Updated

I have been on Ozempic now for 5 weeks. I started at the .25mg and after two weeks, upped it to the 0.5mg. I have never felt so dang good! I'm 53, post-meno, non-diabetic, 5'4", and SW was 264. My current weight, after just one month was down 19lbs! Now I'm down 21lbs! I'd love to finally be 165lbs or so again. I haven't been that small since I was about 11 years old. Ozempic has saved me! I can't believe it. I actually look forward to the injection every week. I only had nausea for a little bit the day after I started. And since, then, it's been great! No diarrhea, no nausea, just boundless energy. And not just that, but it's done something to my brain! I have this amazing sense of optimism, and positivity. I feel hopeful again! I feel like I AM going to finally lose this miserable weight. I don't have much hunger. This stuff makes me NOT want junk food! It's a damn miracle, I tell you! I WANT to eat healthy stuff now. How did this happen?! LOL! I crave lettuce and raw broccoli, and carrots, and good steak. I hardly eat any breads or biscuits, haven't had any cookies or cake. I did have one small tiny little container of Blue Bunny vanilla ice cream. The kind in the little 1/4 cup containers that you buy. I think they come 10 to a pack? Five vanilla, five chocolate... And I'm also snacking on healthy nuts. Walnuts, pecans, pumpkin seeds and pistachios. I am so happy!! Let the weight loss continue! The struggle before was real. And now, I feel euphoric and I just KNOW I'm finally going to be able to wear clothes out of the regular section of the store, not the damn plus sized 2X and 3X options!!

Kickbacks to doctors have been really illegal for more than 20 years, I don’t know why you’re being abusive to people

Have you taken this medication and it destroyed your digestive system? Or are you just mad that women are able to lose weight easily? You seem angry. Are you OK?

I mean congratulations to you, but everyone is different. It’s not that simple especially with women with hormone issues after menopause.

I was on Ozempic for two years through my GP. I came off it in July 2023, due to shortages of the 1mg from my pharmacy, and my GP says the recommendations are that you should not be on it for more than two years. I had no issues while being on Ozempic, apart from initially getting used to the build-up of the doses. Now, for the past six months since coming off Ozempic, I have had intermittent diarrhea, cramps, and sometimes I go to the loo 5/6 times in an hour! Bowel investigations have shown diverticulitis. My GP has prescribed Mebeverine, three times a day before meals, and Buscopan for the cramps. I had none of these symptoms prior to commencing Ozempic. Is this a side effect after coming off it?

Re: Mary (# 27) Expand Referenced Message

I think my insurance is going to stop paying for it. I still had to pay a lot and jump through hoops to get it approved. I hope I don't have to stop taking it but I cannot afford full price for sure.

Re: Lydia (# 16) Expand Referenced Message

19 pounds in a week???? 3 lbs a day??? Doesn't that tell you something is EXTREMELY wrong?? Respectfully, think about preordering your feces bag as soon as your digestive tract gets permanently paralyzed.

I burned 1,000 a day and consumed 1,200 calories a day and lost twenty lbs, one less than you without taking that poison. You eat 1,400 calories and burn 1,000 a day. You subsist on 400 calories peray and need no medicinal help.

My DD is on medicaid and gets it. I think it is how your doctor prescribes it. She goes to an endocrinologist.

Re: Carol (# 30) Expand Referenced Message

Of course it was prescribed. Drug companies pay doctors with money, trips, and other gifts to push their meds. I live in N.Y. So if you think your doctor's give you this poison out of real need or goodness, I have a bridge to sell you. Wake up steeple. Bad effects will take place within 12-18 months. At least you won't have to use a toilet anymore. Just dispose of the feces filled bag like you do when you walk a dog. I really feel for the people this will happen to. It is irreversible.

Also, see how happy you are when your digestive system freezes and the movement of waste stops dead and you don't have a bowel movement for weeks without dangerous amounts of laxatives. It's 11/2 years and my digestive system remains paralyzed with three operations and I now have to wear a bag to drain my feces. Yay for Ozempic!!!

Re: Dee (# 18) Expand Referenced Message

We have an endocrinologist, he is the one that prescribed it. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but my DD had no problem getting it. I did and my insurance has only approved it for a year. But for me has been a miracle drug and her too.

Re: Cyndy (# 12) Expand Referenced Message

I am not diabetic but had issues with hypoglycemia. If you have that issue you know what happens, you are hungry and then you eat and eat to try to keep your blood sugar level. I tried to be moderate but when you can't seem to get it right to feel good, well I overate. I started on ozempic and it has stopped this problem and as a wonderful side effect I also lost 45 pounds. Without this weight loss on my very bad feet I would not still be walking. I had braces on my lower legs and thought I was going to end up in a wheelchair. I tried to stop it for a few weeks and the issue came back with my hypoglycemia. The dizziness, the feeling sick at my stomach, the over eating, cold sweats. I started back at .25mg, I never had to get beyond .5mg and I'm ok again. Ozempic delays the emptying of your stomach and this keeps my sugar level good. The doc also said it is good for my heart, I have had some TIA's in the past and nothing since. So do you think it's not fair for me to take this too? It has changed my life.

My DD takes it too, she is mentally challenged, has chronic afib and other issues. She was prediabetic and weighed 194 she is 5'3" and was suffering badly. On jardiane and ozempic, she started losing weight to and felt better, now she is actually down 70 pounds and off jardiane, her glucose level was going to low so off it. Now our docs are thrilled, they said we are text book examples. Our glucose levels are perfect test after test, we both feel better and others are correct, for some reason it also takes away the cravings. I know why mine did, not sure for her. I have had constipation, but always had a problem with that. This is has given us a new outlook on life. By the way I'm 77 and it saved me and she is 52 and doing well too. Can't say enough good about this med. We are tested every 3 months by our endocrinologist.

Re: Didi (# 23) Expand Referenced Message

I have been on Ozempic for a little over five weeks and have lost 21 pounds. I also have an unbelievable sweet tooth to include Zingers, ice cream and oreos and I refuse to cut them out completely no matter what my brain tells me. I also burn at least 1000 calories per day while exercising while consuming no more than 1400 calories per day which creates the caloric deficit as I continue to burn calories post exercise. We got this.

Re: Janean (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I totally empathize with you, the shortages suck! However, being overweight is just as dangerous as Diabetes for many folks. I am 2 points away from being full blown diabetic, should I wait to start Ozempic once I am Diabetic or try and avoid it i I can? With obesity comes heart disease, stroke, depression, cancer, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, liver disease, infertility, kidney disease, high cholesterol and more. Not everyone who is taking it for weight loss just want to lose a few pounds, they have been dealing with obesity their whole life and that is a disease, just like diabetes is. I am so happy that there is a drug that can help diabetics and folks with obesity, hopefully they will figure out to not have the shortages any longer!

Re: Janean (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

If you’re on insulin, you’re not supposed to take this medication. And weight loss does contribute to the lowering of an A1c for a type two diabetic.
