I absolutely agree. When detoxing from Methadone only cannabis & zannies will help. You'll still feel like your going through a hell you can't escape cause you can't sleep. Sleep will be more probable if you puff the majic dragon & chew on a zannie or 2. Just make sure you stop the zannies ASAP, do not forget that they are addictive & very hard to detox from. Don't change one vice for another ya know. Good luck!!! #PEACE <3

H detox is not that bad compared to detox from methadone. I've been dope sick more times than I can count and I thought I was in hell, until I decided to do a 90-day methadone detox. I only wish I could go back to my worst dope sick that only lasts 5-7 days tops! Even after 90 days if I was not to go on Suboxone, which is my plan, I would still be sick for another say 6-9 MONTHS. And it's a dope sick intensified X 1000. But if it weren't for Xanax and Seroquel, I would not have made it this far. Been on methadone 11 years, 150 mg a day...I am now down to 36 mg. When I get to 20 mg, I get to switch to Suboxone. Methadone did keep me clean all these years, however, now that Suboxone is an option...I would definitely point someone in that direction looking for help.

in my experience with opioid withdrawal, it will help a little bit with the anxiety and stress, and will relax you (a little) obviously. But it is not going to stop the withdrawal dead in its tracks. You'll need a prescription of Suboxone and then wean off of that. Or just do it cold turkey and man up! If you're not in any pain there's no reason to be taking that s***. Take it from me. This advice is from my own personal experience. I am 37 years old and have been clean for 10 years

I have no problem agreeing with even without ever using that method. I've been taking benzos, Valium, Xanax and Ativan, legally for over 25 years now. Because of my tolerance I know that at the least they would have to be IV'ed in order to have anywhere near the affect to aid in detoxing narcotic addiction which I have and have had.

However, benzos are used in the treatment of detoxing narcs in the help they provide for the anxiety, not for quitting the addiction. Personally, I'm a believer in managed addictions. What I mean is I see nothing wrong with taking opiates or opioids for, in my example, chronic back ache due to slipped disks, curvature, etc. It will only progress. Why not lifetime pain management via the use of a pill. You're relieving the pain while your doctor is managing the inevitable addiction.

If one decides to return to the streets, well then there's no such thing as managed addiction for that type of person, but it's worked well for a couple of years for me. I know some day I'll have to go from hydrocodone to oxycontin, but it's pain relief. I don't feel any kind of high from any of the above mentioned drugs due to tolerance. Funny, just give me my marijuana. Never develop a tolerance, never have to turn to doing unsavory things for your supply, and after more than 40 years of smoking, it's the one drug that still gives me euphoria in a way I like. I eat, I listen to music or watch TV, and I sleep.

Benzodiazepines, like Xanax, can help to alleviate SOME of the discomfort & insomnia associated with opioid withdrawal. However, if you're currently taking Xanax with your pain medication, it's not going to be as effective without increasing the dose. Now just a word of caution, withdrawal from benzo's can be far worse & prolonged than withdrawal from an opiate, it's also one of the few withdrawals that can be fatal. So it's a very slippery slope to try & climb doing it that way.. Believe me, you do not want to be dealing with the repercussions of benzo withdrawal fresh after detoxing from opiates! I'd discuss this with your doctor (if that's where you get your medicine from), if you don't have a doctor, I suggest seeking out one that speacilizes in dependencies/substance abuse. He/She will likely have a much more effective & safe protocol for your issue. Good luck!

Of all the prescription drugs mentioned, the worst i have been through was Methadone. Took it for 4 months but by the time i hit 2 months I'd go one day and miss two, that way i wouldn't have to go through the reinstatement process. Then just went cold turkey after the 2 months of doing that. If i had work the next day and couldn't sleep, I'd pop half a 2mg Xanax. (ONLY IF I COULDN'T STAND IT) Even using Xanax for sleep eventually took it's toll and gave me anxiety and a bit of confusion; Cloudy thoughts or memory. As for Suboxone, I've seen someone go through the worst withdrawals for months. Even had a co-worker that was on it for 6 months and said that the whole year after was the worst feeling ever. After going through all of it and hearing other experiences, I personally should've just gone cold turkey on opiates like I had the few times I managed to stop for a bit. I can finally say that I've been clean from opiates and Methadone for almost a year and my quality of life and relationships (friendships, family, and intimate) all improved!

My drug of choice was always oxycodone of course in large quantities. I switched over to the methadone clinic bcuz the cost of my habit was insane! I am now on subutex and it has been the most successful for me. I have tried everything possible to get off opiates (in-patient detox, out-patient detox, court-ordered programs, etc.) I have to say the worst detox I've had was methadone and xanax (I failed to mention I got addicted to xanax as well.) Please use the methadone clinic as ur last resort bcuz the withdrawals are terrible. I would recommend subutex/suboxone treatment to anyone wanting to get off opiates.

Get into a Suboxone, group or private treatment, no urges and easier to titration off suboxone as insurance carrier for network provider. Each psychiatrist is special trained to be allowed to perscribe work with suboxone patience

I was addicted to norco 10/325mg for about 5 years. I chose to get off the norco and tried suboxone was on those for about 2 years which in my opinion that only should be used temporary maybe 2 weeks at most. Then I decided to try and get off the suboxone that is the longest and worst withdrawal I have ever experienced. My withdrawal from suboxone was hell it lasted for about 120 days. So I suggest to never try suboxone to get off opiates your better off to wean off opiates the right way by tapering slowly if not you will experience severe and far worst withdrawls from suboxone than you would with opiates. Just speaking from the experience I had.. hope this helps

I was on Suboxone for 8 years. Which by the way is or was a big mistake. It was the hardest thing I have ever overcome when it comes to that. Worse than methadone or opiates. Anyway I made my mind up and decided to do it cold turkey. The benzodiazepines was the only thing that eased it. I was taking clonazepam which is very similar to Xanax. A benzo. But a piece of advice: when you come off a strong substance such as these pain pills it is a very good idea to be in a controlled environment. Also if u can afford it a dr needs to know. I can say from experience a psychiatrist is the best way to go. Be completely honest with them and you could be surprised what they can do for u. But, again from personnel experiences I know that benzodiazepines with help w opioid withdrawal. Best of luck to you and anyone attempting this. TY

No. Titration is the method. Let's say you're hooked on a narcotic. Xanax will help in the anxiety that quitting will cause, but you're hooked on a totally different drug. Systematically reducing the amount of the drug given is what helps in kicking the habit.

It would be akin to eating as many candy bars as it would take to kick your chocolate ice cream habit. What's the point of trading one addiction for another other than it would feel good for a couple of weeks...maybe.

I have absolutely no desire to give up my Xanax and my doctors see no need to but they explained how it would be done. They being 3 different doctors said the exact same thing. I'm taking 4 per day. They would start out by cutting off a 1/2 mg for about a week or so and then cut it another half mg so you're giving your body time to adjust to taking one less mg. You continue that until you're down to nothing. It's really not an option for me. I'm bipolar and the control of the anger that arises inside of me.

The green s 902 r waaay better. I can take 1 of these they r instant & they go all day. Verses I wld take a blue one & I'd HV to take 3 a day. The regular blues suck compared to the mint green ones. I didn't have a tolerance even when I took the blues & thyd feel a small blip like umm did it work thn I'd HV to take #3 throughout the day. These mint green ones take away my anxiety/anxiety attacks very well. You know their working. I get horrible anxiety & HV PTSD. So the kind I get is important. The greens r 3x better.
