usually transient and will go away, as your body adjusts to the new dosage of the medication. However, if the cramping is that severe, you should consult your doctor, they may able to advise you on what to do for it. Has anyone else experienced this?

how long does it take to feel effects..been on the 1 pill only for 5 days and do not feel too much of a diminished appetite..will it be better when I start taking the nighttime dose..thanks ## Hello, Patj! How are you? Most people have reported results at about the third week, so after starting two tablets a day. The FDA classifies this as a weight loss medication and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, constipation, insomnia and dry mouth. Can anyone that takes it chime in? ## thanks for that info..i look forward to week 3 !

I'm wondering if it's necessary to take 4 pills per day. I'm in the 2nd week of Contrave and take 2 pills per day. Seems to me that is enough as my appetite is diminished and I've had no adverse side effects. What are the additional benefits of increasing to 3 or 4? Can I stay on 2 per day and have it work? ## Hello, Connie! How are you? For the best results, it is best to follow your doctor's instructions by taking the daily dosage that has been found effective. However, you can speak to your doctor about it to see what would be best for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, nervousness, insomnia and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with?

Wondering if anyone is taking Contrive and Effexor? My plan is to start Contrive and slowly get off of Effexor. Wondering if anyone has done this and what kind of experience you have had? ## I haven't actually taken either of these meds, but seeing as no one else responded yet, I thought I'd take a stab at it in hopes of stimulating some additional feedback. First off, from a search engine perspective, a drug by the name of "Contrive" doesn't appear to exist. You may have been thinking of "Contrave" with an A, which reportedly contains naltrexone + bupropion. Second, if you're switching between antidepressants like bupropion and Effexor (venlafaxine), and know that there may be a time period when you're on both at once, I think it would be wise to spe...
