Doctors Willing To Prescribe Xanax In New Jersey
UpdatedI suffer from severe panic attacks on a daily basis. im a perfect example of a person that needs medicine and is unable to get it because of so many people abusing prescription drugs. I have such severe anxiety and panic attacks and cant find a doctor to prescribe me xanax because im only 25 and its so addicting. but what they dont understand that i should be on xanax for the rest of my life because my anxiety is so bad. So if any1 knows a doctor in the monmouth county area of new jersey that will prescribe me xanax please let me know...thank u
Actually, part of your problem is that you are so convinced that you need that specific medication and are already insisting you will need it for life.
This will automatically make doctors wary of prescribing it, because, even though you may not intend it, it screams drug addict/drug seeker.
Not only are there other Benzodiazepines on the market, but there are also other anti-anxiety medications available, such as Buspirone. Some antidepressants can also be effective at helping.
You really need to work with a doctor to try whatever medication(s) they suggest to find the one(s) that work best for you, rather than demanding a specific medication.
It seems to be a stalemate -- if you ask for Xanax, you can't get it.
I started taking it over 10 years ago. I have moved several times since then and it has been difficult at best to find a doctor to prescribe it. I have a long history with many medications and none of them have been as effective at treating any symptoms as Xanax has been for treating my persistent anxiety. Basically, there is a reason it was used in the first place: it works.
I also feel frustrated by the fact that because other people abuse it, I have to look and look for someone to prescribe it for me. If this fits the profile of a so-called 'drug seeker', then I am in a bind. What else can I do other than ask for it?
Have you had any luck finding a doctor?
@ Verwon:
Do you seriously think I've never heard of Buspirone? It's just one in the long list of drugs that did not help me. I have been taking antidepressants among other psych meds since I was 14 years old and I am now 40. I have subjected myself repeatedly to all varieties of tricyclics, SSRI's, norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, and combinations thereof; I've even tried MAOI's. I have also tried other benzos -- Klonopin and Valium -- and they don't help me. I have been in treatment by therapists for the better part of my life; individual, family, and group. I have suffered from paralyzing anxiety attacks since I was a young child. I never said I would need it for the rest of my life; I do have periods when I don't use it because I don't always feel it's necessary. In fact I hate being on drugs, I don't even like to drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, the most popular 'crutch' drugs (which are much more dangerous than Xanax, but don't require a prescription). If you're wondering, it was a doctore who suggested Xanax to me -- how do you think I started using it in the first place? I benefit from using it for generalized and situation-specific anxiety. What I don't benefit from is sanctimonious lecturing about what I do, under the monitoring of a trained psychiatrist who specializes in anxiety, to function more easily and make life more bearable.
Is there a Doctor in South Jersey area who will likely prescribe Xanax?
Were in south jersey
I've tried every anxiety medication under the sun . I don't think you could name one I haven't tried because I honestly didn't want to be on a benzo but after years of being plagued by my panic attacks and anxiety which has messed up jobs and my college education . I be done the self help groups, therapy, and an obscene amount of non benzo meds . Finally I realize that Valium / alprazolam are the only two things that relieve my anxiety . I've been through soo many psychiatrist s I'm at the point of Giving up . I live in cape may county . Please if anyone knows a doctor that is not brain dead and willing to prescribe Valium alprozalom or atavan please let me know . This isn't someone trying to get high and abuse it . I'm really suffering and if I hear another doctor try to give me busbar clonidine celexa gabapetin etc idk what to do . I exercise I try to meditate and all that self help bulls*** doesn't always work and I'm tired of being treate with these bulls*** meds when I'm suffering
Did you ever find a doctor in Monmouth County? I am literally in the SAME EXACT situation you are in. I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks since I lost my 2 1/2 yr old son 10 years ago and my doctor would not give any higher of a dose until i saw a psychiatrist. I saw the psychiatrist and she seems to (after one 45min session) diagnosed me as bipolar which I do not think is the proper diagnosis. I feel like she wants to push off the anxiety for bipolar and give me anti-seizure/psych meds rather than just prescribing the xanax that I KNOW WORKS for me! It makes no sense to me that she'd give me these other drugs that make me walk around like a zombie. I'm so frustrated as to what to do from here. I live in Monmouth County as well so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I am wondering if you happened to see the same doc i did. I see you wrote "she" when referring to the doctor. I have no idea why it is such a problem to get xanax prescribed if it works for you. I have tried it all and nothing works well except xanax. If you aren't abusing them and aren't running out early then I just don't see the problem. Did you ever find a doc in Monmouth Co? I'm in the same area and still looking for another doctor
my doc gives them to me and im 25 and i get 120 2mg a month and i live in AC New Jersey
Hi...I am wondering if you could tell me if ur doc takes ins.? If so...could you tell me the name of the doctor? I'm literally at the point I'm willing to travel to find a decent doctor who is more understanding of my situation and doesn't make me so uncomfortable. AC is well over an hour but...
Thanks!
whats the name ? i need help and fast, i suffer from extreme panic attacks and anxiety..i am suffering please help me
a psychiatrist that you will plan to see regularly and they can have your history etc., is more likely to prescribe xanax than another type of doctor. If needed and not abusing as you say you are not then i don't think a good psychiatrist will have a problem prescribing it to you responsibly with monthly follow up. thanks.
I believe if you see psychiatrist and explain your situation he or she will give you xanax. But having been through the xanax mill, I would certainly bring up the subject of moving to valium at some point. It's been my experience that Dr. are much more willing to write a script for valium than xanax. Xanax is a hot issue right now and new restrictions have been placed on doctor regarding writing scripts for it. Lastly, finding a good psychiatrist is like shopping for a used car, it sometimes takes time to find a good one. I live in Monmouth county and at one point, I was driving to Doylestown PA, just to see a psychiatrist that I felt knew what he was talking about. Over the years, I've found a good number of LOUSY psychiatrists. Good Luck
How much does the doctor cost? I have no insurance.
What doctor. I live in cape may coutnty. I already have a script, but my insurance ran out so I need to pay cash and find a new dr. Any info would be a great help. Thank You!
i live in AC whats up
do u no the name of the dr i have the same problem where people hurt the people that raelly need
whos the doctor in doylestown, pa i live there and am having the same problem
Dr. Finelli Doylestown PA or at least that's where he used to be. You could probably do just as well on Valium. Xanax is a specific type of beno, that differs from the others. I hope this helps and hope you will find a non-drug answer to your problem - long-term use of benzo, I'm talking more than a decade of chronic use can have serious cognitive effects, but, this guy wouldn't let that happen.

