I do not have access to any other antibiotic at the moment but do have some nitrofurantoin. Will it help with what looks like an infection from a cut on my leg? ## It might not, since this one is usually used mainly to treat urinary tract infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Have you consulted a medical professional? They should be able to prescribe something that will help and work better for you. Are you on any other medications?

I took my last dose this afternoon. I was given this for a uti. About 3 days in i stareted feeling awful....nausea, sweats, body aches. However i really just wanted my uti gone, and it was to late to call dr. Now my eyes really hurt, I have a small spot on both my eyes....I am wondering if this will go away now that i have finished meds or do i need to follow up with dr? ## It never hurts to have such issues checked out by your doctor, there is a chance these symptoms may go away, according to NIH reports, but there is a chance they might be unrelated. Has there been any change, so far? Are you on any other medications? Has your UTI cleared up? What do you mean by a spot, is it a floater, or a spot that is always present?

Can the prescription Nitrofurantoin be taken for the sympthoms of earache, sore throat, headache, and skin sore to the touch? I was also chilling twelve hours ago. ## Nitrofurantoin is used to treat urinary tract infections. Nitrofurantoin is in a class of medications called antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria that cause infection. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. That said, I think it would be best to diagnose the underlying causes of your sore skin, headache, sore throat, and ear ache. In my honest opinion, a naturopathic doctor would best suit your needs for all the above symptoms and conditions. Additionally, I do see some antibiotics being prescribed for ear aches; however Nitrofurantoin is primarily used for UTI's, so you may also want...

Can I use this antibiotic? ## Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin) is usually not the preferred antibiotic to treat dental infections. It is most commonly used to treat urinary tract infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and stomach pain. It would be best to see a dentist, so they can prescribe the appropriate medications and correct the problems that have caused these issues. If you allow them to continue, things are just going to keep getting worse. As someone that has had to get dentures due to severe dental issues throughout my life, I can tell you that while I do lov...

Can you use nitrofurantoin for an infection in the cuticle of a finger if there is a little pus? ## Has it been prescribed for you to treat it? It is an antibiotic, but should only be taken if you were told to take it for such an issue by a medical professional. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea. i use these pills for kindey inffection if i stop usin them wat will happen ## If you don't finish the full course of an antibiotic, there is a definite risk that the bacteria that caused the infection will not be eradicated and will develop into antibiotic resistant bacteria. Such 'super' bacteria can make you very ill and will be much, much harder to eradicate with other antibiotics. I started taking Macrobid for a UTI, I only took one pill yesterday and one today. This afternoon my right eye hurts and waters some. I have had dry eye issues in the eye previously. I am also female and 62 years old. Will this go away when I quit the Macrobid? ## It might not, actually, according to the FDA, this medication has been known to cause optic neuritis, which can sometimes result in permanent damage to the optic nerve. My dog is a chawaa and I was wanting to know if I can give her nitrofurantoin mono-mcr 100 mg and if so how much ## Hello, Kimmy? How is your pup doing? Did you mean she's a chihuahua? If so, I would suggest not giving it to her, unless your veterinarian tells you to do so. Chihuahuas are usually tiny and can be very sensitive to medications, thus their dosage needs to be precisely calculated to avoid causing them harm. As reported by the Merck Veterinary Manual, an overdose could result in liver failure, kidney failure, and respiratory distress, any of which has the potential to be fatal. ## May I give my 6kg dog a quarter Alzam due to the cracker noise
