Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

I've been on viibryd for 6 years. I feel as though it's no longer working. Get brain zaps, more depressed, anxiety, etc.

What are WD symptoms going from 40 to 20?

I felt the same when I started it; 40 sounds like a lot, but I believe it is considered the “therapeutic” dose. I didn’t feel joy again until I reached that dose. 17 months now and no side effects. I feel like it was made for me. Just don’t take it at bedtime; it seems to cause nightmares.

Just started Viibryd 3rd day and feeling better....lamectal down to 100...and yes Xanax helps me sleep and lorazepam I take as needed daytime ( Xanax makes me too groggy to drive)
I pace a lot ...thinking Viibryd is starting to slightly alter that...started on 10 for 5 days 20 after that. Has anyone felt good at 10 and didn’t have to go to 20?

I see that this discussion is pretty old, but I just wanted to contribute. I started Viibryd in August of 2016 after trying a number of other medications without success. I finally had a genetic test done called Genesight. It revealed that Viibryd would be a good choice for my metabolism. Due to my fear related to past experiences with medication, I started out at only 5 mg. I eventually reached the therapeutic dose of 40 mg in October. By the end of that month I could feel my anxiety subsiding and my depression lifting. Now, in January 2018, I am feeling fabulous. I can honestly say I have never felt so well in my enire life. The only issue I had early on was sleep paralysis and nightmares, but when I switched from taking it before bedtime to taking it with breakfast, that has completely subsided. My anxiety and depression are COMPLETELY gone.

If I didn't take it at the same time every day I would first yawn a lot and if I still didn't take it I would easily be angered.

Viibryd NEEDS to be taken on a full stomach! I take it after supper. I do get short of breath a few hours later, but it only lasts about 20 min or so and I do some DEEP breathing which helps it a lot. I've been taking it for about 6 months now. I did the 10-20-40 routine, but have now dropped back to the 20 which is where I think I'll stay.

I have had anxiety attacks during the middle of the night and found out they were related to low blood sugar. When your blood sugar gets dangerously low your body secrets adrenaline to bring it back to normal when it does not receive more glucose from eating something. Make sure to rule out that your blood sugar is being kept stable.

Xuxu,
I came off the Viibryd and was treated with prednisone which saved my life. It wasn't too difficult to come off of the drug. I went back to Wellbutrin and it helped considerably.
After a month treatment of prednisone, the lupus (as well as dermatomyositis- also triggered by Viibryd) is no longer active.

I wish you good luck, Xuxu!

I've been in Viibryd for close to 3 months, I was started out on 10 mg. and 1 month later increased to 20 mg. I'm having side effects with the increased dose, brain zaps, headaches, occasionally slight convulsion. Does anyone relate to this?

Hello. I have been on 20 mg daily Viibryd for close to 3 years now. About a month ago, I got the flu followed by bronchitis and around 5 days into being sick, I woke up in the middle of the night with what I can only describe as rebound depression/anxiety. Very dark mood, strangely blocked by any rational understanding of why this mood followed by anxiety and panic. I took a .5mg xanax and the episode ended with me falling back asleep. Since then, it has been 3 weeks. I have recovered nicely from bronchitis but I have had several more of these episodes at various times of day under various circumstances and various levels of intensity (including 2 that really freaked me out). The episodes are like waves of intense emotion :sadness, anger, frustration and fear, and only subside after a few hours if I meditate and try to calm down. My first response to this was to increase my dose to 40mg. Big mistake as the episode that followed was much worse. In the past, on a particularly stressful week, I would increase to 40 mg for a few days with no problems. I am now religiously taking my 20mg everyday at lunchtime and at first things seemed better but the attacks of depression/anxiety seem to be back. My PCP prescribed this to me and when I saw him last week, he prescribed me an inhaler for the bronchitis and swore that this was all just physical ailment and symptoms from my illness and that I was freaking myself out by thinking it had anything to do with the Viibryd. He is definitely very limited in his knowledge of viibryd withdrawl and other problems associated with this drug so I am fairly certain he is useless in figuring out what is wrong with me. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone and does anyone have any idea as to why my Viibryd has suddenly stopped working and what do you suggest I do about it??? Very frightened here and not looking forward to future episodes. Any advice appreciated.

This will be the third day for taking Viibryd. I am anxious to get back on it. It helps improve my memory and my well being mentally and spiritually from past incidences that has majorly depressed me and caused anxiety. It helps me focus on the things I need to in order to concentrate. I feel like I have had amnesia and now I am remembering who I am. This is all I have ever needed was just the gaps filled in so I can feel connected to my being.

I am also on Viibryd and Remeron as these two together seem like the only thing that works for me. I'm curious as to weight gain? I have gained over 20 lbs since beginning these meds and that in itself is enough to depress me. I've never had weight issues before.

thanks for sharing - I just started viibryd and the pain from my bulged disk which was mostly under control has been out of control. Otherwise, some spaciness, weapiness--not feeling that it is sufficiently effective so far. The joint pain issue is a deal breaker. Too bad. Paxil works for me, but causes some memory issues and makes my post-pregnancy belly feel bloated and huge. I guess its constipation, not sure. Oh yeah and blood sugar a little high. Oy these meds. 40 feels way too young to be having all these problems. Hopefully it will calm back down--at least the back pain stuff--I'd accepted anxiety and severe PMS but all of the sudden since turning 40 it's like a 3 ring circus with all the side effects acting up, trying to find a better drug etc.

I lost all of my scalp hair due to viibryd. It is only partially regrowing after 1 year however I haven't discontinued the medication yet. Now that I've found other hair loss stories I will.

Veteran,
I just got my blood test results back and it is indicating lupus! I've been taking Viibryd since june... Did you stop taking Viibryd? Did the Lupus go away? I have this small rash close to my nose... I'm so scared and I don't know what to do - Viibryd is the only medicine that made me feel back to normal, I don't want to go back and suffer from my anxiety and depression again... :(

Hi everyone! Well, I'm so sorry to hear of everyone's experiences on this drug, but at the same time, so relieved. My hubs is no support at all. I have tried taking these pills both at night and in the morning. Both options offer horrible side effects. If I take it too early in the morning, then because it doesn't seem to have a full day half life for me, when it starts leaving my system in between doses is when I fall into those night terrors...the most terrifying things I've ever experienced. But if I take it at night, then I'm wide awake all night and get to greet the sun each morning. I've been on these for about 1 1/2 years. I'm on 40 mg/day, and while it has helped normalize my emotions, my hubs just blew up at me last week because he notices that all I want to do is sleep/stay at home...it's time for a change. I know the process might not be wonderful, but I'm going to have to fight through it in order to get to something better.
