I searched forever trying to find some way to get a discount. I actually did ok with what I decided to try. Hope this info helps, I never respond to these things but I know this is a hard situation so here is what I did.... First I am in Pennsylvania and haven researched for other states but I am going to assume it would work for most states. Go to this site's rx discount card and print the free card, take it to a pharmacy and use it. You can search on the website for prices for various pharmacies in your area (expand the search, prices vary greatly and it's worth a ride to save $100 or more) I got a price of $120 for 30 count, 30mg generic adderall xr, then i expanded the search and only 2 miles further it picked up Walgreens which had it for $80 Still I am not a big believer in internet acuracy, I seriously thought it was most likely bull. So I went to Walgreens and asked for a price before they filled it, it was $160 before the card and I was thinking...ok surely that won't take it down to $80, but the pharmacy was nice enough to check the price before and after the card and we were all surprised that it came to $80.60
The card is free, and you just print it from the internet and take it for immediate use, and i believe it is reuseable for as many times as you please. This is for Generic Adderall XR, the brand is more expensive, but I've never tried brand and will never be able to afford it. So hope this info helps some people. Good Luck.

$57.00 for one month supply of 120 20mg pills. The rx discount card actually gives major discounts, I am on the generic adderall, amphetamine salts 20mg 4x a day so a total of 120 20mg pills monthly. I went to Walgreens there normal price is $168 the card lowered it to $106. CVS lowered it from $178 to $120, Targets regular price was $278 for a generic?!?! I didn't even try there. Wal-Mart regular price is $168 but they were too busy to do me the favor of checking out the discount before I submitted it, so I went to COSTCO.
Before January 2012 my 120 pills only cost me $43 at Costco but then it went up to $100, which is still lower than anywhere else with or without the rx card, all of my scripts are cheaper there. I was told over the phone that they didn't take the card from their $100 Costco price that it would only deduct from the retail price. Since I was going to submit my script there because it was still cheaper than anywhere else, I asked them to please run it through their system when they processed my $100 script. Now here is the AWESOME thing, IT LOWERED MY SCRIPT from the $100 Costco price TO $57.OO, as I am sure it will my other scripts. Costco charges a $50 yearly membership fee, but basically with this one prescription it paid for itself. I have always saved probably appx. $2000 yearly for my many meds at Costco, but with this card I will save even more. Oh don't call the card customer service for provider lists because when I asked them, they told me Costco was NOT on their provider discount list, so it wouldn't apply there, which apparently they were wrong. Just take it down give them the script and the card and you will see they system knows better than the employees because it discounted my pills. I am sure this is also true for non generic as well. I've tried other cards and they never worked, but this one did so thank you, thank you so much DENCIN, you have significantly helped my financial situation.

In reply to ccorn:

I tried your approach & I got an email response back saying "Unfortunately, Shire no longer offers a patient assistance program for Adderall XR since the product went generic a couple of years ago." Could you please supply the name of the contact person &/or email address for the person who assisted you? Thank you so very much for your assistance!!

I have contacted Shire and they are out of vouchers already. "Don't know if we will be receiving anymore", they stated. I would suggest that you follow-up on a regular basis just in case they get more in. Timing is everything. Too bad they discontinued their Patient Assistance Program for brand name. Have you tried generic vs. brand as the cost difference is upward $100 (approx. $160 vs. $270)....still a lot of money!

I just want to confirm what Dencin reported. Using the free discount card printed my son got a 90 day supply of generic Adderall XR for $229 from Walgreens. This was about half the going price at other pharmacies. No hassles at all. That was a very impressive savings.

I've been on Adderall XR for over a year and am also a teacher. I recently had to drop my health insurance due to the "amazing" OBAMA Care we are having to deal with in the US and so I switched to the generic brand. I was paying in the $150's for 30 mg one month supply.
I saw the discount card link and tried it. Walgreen's prices the generic at $159.99. I used the card and got it for $80.60!! NO LIE! Dont believe me, print it off and see for yourself!

There are 3 or 4 different companies that manufacture the different MG and types of Adderall... I forget the names, but they are on the FDA website somewhere. Look them up, and try the other companies with the same idea... Might work out.

The Voucher plan did work. I received 3 30 capsule vouchers about 3 months ago suprisingly but they have already ran out because i used 2 of them and the last one expired on 12/31/2011. I emailed them again the same contact which was [email protected] if anyone is curious and they told me that they aren't offering the saving vouchers any more. So this wasn't B.S 3 months ago, but now its no good. I'm just going to try to use the Savers card listed above and see how it goes.

Indeed. I, too, am feeling the financial strain of needing Adderall. I am a veteran, and the VA will prescribe it to me; however, because it is "non-formulary" they will not fill the prescription. Because I am out of the military and currently in law school, insurance options are limited. I am going to try the options you all have listed, so thank you very much for all of the information.

And you are correct, prescriptions in America are more expensive than everywhere else in the world. Pharmaceutical (sp?) companies make all of their profit in America because of laws that were passed banning importing prescription drugs from other countries (even if they have higher quality standards in the other countries). While this legislation may have been necessary at some point to ensure quality and deter fake medications, it is only still in place because the pharmaceutical companies are in the politicians pockets, on both sides (not attacking either party - because we only get 2 in this great country of ours). Just a little sidenote about why our prescriptions are so much more than every other country.

I was paying over $160 for 60 pills (20mg) I downloaded an app on my iPhone called "lowRx" and it took the price down to around $60, I am a total skeptic about things like this (especially when it is free) but I was so desperate to save money so I downloaded a few different apps and the one I mentioned and another one called "lowest med" you can save different amounts with each card depending on the perscription. For example; one of my meds is cheaper with lowest med and more expensive with lowRx but my adderall is cheaper with lowRx and more with lowest med. hope this helps someone, honestly I NEVER post on these type of things, but I hate how unfair the prices of medications are without insurance and I wish I had been told about this a long time ago. Happy savings, and if your phone isn't comparable with the apps; go to a local dr office and see if they have any free perscription discount cards. There are also many programs that you can enroll in online and they will send you a card in the mail or let you print it out.

My son is taking Adderall XR 30mg daily. Recently, my husband lost his job and with it our health/prescription insurance. I found out from CVS that it would be $179.00 w/o our health care. After reading all of the comments and checking out various sites, I printed off a few different cards and took them with me to CVS. I explained the deal to the Pharmacy tech and she didn't even need to see the cards I had printed off, she went through various ones they honor and told me it could be discounted to $79.41. Its worth the effort to use the cards or ask your pharmacy about it. Thanks to everyone who posted here with advice - I was really unsure how we could afford that but saving $100 helped out so much! Good luck to everyone!

Can you please give the email address of your contact person? Is this for Adderall IR or Adderall XR or one of the generic versions? I just got another reply back from Shire today saying that this program has not been available since Adderall XR went generic 3 years ago.

That's so weird! That's the email address where I sent my request earlier today when I was given the negative response.

Did you call, & if so, do you know the name of the person you spoke with? Thanks so much for the clarification. I really appreciate it.
