I started taking Synthroid 75 mg just about a week ago. Since I started taking it, I notice that the skin on my neck has become bumpy and almost scaly. Its not flaky but its rough. It isn't itching or anything but I have never had skin on my neck like this. Should I be concerned? Is this an allergic reaction? Im not sure what I should do about it. ## Hi Kristin, Do you think it may be due to some sort of sensitivity to heat (similar to heat hives)? Just wondering because that is actually listed as a side effect of this medication. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a682461.html#side-effects It also mentions that you should tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away. So that may have to be your next step if it's remains a deep concern. I hope t...

I am taking .025 mg generic Synthroid to help my depression meds work better. I am supposed to take it on an empty stomach before breakfast but it makes me sick. I am considering taking it on a full stomach after supper. Any ideas on this? thanks david a ## Hi David, I completely understand what you're going through, I've dealt with this issue many times before. If you aren't comfortable with how this medication is making you feel, I would just speak with your doctor about switching to something different. If I can recommend anything else, it would be the essential oil peppermint. I suggest consuming the peppermint with honey or you can add a couple drops to a glass of water. You can also dilute it with coconut oil or olive oil and rub it on your stomach. I find that the aro...

I have been taking levathyroxine for about 2 months now and about a month ago I noticed a little bit of wetness in my underwear that smells like urine. I don't have any symptoms of a vaginal infection and I got tested for a UTI and I don't have that either. It seems like it is getting stronger and not better, anybody know what this is? Should I call my dr? Thanks!

The pill is small, round, and blue. The interconnected triangles look like a pharmaceutical companies logo, but I do not recognize it. Could this be a 137 synthroid type of medication? ## The round blue pill you're describing sounds very similar to Synthroid 137 mcg, but still doesn't seem to quite match the ID of that pill. Abbott Laboratories' round blue pill has the word SYNTHROID on one side and 137 on the other. It also looks like there's a score line on either side of the 137 that aren't connecting. National Drug Code (NDC): 00074-3727 Does anyone else here recognize this pill?

I have been on the same dose of synthroid for the last 14 years 200mcg. I previously had Graves many years ago, had radiation to stop the goiter hence the high dose of the medication. I am levels are checked routinely and the last 2 tests show my thyroids is alittle overactive so my dose was lowered. I had a total hysterectomy 2 years ago. What could have caused the change? ## It might just be due to the changes that have occurred in your body as time has passed. Our bodies do change regularly and sometimes a medication has to be changed, or the dosage adjusted. It's perfectly normal and actually quite amazing that you were doing so well with the same dose for that many years. Learn more Synthroid details here. I had my Thyroid remove due to thyroid cancer and have been taking synthroid for 3 yrs, since then my Blood pressure and cholesterol skyrocketed, before surgery(synthroid) my BP around 120/75 and Cholesterol below 5(around 200), now it's 140/80 or hinger and Cholesterol 6.6. ## Has your doctor definitively related the medication to these bodily changes? There may be other reasons, including after effects of the surgery, or other medical reasons, such as aging, poor date, improper exercise and etc. It's very hard to blame a medication and prove that it has caused conditions that are very common.

Hello, I've been on 150 of Synthroid for about 3 years. Recently I started training for a half marathon and have lost about 25 pounds in the last 7 months. Does weight loss/gain mean dosage change? Last blood test was about 4 months ago and everything checked out normal. Any feedback would be great. Thank you. ## The dosage is based on the levels of thyroid hormones, not your weight, but your doctor should be checking that every 3 to 4 months and make an adjustment to the medication, if necessary. How often has your doctor been running the tests?

I take .25 very low dose of synthroid. I took 3 cardispan and have been losing weight. Is this good or bad? When taken both, what does it do to the body? ## Cardispan contains the active ingredient Levocarnitine to boost metabolism, there are not interactions listed between using it with the Levothyroxine in the Synthroid, but you should check with your doctor to be certain. Using the Cardispan this way is actually not approved in the U.S., so there may be some problems that are not listed in the regular medication databases. Is there anything else I can help with?

Have been diagnosed with hypothyrodism - always tired can fall asleep anywhere, hair loss, brital nails. Dr tried synthroid, levothyroxin, levoxyl - because I have stomach ulcers after I take these for a few days I have terrible stomach pains. It takes about 3 - 4 weeks of donnatal to get my stomach back to normal. Is there anything else I can try. ## Have you tried taking anything else for the stomach issues? You may need to resolve that, so you can keep taking the necessary thyroid medication. It might be necessary to take something the night before you take your medication, or with an hour or two wait, in between. There are various products on the market to treat such issues, but you should take to your doctor to determine which one is best for you to use.

Should I quit taking the levothyroxin because of heart palptations, and waking up thinking I dying. ## Have you consulted your doctor? It is difficult to know whether or not it is the medication that is causing these symptoms, there are many other things that could cause them, as well. Only your doctor will be able to help you discover what's causing the problem and arrive at a proper solution or treatment plan.

Age 45, 180 pounds ## Sorry, this is not available in the US and I cannot find any information on it. THYROID MED ## I am taking a thyroid supplement known as Triiodo-L thyronine SOD and I wanted to know if anyone has used this supplement as well and if so, what effect it had on their energy levels and also if there are any side effects. Thank you! ## Yes, I take this medication now & have been in it for about 2 or 3 years. I have a dead thyroid (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis) & do take Synthroid also. But this medinine that you are asking about has helped me keep my weight off & has given me more energy. I was on a higher dosage which made me shaky & lose too much weight so I asked the Doctor to lower the dosage. I guess I will stay on this forever! ## Thank you for that information, Toni! Best wishes to you!

I've been taking synrhroid 125 for up to 5 years. Lately I've had a lifttle bit of coughing. Due to this I'm taking Tylenol for Coughing. I've been feeling my tongue and lips numb. Is this normal? ## Tylenol for Cough contains Acetaminophen and Dextromethorphan. The normal side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach irritation. Synthroid contains the active ingredient Levothyroxine. Common side effects may include: nausea, dry mouth, weight gain and appetite changes. There are no interactions listed for using them together and no, what you are experiencing is not normal. Have you contacted your doctor about it, yet? It could signify a serious health issue, so you do need to get to the root of the problem.

I noticed my muscle tone has changed and now I get cramps in my body. I am wondering if this is from this drug. ## It is not listed in the common side effects, but that does not mean that it may not affect some people in this manner. I suggest you speak to your doctor to discuss the possibility. ## ARE YOU TAKING CERTAIN STATIN DRUGS LIKE LIPITOR ZOCOR FOR CHOLESTROL IF SO THEY CAN CAUSE CRAMPS MUSCLE WEAKNESS. Trying to find out if im taking levothyroxine -is it not a good thing to eat spinash and soy? does anybody know the answer to my question. ## I am a BSN student and just did a research paper on hypothyroidism. Dont eat soy or take vit. supplements with synthroid, wait 4 hours after taking med. both of these alter the absorption of your med. ## from what i hear lev. has soy i take it no weigt loss moody very ashy skin depress puffy joint pain and feet too soreness in back loss of memory trying to find armour no one knows where to get it? ## Soy products are bad for your medication. They don't let the levothyroxin absorb as much as it can. Try to avoid soy products or wait a few hours before having soy after you take you meds.
