Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 34) (Top voted first)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

As far as your comment about the heart meds? Yes it is true ! As sad as it is ...did it to me! It's all about the mighty dollar ! I am on perks also and seems every time I get a script filled ..always changing..I look it up to make sure they gave me the correct...it's nuts ..and yes they r not all the same .

I feel you pain I was having the same problem as you until I went to Shopko and the carried the brand name of Mallinckrodt which works better than actijunk. I agree with you they are using chalk because the fda is trying to take pain relievers off the market and are telling doctors to tell their patients to go to PT and take Motrin. Gee that helps thanks to the pillbillies for making us all suffer.

I took the Watson 5/325 after two abdominal surgeries in 2014 and it worked very well. I took it in 2016 for spine pain and shoulder pain and it doesn't have any strength at all nor can you get the "feel' of the older versions so they must have changed the formula or maybe they make it in China and God knows what you're getting. Avoid it it's useless. Go to another pharmacy- it's all that Walgreen stocks for pain; so we went to CVS and they have another brand which works fine. .

Hi Lola,

I am so sorry to hear about the depression. I was feeling some of that as well, so I do understand. I think when opiates don't do what they are supposed to, you do go through depression and withdrawal. Once I was given Endocet, instead of what I had been getting, and it made me anxious. I talked to my doctor, and was able to return the rest to her office, and get a new script. I had to pay for the new one, out of pocket but it was worth it. If you have a understanding doctor, maybe that would be an option. There is definitely a difference with these new pills. I put one in my mouth, and by the time I walked a few feet to get water, it had melted in my mouth. They never would have happened with the old pills. If you can, do some research on what to do when going through withdrawal from opiates. One thing I read, was hot baths or showers if you don't don't have a medical condition, that prevents using somewhat hot water. I will keep you in my thoughts Lola.

Sorry for the typos...*when my post says "email", I meant to say "them"..darn auto correct....I actually found this pharmacist that worked at my Walgreens but transfered to a different location...he s so cool n easy to talk to u would never think he was a pharmacist...I told him what's goin on n what could I do n he told me to call 800-walgreens n complain. He also told me he has received a few complaints. He also told me to try Kroger supermarket and see if they carry Watson ....I called one in another town that was open 24 hrs since it was at night n they told me they did use Watson but have whatever brand now....she said she didn't know if all kroger pharmacies have this other brand as well so im gonna call around when it gets closer to my refill day. I read on another blog that this qualitest is no comparison to watson. Someone has to be able to get this medication...its crazy how they just disappeared ....If I find something, u all will b the first to know!

I did it. I wrote a 3,000 word complaint to the FDA. They really encourage that we use our voices so please if you have a moment even to write them a sentence- strength in numbers! accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch

Hi Jennifer - sorry to hear you are having problems with your meds are you still taking endocet? I am still taking the percodan and it is just working okay nothing like the percocet by watson even though this is watson too. The pain relief doesn't seem to last that long but i am not having any real horrible side effects. The difficulty you are having breathing would be something you should bring up to your doctor and I dont think he would make you take a weaker drug but that doesn't sound normal of course I'm not a doctor but that would scare me a little though. I also see a pain management doctor who writes me two months worth of my scripts so I don't have to go there every month. He also doesn't talk and I don't think he even listens half the time. I don't see him again until the middle of June and don't know what we wil do about my meds then. Some days are worse for pain than others and my friend suggested I look into the lowest dose of dilaudid 2 mgs. I don't know about that though have never wanted to go to anything stronger. The one thing I am dealing with still and don't know if anyone else is but I have bad days with feeling so lethargic like I can't even lift my legs or arms. I feel sluggish and depressed. Don't know if anyone else is depressed but I guess it's from still pining for Watson. Every day that I feel awful I think back about if I had a watson I would never be feeling so bad.

Listen....it's the manufacturer. All perc and endocet are the same, but the MANUFACTURER is what's important. I had the same problem...mist pharmacies are now getting Actavis. Go to local grocery stores to see if anyone is ordering from a different Manufacturer. I finally found ALVOGEN and it works almost like Watson. We're being shafted...and used as human guinea pigs and it's just wrong.

Hey I am sorry to notify you but Actavis bought Watson and with Oxycodone they chose the Actavis brand over the Watson so instead of the normal Watson 933 749 and 932 they are Actavis' A349 A332 A333. I would recommend this one (C 230, they are made by Alvogen) as it seems to be the best for pain so far. Also maybe try the Endocets E712 those are okay as well. Best of luck!

I have been on oxycodone/tylenol for 16 yrs for failed back surgery pain. I have noticed the last several months that my medicine may as well be chalk pills (I think they are) Makes me so angry. Being treated like a guinea pig. I've went to different pharmacies to see if that was the problem but it's all crap now. Its just horrible to suffer and find out there is no help. Now it just gives me a headache and upset stomach on top of the back pain.

