Oxycodone 10/325 For Fibromyalgia And Back Pain
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I take this for fibro and back pain (had 2 back surgeries) also have lot of nerve pain. It only takes the edge off. I can’t imagine what it would be like to get some real relief from this pain. I don’t look like anything is wrong with me. My skin and muscles hurt too. At my age of almost 78 I doubt anything else will be done but it is so depressing that I can’t do much at all because of pain.

I totally understand what you are going through. I have issues with severe back pain & muscle spasms since 1991. I had a laminectomy in 97 & now there’s a nerve that keeps getting pinched between the vertebrae’s. In 2003, my pain doctor implanted a pain pump on my lower left side which he fills about every 6 weeks. It helps a little but I still get severe muscle spasms. The only thing that helps me is Soma. What I really want is a disc replacement but insurance won’t pay for it. All I can tell you is to keep telling your pain doctor that you are still in pain. But taking oxy all the time is not good because eventually that will stop working too. Good luck & I hope you get some kind of relief soon.

Do not go to Pain Management. I believe that you are possibly suffering from a condition very common in people who have multiple back operations. It is called Arachnoiditis and most Doctors have never heard of it or they refuse to admit it is a problem because in 99% of cases Doctors have caused the problem in the first place.

I have your history of multiple lower back surgeries and I was thankful diagnosis earlier than most people, the average diagnosis takes 8 years, long after the statute of Limitations to sue your medical providers for malpractice.

I know this sounds awful, why would we be so misled by Doctors?? Who took 8 years to tell me the truth instead of Failed Back Surgery Syndrome, the real problem causing daily, constant, intractable pain refractive to most treatment is Adhesive Arachnoiditis which was caused by the doctors in pain management sticking epidural needles in my spine injecting poison called corticosteroids so they can make $1000 to $4000 in 15 minutes.

I will never be going back to pain management and I'm sorry your dealing with this everyday pain. People not understand that Arachnoiditis is much more common, about 40% of all Failed Back Surgeries....

And what makes it worse? Epidural shots or any kind of invasive procedure in the affected area.

I would read about Arachnoiditis and see if that is something you feel you may discuss with your primary care doctor.

It is managed by medication such as opioids, nerve agents, anti inflammatories, and life changes in nutrition, exercise, pacing or cycling daily activity, and having a strong support system, doctors, friends, neighbors, family, etc.

I will pray you get answers, MRI is the gold standard to diagnose. If you have a recent MRI, ask the doctors to take a closer look at the central canal for evidence of nerve clumping which is frequently mistaken for epidural fibrosis (scar tissue) when it is a mixture of fibrin, granulation, and collagen tissue that is causing the nerve roots to be sticking like glue together.

VERY PAINFUL! But there is a lot of hope. Blessings from WV.

I am a senior and this so called “pain management” will only give me a drug I refuse to take called Gabapentin. I tried it and thought omg what awful side effects from it. I wish I had the Oxys as one in her mid 60’s I never did drugs in my life. Now diagnosed in chronic pain with RA, Scoliosis, Stenosis, as well as fibro I feel I cannot live like this anymore. Doctors DONT CARE about your pain nor do they understand it. But they will give you medications that are WORSE than opiates. DMARDS do not agree with me. I too feel hopeless and can’t do much anymore. For me what’s the use, I’m tired of explaining myself to anyone. Hope you feel better.

Re: VerFree (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I have been to pain management 3-4 times to no avail. The first ones tried to kill me giving me 3 new medications at once. Even the pharmacist didn’t think that was a good idea and it wasn’t! Thankfully I didn’t take all 3 at once. Then the nurse, after looking at my MRI report, said , “It would be a terrible back surgery”, so I tried PT for a while. No help! Went to another Pain Mgmt doctor! Shots, pills....no help. Totally lost faith in pain mgmt! Guess I just have too many things that cause pain so I deal with it best I can. I did have a second back surgery 4 yrs after I went to the first pain mgmt doctor. No help there. Back is a mess. Has hurt worse after surgery. Have had 2 surgeries in 25 yrs., spinal stenosis, severe degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, probably Dercum’s disease too. Take very little pain medicine because I’m scared of it.

I am so very sorry that you are suffering so much.

What type of doctor are you seeing for your pain? You might be better off seeing a pain management specialists, as they are specially trained to help with pain, and they will also know how your age may affect any medications that you may take.

Oxycodone is an opioid that carries the risk of being habit forming, and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
