Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 84) (Top voted first)

Updated

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

O.M.Gosh. you all have me petrifiied. I just started fentanyl about 2 weeks ago, and my docters never asked me if I wanted to be on it. Nor did they discuss anything at all about it with me. I mean yes, I have many non reversable medical problems, Im only 50 years old, and Im living with a 90 year olds body, because of degenerative disc dease, m.s. f/m to name just a few of my health issues. But wow, I'm reading nothing good about this drug. What should it really be being used for?????????

I am a lucky person and have a pain management Doctor that understands Fentanyl. I am able to work a full-time professional job with the help of the pain relief that fentanyl provides. I don't have much energy after working but I can make dinner, do laundry, go shopping, etc. I was in so much pain before I started using the patches 7 or 8 years ago. I don't want to stay on them forever. I just need to get through another 2-3 until I can retire. I am sorry that this medication has brought some people much unhappiness.

This is not the place for judgemental people. You do not know me, my pain, my history, my diagnosis. Yet you judge everyone that has something to share. If it was all bad, the medication would not be available. That is why special pain management doctors monitor patients. Don't blame me because your doctor "dropped dead" or perhaps cut you off and now you are pissed at the world.

That is hilarious response .,..80 times stronger then morphine ?
Morphine nearly killed me , these patches of witch I varied between 35 to 100 did nothing to control my pain...
My deliverance came through a completely different manner ,,,,
I had been suffering for many years unable to eat anything and skeleton looking like,,,,
As much as I loved my husband and my mother and I knew I would destroy their hearts if I died ...at the good old age of 40 .....I sought out way out of relentless pain .....
Then I was saved ,....and completely healed , gained weight ....and free of these drugs as well ...

hello everyone. I'm still here. It's been 5 days since I wrote in. I am still applying the 12mcg patch at 8pm and removing it at 3 or 4am when I get up to relieve myself. I just want the sleep so badly! Tonight I will try melatonin instead. I don't want to prolong the withdrawal any longer! It's really just the restless legs, sleeplessness, and depression...my back pain is tolorable. Please post again folks,if you have ideas on what works. Mauigirl...you're still clean?

I have read through all of my posts, and NOWHERE have I said anything against anyone wanting to try and get off of opiates. Tessie, your posts were great up until a few days ago, You were telling people the same thing I was DON'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT MEDICAL HELP. Now all of a sudden you have changed, and yes you did tell someone they would have to get off of the benzos also...Whatever beef you have with me, is nothing..I will continue to tell people to do nothing without their doctors advice, and I will never tell anyone to not quit..I have stated several times that if I could live w/o opiates I would be very happy, but I have given it my best and I can't..But that is me, and no one else. so before you accuse me of saying things I haven't said, go through all of my posts and see where you are wrong,, You should be working with me and not against me, I am here to tell peoplw about responsible use of prescription medication. you are here to let people know they can be prescription free from opiates if they wish,,..I will continue to try and help anyone I can. and I hope you will to, but I will call anyone not just certain people on the BS that WD's can't kill you, that is ALWAYS GETS BETTER, and that prayer works for everyone..Prayer doesn't work for me because God either never existed or he just does't give a crap anymore, and that is just me. Prayer works for a lot of people, but you can't say it works for everyone because that is impossible..Some people are atheists and some are Agnostics like me..You do give a lot of good advice, just be careful with the feel good crap it isn't realality for a lot of us,,No one size fits all, and arsehole are like opinions, everyone has them..

Hey friends, I discovered that the majority of my protracted( after one month) symptoms were from the benzos given along with the opiates for muscle spazms l, toleance induced anxiety and insomnia.guess what? Now I have a hyper sensitive nervous system and a rebound. Plus no pain relief. Do not
let your doc perscribe anti depressants, benzos or the z sleep aids if you want a smooth recovery!

JYou guys are all certainly messed up.Sounds like a bunch of whiny babies who cannt take control of their own bodies. If you want off this stuff take control of your minds first. Meditate. Then execise......walk .Meditate....walk. That stuff in your bodies is juste creating another problem besides the painpain.

Slow down on the tapering off. It takes time. If you are having those symptoms it sounds like withdrawal. Either hang in there a couple more days because it does pass or add a patch and try again. Sometimes leaving it on a extra day or half day will slow the withdrawal. Good luck!

Those are all signs of withdrawl. I was involved in a car accident and went from the 75mg to the 50mg each having 5 patches, then i went to the 25mg and only used one patch, I am now going through withdrawl, but I need to get off of this drug. I can take the withdrawl as it has been 2 days and I am strong willed. I would just like to know, are there any quicker ways to flush this out of your body, ie; drinking alot, eating a lot of food, sweating, exercising, and also, I am looking for some sort of timeline as to how long this withdrawl is going to last. thanks.

I don't know what the big deal is. I just went from a 50mcg/hr patch to nothing with no noticable withdrawal symptoms after 96 hours. Am I really as atypical as these posts make it sound? I was really scared of getting the kind of symptoms I keep reading about, but other than the return of my pain, there's been nothing more than some mild anxiety, which I atribute to worrying so much about withdrawal... BTW, I ran out because a batch of my meds were stolen while on a trip. If you are traveling, keep your stuff locked up!
