Expired Buspar

So i’m just wondering if i’m able to take 3 month expired buspar? I haven’t been sleeping again due to my anxiety spiking up super bad at night causing me to have panic attacks in my sleep.. i haven’t been able to go to the doctor and they can’t fit me in until next month but I found my old Prescription that has the date to discard as 2/4/22. Will they still help me sleep??

Most medications that have been expired for a short time are still ok to take. Few, if any develop any kind of dangerous issue. Typically, the med begins to lose efficacy. I’m not a doc, or a pharmacist, and I would suggest you call a pharmacist and run this situation by them.

What Beth stated is correct, this Buspar does not become dangerous, once expired, but it may begin to lose efficacy, so the best thing to do would be to dispose of it, and obtain a new supply.

However, if your doctor is okay with you taking the expired medication, then make sure not take more, since that could still result in overdose if the efficacy hasn't really diminished.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, mood changes, irritability, and dry mouth.
