Fda Please Bring Tedral Back!
UpdatedI was prescribed Tedral as a child. Hated it because I always went to sleep. Really would love to take it now. Inhalers don't work. S pens too much time on nebulizer treatment after treatment. Preventive medication the same. I used to try one after the other and for some reason when I take these preventive meds I gain weight.
I had asthma from as age 3 to 12. I remember oxygen tents. Now you take a treatment and it may be hours before I have relief. That means the preventive meds don't work. I am 62 now and I am tired. I don't have COPD, just asthma, and it's back as violently now as when I was a child. Difference is nebulizers take a long time to work and keep me up. Ans symb, adva, etc don't work.
How do we get the drug administration allow Tedral back on market? This stuff for asthmatics is a joke. A lot of companies are making a lot of money for a lot of equipment and medications. Bet one dose of Tedral and I would be fine.

I am sorry that this medication is no longer available, I understand how frustrating that must be for you. My mother-in-law also has severe asthma and has gone through so many medications to find any that really worked.
What specific inhalers have you tried, other than those you list? She has done very well with Breo Ellipta and Incruse, though the FDA does warn that they may cause some dizziness, odd taste, and dry mouth.
What have you been using in your nebulizer? Perhaps you just aren't on the right combination.
Do you know what causes your asthma?
I too have asthma and now I'm beginning of COPD. I use Symbicort and ProAir inhalers and my nebulizer solutions contain Ipratropium Bromide and Albuterol Sulfate. Works pretty good. I have tried others but most caused severe urine retention which resulted in wearing a catheter for several weeks until meds left my system. So I stick with the same Symbicort and ProAir. I too never realized I had COPD. I was finally sent to a different pulmonary doc after many before and they did the pft evaluation that revealed borderline COPD. Due to asthma aggravated by smoking, I haven't smoked in years but was recently diagnosed, so it happens. I was also informed that asthma patients inevitably get COPD because no matter how you slice it, both are lung diseases. I wish you the best and hope you find a formula of treatments that work well for you. Also, all of my pulmonary doctors said that asthma and COPD cause sleep disorders and patients need a sleep aid. I take melatonin 10 mg that works well. Good luck.
