I now live in Salem Or. The Salem Clinic/mission st. Clinic is treating me for my pain. The two main doctors there prescribe such meds. And they have a few PA 's there that you can see for common illness. And they are very good to chronic pain patients. You live in Portland area though? I wish I knew more about the physicians in that area. Has your methadone clinic tried to help at all with finding a doc? Are you insured? If you are calling your insurance ask them for a list of chronic pain docs. Are you seeing a doctor regularly? Pull your medical records. Look through every page. Before you see a new doc. Just in case you have been labeled at all for going to clinic etc. It never hurts to be informed about your records.

Dr. Baculli, and Dr. Brown. Salem clinic on mission st. Salem or. 503-399-2424. Pa's L. Iwatsuki. And a few others. But that should be a good start! The methadone clinic I went to for a year. Was Willamette valley treatment center. Salem or. My Wvch health plan helped me tremendously with finding a doctor in my network. For pain management. Good luck with everything. I know the m-done clinic is a pain to deal with! Especially having to wait to get weekly doses, and so forth. I don't know much about Portland area. What about ohsu? Or providence groups?

I just love how they throw the phrase "drug seeking" around so freely. Once that's entered into the system you're screwed. I've been on pain contacts for years due to severe musculoskeletal and neurological conditions as well as advanced stage liver disease. I went to several clinics with what was left of my meds and all my records. Finally a nurse practitioner have me enough to last until I could see my newly assigned PCP. Even my liver specialist told me to just deal with withdrawal until I could see the PCP 3 weeks later. Docs in Portland don't care! Something MUST be done about the failure to provide these much needed meds when justified and needed. It's a travesty.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, degenerate disc disease and chronic fatigue. 5 years ago I could hardly get out of bed and I was on so much medication. I was only 28, had never even heard of fibromyalgia. My doctor in CA is wonderful he has been my doctor for so long we have a great relationship but he is getting older 76 and he has ALS he use to prescribe me 2 months of meds every visit but in April he said a DEA agent told him he can't do that anymore. But I have checked the DEA website and it states that a doctor can write up to 90 days of meds so I'm a little confused since I can't find anything in the CA laws that states that he can't either and I can't see my doctor lying. If he wanted to stop giving me 2 months worth of meds he would have just told me. The amount of meds I take now is pretty low considering I've been on them for 11 years and I have decreased the amount by a lot. I would love to decrease the amount even more but it's been difficult. I understand that doctors need to be cautious about drug seeking behavior however there are still ppl like me that really need them to function and take care of our families. In all honesty I don't want to change doctors but I'm going to have to sooner or later became of my doctors health. I have found 4 doctors in Oregon that are willing to look at my records 2 of those have either lost a doctor or do not take insurance one is 3 hours away and the other has never called me back even though I have called 10 times in 2 weeks. I need to be able to take care of my three year old son.

Try Dr. Maksamov at Columbia Spine and Pain institute. 831 NW Council Dr., Gresham, Or, 503-382-8100 (will probably need referral from PC depending on insurance).

I've noticed now that I'm 50 years of age of been properly diagnosed with specific disorders that doctors actually believe exist. Problem is if you lived in Oregon and had pain for years, seeking doctors for help, it looks like your drug seeking. All it takes is one or two doctors assuming you are and putting it in your notes, and you're screwed. I stayed away from doctors for 8 years because I was fed up, and still my past haunts me when I see a new primary and they say we don't provide pain medication. I did meet a wonderful Doctor Who took me seriously but he's moving in writing a book now so I'm going to lose him.

Washington state treats people in pain like they are criminals along with a very ugly way they talk to you. They set up these little scams to collect money with pain clinics; they will drain you dry with no bank account left for most. They have Palliative Care that is make up the rules as they go. I looked up, on Google, 'Guidelines for Palliative Care' these people don't have a clue. Put you in a very small room you can't move in, with five or six of their staff every time you have to go to them which is every month and they go on an on about nothing over an over. Then they send you to a pain clinic that you have to go to every month. This is about 8 or 9 thousand a month for both forever payments. You have to beg for pain medication. This is Palliative care, can you believe it. It is suppose to be for very ill people. Stay away from Olympia or just stay away from Washington state if you are in pain. I get in so much pain I don't know what to do.

I keep hearing everyone say we chronic patients need to be heard. Problem is all everyone is doing is. Talking to one another it's getting us no where need to call senators governors Congress the white house because it's going to get worse

I agree but chronic pain patients that don't abuse their meds and do try alternate treatment should not have their meds taken away if what they are doing is working.I am lucky my Dr really cares about me and my individual situation. I feel for patients who were being treated and taken care of then just abandoned by their dr.

It seems most doctors have quit listening...I had a doctor tell me recent that the doctors are no longer in control...that the "Government" I'd now in control

We patients that truly need pain meds for valid reasons and don't abuse them need to start calling our congress men and the white house, we need to start making noise. Congress is including people with illicit drug problems dying from overdose on chronic pain. We need to use our voices every where to be heard. They are not differentiating between real pain patients and addicts. Basically the government is controlling our care. I am lucky I have an amazing Dr. but instead of complaining to each other we need to get groups together in every area which is every state and city, we need to start writing letters and calling as this is going to get worse. Remember congress works for us. We need organizers who are willing.

Yes it's a state that takes care of the people who have pain and need it. My doctor just stopped giving his people pain meds and told me to get them from er. So I went there and they say they can't be a pain manager for us people and I have been to pain management twice. I don't need to be told how to manage it. I know how to do that. I just need something to get me through the day not wanting to rip someone's head off. I just don't get it, they give methadone to all the junkys but can't help us. Is that what there trying to do to all of us? It's not humane to do what they're doing.

The current CDC prescribing "recommendations" explicitly encourages providers to avoid prescribing narcotic painkillers in conjuntion with CNS depressant, namely benzodiazepines. They dedicated an entire section where there is detailed discussion of associated risks increased morbidity when these classes of drugs are used together. While these drugs do have risks, there are safe ways to perscibe and monitor patients use. In my experience most doctors are too terrified to do so given these current CDC warnings and fear legal action might be taken against their license. My last provider would not, EVER!

However, one must acknowledge the CDC indicates ALL CNS depressants are increases such risks, and not just benzodiazepines. Although many doctors routinely prescribe alternatives to benzodiazepines that are still classified as CNS depressants. These include many allergy/cold, sleep, blood pressure, muscle relaxants, and antidepressant mediation to name a few. It's hard not to question the role of the CDC in all of this when only one drug class is discussed. Seems the influence our government has over our providers is preventing many from accessing safe individualized and quality the medical treatment for legit medical conditions. There has got to be a better way to limit abuse of such drugs while ensuring that our doctors can still take care of those who need it most without fear of retaliation from our government.
