Generic Percocet 10 A333 White Oblong (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

Anyone had stomach / intestinal effects from this particular form? I've been switched from Watson 932 10/325 because of drug store supply.

I'm sorry to disagree but that article clearly states it's only in regards to the OxyContin formula. At the end it even says you won't be able to break, chew, or dissolve them anymore. Pretty sure I can break these new ones in half very easily. What we are taking is NOT time release.

I just don't want people to be misinformed. Oxycodone is the main ingredient in both Percocet and OxyContin. The difference? Percocet is immediate release and OxyContin is time release. That article ONLY talks about the OxyContin version of oxycodone. I am a medical professional. Once again, I'm so sorry that you had to become sick bc of the new generic.

I'd u disagree..that's fine..to each is own. I've done a lot if searching on the internet since finding the first article. If u notice at the end of the first paragraph it says oxycontin (oxycodone). Then the second paragraph of the article talks about the abuse deterant oxycodone. The article talks about actavis trying to get fda approval for the Purdue branded abuse deterant oxycodone. If u research that more, you will see the abuse deterant oxycodone is time released. Yes, of course u can break it in half and take it, but if u were to break it up n insufflate or IV it like people who abuse it do, it wouldnt give u that immediate high...they are trying to keep people from being able to abuse it by adding polymers to the medicine to make it a time release medicine. I promise im not pulling this info out of my ass...all who have been using watson 10/325 medication are now being given the actavis 10/325 abuse deterrent medicine that is extended release. Do a search on actavis abuse deterrent oxycodone and search through the articles. Some go more in depth than others.

The new abuse deterrent formulation with the added ingredients is making everyone sick. Not just the drug abusers, but also the chronic pain sufferers that actually had their lives improved by the Watson brand, that most likely didn't abuse it. Most legitimate doctors won't increase the dosages if their patients show signs of abuse, at which time they'll change the medication to something else.

So again, the people that actually legitimately needed the medication for pain relief have to suffer more because of the illegal use of the product. I was using the Watson formulation for my severe back problems for years with no serious problems. The only thing that I had to do was add a stool softener for constipation, which was the only side effect that I had.

Years ago when my doctor first prescribed the Oxycodone, I said no because of all the negative reports I heard about the use of narcotic pain relievers, but he convinced me that it did work. And with my condition as bad as it is, it would improve my life some, which it did. Otherwise with my 7 herniated disks, two sections bone on bone, stenosis, two failed back surgeries, scar tissue, adhesion's, and arthritis, the Watson brand helped me live somewhat of a normal life.

More surgery would be a waste of time since it will not end the chronic pain, steroids don't work, but the Watson brand did help.
I never raised my dosage from the beginning and have actually decreased it because it worked so well. I tried the new formulation by Actavis for about a month. My pain level increased and the side effects were horrible. I'm still trying to recover from the damage it has caused to my body. It would have been nice to be warned ahead of time about the Watson brand being discontinued instead of having everyone go through this hell from the new Actavis formulation.

I searched all over my area for the Watson brand and no one carries it anymore. Most likely because the Actavis brand is cheaper, and with the DEA crackdown on drug abuse, it has created a mess for the pharmacists to deal with. I feel sorry for those that might have been at higher doses that now have no way to gradually withdraw from the medication now. THAT'S WRONG! I returned my leftover prescription of the Actavis 10/325 Oxycodone to my doctor and she threw it in the garbage where it belongs. She also said that there were other patients experiencing the same thing. The new prescriptions she writes for me now say NO ACTAVIS products!
Now I am back at the beginning searching for other alternative chronic pain treatments.

I did some online research about Actavis with their past legal suits and recalls. After all the complaints and comments I have been reading, it looks like they'll be getting hit with another one soon! I've also reported it to the FDA, which everyone else should also do too!
Maybe they can stop this new Actavis formulation from doing anymore harm to the people that weren't the drug abusers.

Hi tom....I completely agree. ...try to get endocet. It has been the ONLY generic Percocet that has helped me with pain relief ever since going off the Watson's. Give your body a few days to adjust to the changes once you try the endocet. Its hard to find. I got lucky and called a Walgreens pharmacy where the pharmacist knew me and just so happens, he had endocet. Every other Walgreens didn't have endocet and didn't know there was another walgreens pharmacy in town that did. The part that suxs is you will have to go to each pharmacy with ur script to see if they stock endocet, otherwise, if you call, they will most likely liedue to safety reasons. What have you been taking for pain relief since throwing away the Actavis?

