I've been taking the oxycontin oc for years now. I want to know what exactly is in the new oxycontin op? PLEASE HELP

I feel empathy for your problem. I took zohydro er for a year. But, it cost over $600 a month, and even with the $250 off coupon, I couldn't afford it. I am behind with all my bills. My credit is ruined. My doctor put me on the oxycontin when I told him I couldn't afford the zohydro anymore. I have been sick all month. I thought it was because of the medication difference, you know, going from a hydrocodone to an oxycodone. But, from all you have to say, it seems I have walked into a bad drug. And these cost $400.00 and have no coupon! WOW! I was better off before. He will make me wait before I change again. The insurance company will pay eventually, if I try all the other options. I have tried methadone. That was a disaster. That stuff was so strong. I fell and hurt myself pretty badly. This will be my third medication. I was on a percocete/tramodol compound, but it was dangerous to take with the antidepressant I take, and now I have a medium/strong palsy in my right hand/arm when resting it. Great, huh? I also take a strong medication for nerve damage. It makes my legs swell badly, but it's better than the alternative. It gets scary sometimes, tho., because my left leg is prone to swelling anyway, so it swells 3x to 4x it's normal size. Needless to say, I take aspirin and wrap it up. I wear a compression stocking on the left leg during the daytime if I am out of bed. I invested in a 4 inch foam mattress pad that I found in the Fingerhut catalog. (Not the memory foam. Regular foam.) I feel like I spend my life in bed, so I might as well make it comfortable. The good thing about the gabopenton is that it makes me drowsy. I sleep like a baby when I take it. If I have to drive during the day and someone rides my bumper, I roll the window down and hang my head out the window and play music really loud to stay alert. I hate that you are also having problems. It shouldn't be like this. I put in my years as a special education teacher and was looking forward to retirement. I waited for my severe children to graduate before I retired so I knew they would be well taken care of and would be in good post graduate work programs. Too bad I couldn't do the same for myself.

I preferred the regular ones as opposed to the new ones, they're crap. Luckily I still have several of the old ones since I had my fusion. If the numbness ever goes away, which I imagine it will, I will probably have to start taking them again. But in the mean time I get to enjoy not being in as much pain. If anyone knows about numbness with back fusion let me know. {edited for privacy}

I live in Kentucky. When I fill my Oxycontin prescription they keep giving me OP, but I don't want them. Does anyone know if I can get the ones that say OC and if so, what pharmacy do I need to go to?

Amen my friend!! They don't give 2 f***s about what these new junks are doing to our bodies not to mention they work like s***, dont break all the way down and have doctor's convinced they're the absolute same and work identically! Smfh! All they care about is the money anyway so give us back wtf works for our pain!! We all don't abuse meds we're not all junked out on whatever opiate can find. The only ones suffering are the hard working, labor intense grunt workers for the man!!! If you want a job well done!? Get me my proper meds and it'll be done twice as good, as fast and absolutely more friendly! I'm not too friendly when I'm suffering from 4 knee surgeries. I have about 45% of my back that still functions and eventually I'll be in a damn wheel chair! But please, while I'm working my 80+hr week bridge foreman job, I need to be able to concentrate and do my job and fit and weld 100%. I can not do that if I'm dying there in pain! Please give us our meds that worked back, please!

I ran out of my Oxycontin OC 2 days early due to not being able to sleep several times over the month (I have PTSD and I've gone through MAJOR Traumas in less than a years time. My Companion (21 yrs my senior) of 17 yrs killed at a house he set up to be my HOME but his daughter and Attorney (who has committed more Fraudulent activity against me, takes my Home, puts me back at a house being foreclosed on w/ no heat/hot water since Dec 2009, I have had my Rights as a humane being taken from me, my Civil Liberties, (heck, I have NO Rights at all!) due to all the Traumas I have gone through since finding my companion killed!
Trying to keep my Faith and dealing with Chronic back pain on top of it... this is bull (CT likes the revolving door routine - hospitals do the MRI's but a Doctor can diagnose me from my DENTAL records! TRUE! & BS it was allowed when I told my APRN about it!)
NOW the changing of my Oxycontin to this OP crap?
Time release? When does it start? It's been 12 hours and no relief! Do I waste another pill? Did it even disolve in my system? (Yeah, I'm checking my stool, I've had certain pills do this before!)
I have to pack, I have legal work to do to FIX my life where CT destroyed it along with a 'certain' Shyster of an Attorney!
I DON'T have time to play Guinea Pig! I DON'T have time to keep laying in bed or in a chair with heat on my back!
I HAVE TO save my life and this OXYCONTIN OP is going to end up finishing me off!
STOP MESSING WITH MEDICATIONS THAT WORK!
YOU CAN NOT STOP PEOPLE FROM ABUSING OR SELLING DRUGS OF ANY KIND! WAKE UP! WHY DO PEOPLE THAT NEED IT END UP PAYING?

