I Have Unbearable Tooth Pain From A Cavity In A Rear Molar.

I have unreal pain from a cavity in a rear molar. hot or cold liquids create unbelievable pain in my jaw. I have a dental appointment in two weeks on Feb 10. I relayed this information to the dentist and the secretary said there is nothing that can be done until my appointment. I have tried aspirin and ibuprofen and there is no relief whatsoever from the pain. It is so bad I am not driving because the pain is such a distraction. I am not nor have I ever been addicted to any type of opioids or pain medication. What are my options for obtaining some kind of medication for the pain until my appointment? Should I go to the emergency room and explain my predicament? I realize there is no way for a medical professional to test for nor is there an indicator for pain but I am in agony from this and need some kind of help.

Hi Tom,

Sorry to hear about your situation. I really feel for you as at least in my own personal experience there's nothing else like the sheer intensity and nagging persistence of dental/nerve pain. It can literally be mind-numbing at times. How have you been doing since the timing of your post? Noticeably better I hope!

I remember using clove oil and vanilla extract to help numb the pain (until I got to a dentist) last I recall facing a similar issue. I'm still searching for a magic way to rectify this type of pain if it ever should occur in the future. Even opioids seemed useless in my case, however they may still work for you. If presented in the right way, I can't imagine a compassionate doctor or dentist turning down your plea for temporary relief from a short-term prescription of narcotic pain medicine. They've got nothing to lose.

I'd also encourage you to investigate Kratom (maeng da green or red bali) if all else fails.

Why are you actually waiting for your dentist when there are 100's around who would gladly take you in ASAP if you're in pain. Your current dentist is not a good dentist if he/she doesn't take you in quickly or the front desk clerk is clueless. It is normal dental business practice to see a patient that is in pain.

I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago uterus & ovaries were removed . The gynae put me on Angelique due to hot flushes etc . The gynae that I am seeing currently suggested that I stop taking the hrt as i was not suppose to take Angelique cause this should only be taken if you have a uterus & ovaries ! Nevertheless my worry is how will it affect my lifestyle if I stop it after so many years !

U can go 2 an ED 4 treatment, dental pain can b considered emergency (esp. if abcess/infection) they can do a "nerve block" it is miserable but, u will have instant relief & 4 sev. hours....... Medicare won't cover this so b prepared if applicable..... Good luck!

My husband had terrible tooth pain, and I had him take top shelf Bali Kratom for the pain until he could get to the dentist. It completely alleviated the pain. He was having a hard time taking the Kratom but there are many different ways of ingesting it.
