Currently On 60mg. Percocet A Day From 2 Major Back Surgeries, Want To Go Back On Subutex (Top voted first)

Updated

I want to confirm from these post, can I take my subutex after being on percocets for 6 weeks from 2 major back surgeries...I'm tired of being on the percocets and once my pain subsides more I want to switch back to my subutex. I was on .25mg of subutex before my back surgery for pain meds dependency for 3 years and it changed my life 100%. Since I will be going back on subutex not suboxone do I still have to wait until I'm in moderate withdrawal before taking my subutex. I take 60mg of percocets in a 24 hr. period written by my back surgeon. Please help. Thank you Suzi

Suboxone contains Naloxone and Buprenorphine and the Naloxone neutralizes other opiates, which is why someone has to wait until they are in full withdrawal to take it, otherwise it can throw them into severe withdrawals.

However, Subutex only contains the Buprenorphine, so it can be used to just make a smooth switch, with no withdrawal necessary. However, since you just had surgery, you need to check with your doctor to make sure it is safe for you to switch back to it, before doing so.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I did the samething. I was on methadone for 20+ yrs. I started subutex, and couldn't afford it at the time, so I took At the very least 15 Norcos a day, The acetomphetomin in these drugs is leathal, and you shouldn't take more than 4 grams a day.
I was never so relieved to get back on the Subutex. Remember, its not suboxone, so you don't have to worry about percipitive withdrawl...Good luck, and God Bless