Yes Lola! It was like over night when it first took place. Unfortunately it has to do with the government and 'caused so much difficulty for myself and so many others. Even still to this day I have horrid problems as a chronic pain sufferer for over a decade.
I'm not sure but I think it's due to an epidemic of abusers and dealers. That messed it up for those with real legit pain.

I had plain/regular (no HCL or ER or w/e type... mine is regular) tab mall 15mg and just got tab acta 15mg oxycodone. I'll see if one is better than the other but really it's just the fillers that matter. On tab mall I would get GI problems... mainly constipation. Just took the tab acta and it seems the same so far. It is really about your needs. I don't need Tylenol or hydro (anything). I wouldn't mind trying oxymorphone, however, I still need to function without being side-affected either (drowsiness, constipation, keeping focused, etc.) Oxycodone/oxycontin to me is better than anything hydro. Why? Is there hydrogen or oxygen in your blood? Plus hydros make me sick like taking 4 Tylenol's/ibu's (like advil) or even aspirin. I've tried white Willow bark, other joint lubrication supplements and nothing seems to get rid of my pain except for oxy's.

I'm feeling exactly the same. Are you taking the hydrocodone or oxycodone? I'm taking the hydrocodones, and these Actavis ones don't work. I'm sitting here in pain so bad that I'm crying.

Hello, I'm taking hydrocodone but not generic - I can only take Vicodin by the manufacturer Abvie. I tried the watson generic hydrocodone and never ever again it made me so ill I can't even describe the feeling I had it was so bad. It has to be the fillers and binders because I take the Vicodin now ever since Watson percocet was no more and I have no side effects and do get some pain relief. However, I do take more of the VIcodin than I did the Watson because it was oxycodone and not hydrocodone and Watson in my opinion was so pure and good that I didn't need to take more than 15 mg. every day. I do remember the withdrawals from percocet were excruciating and lasted for months on end for me. I remember starting this blog over 2 years ago now out of complete disbelief of what was happening to the drug and now hope they don't mess with the Vicodin because there is nothing out there that works and most of it is poison pills to me. I hope everyone is doing okay now and have adjusted to our new normal. If anyone wants to update this blog and let us know what you are taking and how you are managing your pain it would be great to hear from you.

I'm dealing with the same thing. I've been on 10-325 s for 4 yrs and it took 3 different manufacturers to find the one that worked without severe bad effects
Now their changing the dose DUE TO ALL THE BAD PHYSICIANS who DIDN'T listen to their patients who are now ADDICTS. Thank GOD my body hasn't become addicted- yet I'm still tossed into that category. So now I have to start all over to find pain med that I feel doesn't compromise my ability to drive , think or generally live without putting my life at risk. Just tried 7.5-325 mcg AUROBINDO- very bad - I'd blackout like have narcolepsy and wake 5 hrs later ? This mcg comes from INDIA and has had alot of bad reviews. Good luck to everyone. While we go through this made due to the MANUFACTUERS of these drugs and the PHYSICIANS who prescribed them blindly and made many an addict. Us who are not effected suffer with you.

What does it look like cause I think that must be what's happening to me?

I need to know if P 208 round white tablets with a line on the other side is Percocet (Oxycodone 5mg + Tylenol 325mg) please? Also, what do Percocet tablets look like that are imprinted with 44 148? Thanks.

Re: Lola (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

Lola-I know what you are talking about! I had recently changed pharmacy’s from CVS to Walgreens because the manager there was rude and got tired of being ill and then have to find out he didn’t order my meds etc. but when I changed stores mine was switched to what you are taking and I felt the need to call the ER several times with horrible outbreaks of severe muscle pain in my neck and back. It’s bullcr*! To be putting people through this. This med. makes me feel feverish, and hurts my eyes for some reason, on top of raising my blood pressure! Dont know if my blood pressure is going up higher each day because of the severe pain or if it’s the medication making it go up because of what’s in it! I am very sensitive to chemicals and even foods. And for this company to be putting trashy fillers or binders in it, should be pulled from the market immediately. Don’t be surprised that this is done intentional, to do research on what happens to people because they seem to hate anyone who is suffering in pain. I’ve never been able to understand why we who legitimately need help in reducing horrible pain (and trust me-I’ve tried everything non-medicinal to alleviate pain) and it was my Dr whom prescribed me pain meds to help only after I went through everything I could to help myself and nothing helped. It was a constant battle everyday, some days so bad I couldn’t do anything but cry and prayed that God would please just take me! Well, now I’m right back where I was, I cannot function from this pain and the meds make me absolutely sick!
I can’t go on like this! My med says A332 on it so if anyone else knows what’s good, you better inquire what is the name of the Pharm. Co. before you get your prescription filled and do not get it filled if its this kind of poison! Stay away from Actavis! I need to find out what kind of fillers and binders they are putting in their meds. Not only this, but in any thing else they make, because it’s making me SICK!!!
