Should I Take Prescribed Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 5 500 Tb?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

My rheumatologist recently administered cortisone shots in my lumbar region and also prescribed Acetaminophen-Hydrocodone 500-5 tablets along with Tramadol ER 200mg for my ankylosing spondylitis. Can anyone tell me what the Tramadol is for? I start a new job tomorrow and am reluctant to take either of these medications since i don't know how they will affect me. Should i wait until the weekend to start?

I'm the total opposite. ....Vicodin/Hydrocodone, Percocet etc. Give me energy.

Tramadol, a nice word for Non-Narcotic analgesic that makes me violently ill, just like Ultracet (Ultram)

Lumbar cortisone injection. ....start a new job following day? Did you have sedation with intection? I always have sedation with lumbar and cervical injections, but not for my bilateral shoulders and bilateral hips (crappy insurance).

I would suggest trying the HC, provided you've taken it before, if not, give the Tramadol a try, or it may be best to wait until you know how each will affect you.

Good luck at your new job, try not to physically overdue it, since sometimes when the anethestic wears off, it can be noticeable.

The cortisone has given me more relief than previous medications such as indomethacin and enbrel . Wow you were so spot on Re; the hydrocodone acetaminophen. It makes me want to sleep. thanks so much for your response

The Tramadol is also an analgesic.

Learn more Tramadol details here.

And yes, I'd be very reluctant to start them at the same time as starting a new job, just to be on the safe side. I supposed you could try during your off hours, such as at night to see how they affect you, but you should be cautious, especially if you are sensitive to medications.

I am and Tramadol caused me to vomit every time I took it, an effect which never wore off, so I had to stop taking it.

And the Vicodin makes me very tired and dizzy, so I can take it, but I usually restrict it to when I am home or going to bed.

They may not affect you the same way, I'm just trying to give you some examples.

Has the Cortisone helped any?
