I had been on Celexa before. I am Bipolar. I don't member how I got off but my dr works with me. I am on 75 my of EFFEXOR N 40 MG OF CELEXA. I break it in half. One for am and one for pm. Effexor is a 24 HR pill. And this way CELEXA is too. I have been diagnosed since 1994. Have had all kinds of cocktails. I like this one very much. EFFEXOR is BIG BROTHER FOR ANXIETY AND panic, but I need an antidepressant too. I am thinking, just perhaps, my reactions cud be in conjunction, with weaning off, too quickly, off one. It has to be gradual, and at same time easing into CELEXA. Many psych drs don't tell us that, there are DRS, and psychiatrists. I NEVER LET A MEDICAL DR. GIVE ME PSYCHIATRIC DRUGS!!! They try, I but DO NOT know what to do. With heartfelt sympathy.

I've been on Citalopram 40mg (generic of Celexa) for 4 months. It helped at first but then anxiety got worse and side effects of being exhausted was too much. I am using the book How To Get Off Psychoactive Drugs Safely by James Harper & Jayson Austin. The first week I took the omega 3 and other recommended supplements along with my 40mg Citalopram for the pre-taper and it made a HUGE DIFFERENCE. No more foggy head, exhaustion. I got more done in that week then the previous month combined. ALSO, no anxiety - NONE, no dizzy spells, no irritability! PLEASE GET THIS BOOK IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS ON OR OFF MEDS AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

I too was given it for anxiety. I am now on warning at work, this made me worse not bbetter. I am aggressive and angry all the time.

My Doctor put me on Citalopram 20 mg because he says I am suffering from depression due to knee replacement surgery. He told me one of the side effects would be loose stools. That happened alright but it was yellow. The pharmacist told me to contact my Doctor immediately. Has anyone experienced this? Also, still can't sleep nights.

yes i have been taken citalopram for four mouths now it has help me deal with everyday life which i could not do on my on i sleep though the night only side effort is if i miss a dose i start to feel sick but nothing else.

I have been on Lexapro for a couple of years and it has changed my life! Asked for the generic CITALOPHRAM is what they gave me.......and it is NOT like LEXAPRO....not at all!!! Made me feel like I was in a fog....after reading the problems alot of you have had with the CITALOPHRAM, I wouldn't advise switching from your LEXAPRO to the above to save money. It's just not the same. I can only afford one week at a time, but it's worth it.

This is the second time in my life that a doctor has prescribed Citalopram for anxiety/depression (they are often very related). I take it right before bed because of the drowsiness, but I sleep very well and wake up fine. It is helping me in many ways.

I know someone who uses these 8 medications: CITALOPRAM HBR, DOXEPIN, FUROSEMIDE, HYDROXYZINE, LORAZEPAM, METOPROLOL SUCCINATE ER, PREMARIN, and SINGULAIR. Is this person additted to drugs?

I agree I was taken off Lexapro and put on this, for the same reason, this drug does not work the same, and has worse side effects. It is also more expensive than Lexapro.

I took Citalopram 20 mg. for several years and have now stopped, but I had no side effects at all. Didn't make me feel bad in the least and only helped me to get back on the right track. Now I don't need it. So don't go by everyone else's experience. You have to have your own.