Hi Jennifer, I had to order the Endocet through Walgreen's. They said it could take 3 to 5 days to arrive. In the meantime, I have some Oxycontin 10 OP that I took occasionally at night a while back to help sleep. Those also had their formulation changed, and that's why I still have some of those left. That's another one my doctor no longer prescribes for me because of the side effects. Otherwise I haven't been taking anything. It's not worth the added pain on top of the pain I already live with to take the Actavis A333. I'm really upset about why we have to suffer more, and have something altered that worked great for us, because of drug addicts. So now I'm basically back to where I don't do much but exist and search for pain relief. Why doesn't the DEA and ATF crackdown on other addictions and include putting some inactive ingredients in all of the alcohol products that will deter alcoholism? Which is basically the same term as alcohol addicts. Even if it also makes the occasional drinkers get sick and suffer from the horrible side effects! Plus, why isn't the DEA or ATF visiting all of the bars and issuing huge fines to the bartenders when they over-serve their patron's? Just like they are doing to the pharmacists now for potentially selling to drug addicts? I wonder what they would do if cancer patients had a drug that was working great for fighting off their cancer, and then have it removed and reformulated to where it no longer works for them because the drug addicts ruined it? Actually I believe there are cancer patients now that are suffering even more because the Watson formulation was discontinued. They are also getting sicker from the Actavis formulation on top of the chemo and radiation treatment pain. THAT'S WRONG! Why do the real legitimate pain sufferers have to suffer even more now because of street drug addicts? Why are we being punished because of their stupid actions? This system we live in has really become backwards with their thinking. Just look at how bad the struggling hard working families have it trying to make ends meet while the money-drunks, or money addicts, keep altering things to where they get all the money to support their huge money addictions while making everyone else suffer. Sorry for the long response. I'm a little more than just upset today because I had to miss my grand-daughters grand-parents visit day at her school because of this Actavis nightmare.

Jessicalady.....I gotta tell ya.....im honestly wondering if ur an actavis rep and ill tell ya why....1) I only came across this website, this thread as well as a few others on this website because I was trying to do some research about where i could find Watson's generic Percocet since my Walgreens stopped stocking them and why they stopped stocking them since the Actavis wasn't giving me ANY pain relief AND I was sick to my stomach nonstop. ...had the Actavis given ANY pain relief AND wasn't making me bent over in pain, I would have NEVER went on the internet and came across this site or this thread....so if theyre working for you so well, how did you just so happen to stumble across this website/Actavis sucks thread? 2) YOU are the ONLY person among many threads on this website that has said ANYTHING positive about the Actavis generic Percocet. ...the ONLY person even among MANY other websites, many other comments on articles from newspapers, press releases, drug company web articles, pharmaceutical news updates, etc etc etc....I do not exaggerate when I say u are the ONLY one who has had a good word to say about it......so why are you on a thread that is titled only "generic Percocet 10 A333 oblong." To come "across" this thread, u have to have been searching the internet about the Actavis generic Percocet. .....then that leads me to wonder again. ..why would you be searching the internet for info about the Actavis? 3) you talked about using generic Percocets made by all different companies and they all have worked for you.....if whatever your using or everything you get works, why r u on the internet doing a search about generic Percocet? The only way you could've come up on this site would b for u to have been doing a search using a word/words that have something to do with our pain meds. If they were working so well for me, I wouldn't be blowing time on the internet reading topics related to such.......4) all of us have been Watson users consistently because they worked, not good. ...they worked incredibly well and we stuck with them because there wasn't anything else in the same ballpark that would do as good of a job as the Watson's did with pain relief. None of us would or could go from one generic brand to another. If u did and they worked, then you never stayed on the same brand of meds for a consistent period of time......most of all....among all my suspicions. ..u say they work great...which I haven't heard yet n ur on a thread about Actavis not working. It just doesnt make sense! I even came across a pharmacist in my town who's wife is on pain meds and they dont help her at all n he even told me he gets alot of inquiries about Actavis due to people being ill and no pain relief. I have been in contact with Actavis and the 2 reps I spoke with both told me they have been getting an enormous amount of complaints about the drug......but they work for u? ?

Hi Kelly,

I had to switch to Endocet after the terrible side effects I was receiving from the Actavis brand. I was taking the Watson 10/325 brand for quite a while and had no problems. Actavis bought out Watson and changed the formulation. They also added some drug abuse deterrent to keep the street junkies from taking it. I think that is what is making everyone sick and getting the terrible side effects. All I can say about that one is, find me a junkie that has a great spine and I'll switch with him. He can have my spine that has 7 herniated disks, sections where it is bone on bone, stenosis, and he can have all the drugs that goes with it. Why do the pain sufferers have to suffer more because of street junkies? Great system we live in! Enough on that rant! I went and did research on a lot of the other drug manufacturers and only found Endocet that worked without the nasty side effects. Most pharmacies don't carry that brand so they have to be ordered. Or the pharmacies just want to push the other garbage since they probably get it cheaper. Another thing you might want to look into is the pain patch, starting at a low dose. I started using the pain patches a while back and have cut down a lot on the pills.
Basically the pills are only used for breakthrough pain now. That is as long as the pain patches work the same each time. Which they have been varying for me. Sometimes they work great and other times not so well.

Hope some of this helps!