In an emergency please visit your local E.R! I thought they were going to laugh & send me away when I showed up in 2010. The Doctor couldn't believe I was able to still speak with him, as I was in "Walking Critical" condition. I stayed a week, they restored me to normal, and I will never be able to forget those few weeks, wild hallucinations! You can see why I feel Xanax is dangerous, not necessarily while taking it, but when discontinuing it

Re: Havoc33 (# 5)
Any luck my family doctor changed and extremely lowered my dose I’ve been on and off sense I was 16 all different medications for my anxiety panic attacks and now I have seizures and I’ve even chipped my front tooth I’ve had in the. 30s of seizures just past couple months I need a psychiatrist to prescribe me it without calling me a drug addict or drug seeker because I was okay until my new primary changed it on me

Re: Rich (# 333)
I got the 2 mg bars for a few years. I broke them in half and wound up having an extra 3 years worth of Xanax, still do. Xanax is basically a poison, and taking a larger dose is not suggested. My former Doc had just doubled me to 100 a month, and since then lost his license
Re: Robin (# 327)
I’m on 1 mg Xanax One in the morning one at night but if I get a panic attack I don’t have any extras my doctor before hand was giving me 90 2mg bars
Re: Maraandme (# 7)
I'm so sad that you have to suffer this agony and I can totally empathize.
I was exposed to heavy duty neurotoxins via black mold and began having extreme heart palpitations and adrenal insufficiency which would end up with a 911 call and ambulance ride to an ER. All kinds of tests, but no apparent answers, until I found an alternative health practitioner called a Functional medicine provider who also happened to be an ER doctor. One of the few in Michigan that treated patients like me with so much nervous system damage due to the poisons my body had absorbed in the 3 years of living in a horrible environment that the landlord refused to address.
After finally relocating, into a healthy home, I began researching and finding professionals who could offer me tools for healing from all the damage, including major anxiety attacks. Sometimes those attacks hit me non-stop to the point I prayed to die. I unfortunately was treated with IVs of dilaudid, morphine, and steroids in the hospital, which only caused complications.
I had taken high doses of gabapentin along with Tramadol and like you, all kinds of anti-depressants drugs (even though I kept insisting this was a mechanical problem, not a mental or emotional one). The only relief I got was from Ativan, which was a godsend, and eventually a commitment to weekly acupuncture treatments which quickly restored and rejuvenated my whole being. My vision was also badly distorted from the Gabapentin, but once I was cleansed of all those miserable medications, light sensitivity reduced and clarity revived.
I went back to my alternative doc for IV treatments of EDTA to remove all heavy metal deposits in my body and the relief I got from that was miraculous. He offered a suggestion that I transfer over to 2 mgs daily of Valium when needed instead of the ativan because it has a longer half life and better drug for my type of anxiety issue. I have successfully used it for 4 years now and have reduced the dosage to 1/2 tab at night to help me sleep. Daytime attacks are rate and very manageable, partly because I learned how to breathe through them, distract myself and also Meditate every single day. Even 5 minutes of sitting quietly and just focusing on your breath results in a calmer and more balanced nervous system.
I am 69 years old and doctors do not want older patients using any of the benzos, period. I am fortunate enough to have a supportive doctor, but I also know I can't stay on them forever, so I'm weaning off at a very very gentle and slow pace. I totally understand the battle you are going through, but you do have choices other than pills to address this disorder. The issue with doctors is they over prescribe ineffective medications that often have the same side effects as the issues they are being prescribed for.
I was a pharmacy tech for many years and learned so much about the prescription industry, that I became cynical and quit to because a holistic practitioner in order to offer safer more natural methods of self-regulation and lifestyle changes to promote well-being.
At this point in my life, due to some previous serious physical injuries, I am enrolled in a pain management program where I use off label buprenophrine/naloxone for chronic pain of my spinal nerves. My doctor was reticent to prescribe it, because of the contraindications of benzos, but I proved knowledgeable and responsible enough for my own care, so he agreed to allow my alternative doc to continue his treatment because he understands and respects what people like us go through when dealing with the trauma of whatever triggers Anxiety attacks and has the wisdom to know a person who feels secure and respected often times responds better to protocols targeting those chronic issues.
Once I was accepted as his patient but allowed to continue on the Valium, my stress levels reduced enough that pain levels reduced as well.. I know you feel like you are in hell at this point, but don't give up, and hopefully you can find exactly the compassionate physician who will hear you and attend to your needs without complicating it with unwanted advice or unnecessary treatment. Simple is better, because the body has an Immense capacity to heal itself given the correct combination of support to address body mind and spirit. I know, because I am one of those people.
Best of luck and Blessings for a healthier future