Okay, I just experimented. I had taken a whole Oxycontin OP-20mg., 12 hours ago and it had NO effect AT ALL in reducing my pain. It was a constant chronic pain like a baseball bat hit me in the lower back. This I'm checking my stool to see if it even disolved (I worked in the Septic business my whole life, plus it's a natural bodily function so it doesn't gross me out to do this *actually human waste is 'thee BEST' fertilizer! Think about it...)
'This time' I chopped it up to hopefully force the medication into my system faster (NO LIE but a Doctor I saw to look at my MRI *brought my dental by mistake but it didn't matter to him - he told me if I was in excrutiating pain (as I do go in every now and then) he told me (but will deny of course) to crush and snort and it will take perhaps a few minutes to work. I tried it (versus wishing I was dead from the pain I was in and crying/screaming from the pain) - YES, it DID WORK and I DO thank the Doctor for telling me what to do (not that I make a 'habit' of this) and the BEST thing was, NO side effects! I COULD NOT understand why people snort it due to it doesn't give you a 'high' AT ALL (at least it didn't for me, it just took away the excrutiating pain)
I just spent 3 days in bed with no medication, I'm given this OP crap, I broke it up and swallowed (like I said) NOW I get this HORRIBLE speeding affect, my head is messed up - NOW I see what people get off misusing it! DON'T TELL ME THERE IS 'NO' DIFFERENCE IN THE MEDICATION! WHAT THE *ELL DID THEY PUT IN THIS OP CRAP? THIS IS HORRIBLE!

The Assistant for my APRN I see that perscribes my Oxycontin tells me now my APRN won't be in until 'Thursday' (all day was saying 'Wednesday', tells me she doesn't know anything about this 'OP', to call my Pharmacy (I do), they tell me to call my APRN, told them I did, they said 'We'll call them' (why?) The Assistant calls me back and says the regular Oxycontin is completely OFF the market, you can't get it 'anywhere' because people were crushing it and snorting it (my sister accused me of this and also said I was snorting cocaine, drinking alcohol, was talking suicide and had a 'gun' and was going to 'End it' - my Mother from NC drives up because she couldn't get me admitted into a hospital any other way (so let's get together, get her out of 'her house' so you and your fiance can take over that beautiful contemporary- 5 State Police and 5 guns pointing at me later... I'm in the hospital... funny thing.... NOTHING illegal in my system, no alcohol no gun and (the Psycyatrists say my family is disfunctional and my sister and mother belong in the hospital, not me) so now I have this bad rap. I told the Assistant I can't take the OP, it's not working - she tells me it's the same 'exact thing' and I'll have to wait until 'after Thursday to talk to my APRN about getting something else. Okay... so I'm back in bed until Thursday or when ever and I'm going homeless and have no where to go, have no heat, no hot water since Dec (they know this) so how do I do anything when the State only gives me 5 1/2 hrs for my Homemaker but gives another woman (who sells her Oxy for years 8 hrs)

the common theme is that those that have been taking oxycontin for years complain which means you have not taken the correct steps to eliminate the need to take them. if you ar ein a condition that requires them and have not gotten the means to correc the problem means you rely on this crutch to sustain life. suck it up and get surgery and fix it. the you will not need these pills that are so awful now... not one person that get the initial script to mange their pain legitimately complains jus the seasoned vet that has taken oxy for 5 years plus which means you went outsideof the intended use to begin with. if your doc has been prescribing you OC 80's for 7 years??? do the math...

Wow! I take them as well and I do not see ANY difference as well. In fact, the ONLY people that I know personally who are complaining about it are the ones who abused it. I've only heard the I'm choking on phlegm and making me sick to my stomach from known snorters in my family. These same people were ALL faking SSI claims and having medicaid paying for thier oxy's while trading and dealing with each other when they snorted themselves out of meds. Waaaahh... you guys were so smug when they took the generic off the market and the Dr. couldn't try to make you go on that. I've had 2 firends die in the last year from abusing it like that. DEAL WITH IT.