Sassy, Yes Watson bought out Actavis but are now going by Actavis name & pharmacies here in FL are saying they carry the Watson's when in fact they are carrying the A333 pill! Its horrible. From what I understand the Watson 932 pill will No longer be made, the A333 has been substituted for that med. Pharmacist told me the A333 pill is a much cheaper med for Pharmacies to order, Watson / now Actavis is being supplied to most all Pharmacies now as that is what they are being supplied with plus its much cheaper for them. Its really sad. .I was not aware you could request Pharmacy to order another brand, My Pharmacy told me they have No Control over what Brand they receive, not sure that is true, but that is what I was told. I hope we are able to have them order a different brand.

I too just got this brand after i've been getting the Watson brand for the last 1 1/2 yrs. it has NO effect on my pain and is also giving me stomach problems & diareah. This must be a new mfg co for percocet as I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet as far as images go. With as much is happening politically I am scepticle to ry an "all of a sudden new pill" especially if it is cheaper to make. The way I see it.. there may be a reason we are all getting ill from this new generic brand of perccet! And I don't trust it at all! Look at how many people are complaining only on this sight. Which makes me believe they obviously had the same complaints when the med was in the testing phase! It really sucks having to depend on these stupid meds for pain!

The article is about Actavis attempting to get FDA approval to sell Purdue brand oxycontin now that Purdue's patent has expired. The only way to get approval is if the generic is tamper resistant since original formula oxycontin has been banned in the US. oxycontin is time-released oxycodone without acetaminophen. Percocet is immediate release oxycodone with acetaminophen. 10mg oxycodone 325mg acetaminophen 10/325. Actavis is NOT selling percocet as time released. I agree the percocet has its issues & the formula may have been changed recently given the complaints since Actavis merged with Watson BUT this article has nothing to do with changing percocet's formula. Its talking about a tamper resistant version of oxycontin. Two completely different animals. Yes they are oxycodone as the main ingredient but you're misinterpreting the article. You're misinforming a lot of people with repeatedly posting this information. If you're saying oxycodone has been removed from percocet & replaced by polymers I think that's probably off base too.

I am just saying there is a problem with the new Actavis/Watson A333 med, too many problems with this one pill, too many people having bad side effects. Yes the article speaks of oxycotin, a lot of us could of taken wrong way since oxycodone was mentioned, people are afraid since they became ill on the A333 pill version of pain med, this is a relatively new formula given to us, being distributed, newer company or so we all thought but its Watson that bought Actavis, just going by Actavis name, still bottom line is - people have gotten ill with this new formula and we want to know whats so different about it, why are we getting ill. Its does not agree with a lot of people and I am sure there are many more of us that have not posted, or have access to the internet. I did not feel any Pain Relief at all, it did not even come close to the other Brands I have taken, so Yes I do question what is in this A333 so cld pain med. I for one have my doubts about the strength of the oxycodone in this med, maybe I am off base, but this is my opinion, the A333 provided not even the smallest bit of relief for me or others, when I take my regular brand or even if pharmacy has another brand other then the Actavis, when I take my prescribed dose, I can feel relief in about 15 minutes, the oxycodone provides that, this CHeap generic Version did not do that except make me sick as heck after taking just one. People can read the article and assume what they will, It is more about oxycotin, but there is NO denying there is something off base with Actavis/Watson version of this particular pill & why is this new version all the sudden being distributed?? Again just my opinion, but I do believe we all will hear more about this A333 pill. I don't think people are being totally misinformed, people can read them selves & will take article for what it is. There is clearly not a lot of info about this new version of so called pain med either. Again all just my opinion.

hey all... I first found this article...with that I searched further and found actavis is using the abuse deterant formula on oxycodone...I called the company yesterday and received a call from them today. the person I spoke with told me they have been receiving a lot of complaints referring to this medication. I asked them if they distribute the Watson brand at all anywhere and they said no..i asked why and she told me it was a business decision the company made when they combined. they had to use one or the other and they chose the actavis. I asked her what is going to come of all the complaints. She told me it goes to the FDA.. I find this rather odd...its like the company is ratting themselves out....Either way, my next call will be to the fda. I also asked her if enough complaints were received, would the company revert back to distributing the Watson formula. I told her the company made a huge mistake in choosing to discontinue the distribution of the Watson formula in favor of this actavis formula and I wouldn't be surprised if a legal suit comes of it due to the hundreds of blogs and internet sites with people complaining how this medication is making them ill and is providing absolutely no pain relief. she told me she wouldn't be surprised either. I also asked her if the abuse deterant formula being used on their generic percocets that I keep reading about their company using on hydrocodone. Ironically, she told me she is aware of them using it with Norco (which I haven't seen anything on the internet about this), but as far as this medication or the oxycotin generic, a different department would have to call me back. They called me a bit ago when I was in class so when I have some quiet time today, I will call them and see whats up. I also asked her about the formula make up of the actavis and Watson compared to the brand Percocet active ingredients. as far as the variance percentage. You know when they talk about how close is the generic to the brand name and how generics could have a difference of I think it was 20% less than or more than the brand. I said I was curious since Watson worked so well and this actavis doesn't work at all. I was told to ask the department that was calling me back. so when I know the answers to these things, I will update u all. Just an interesting FYI.... In my researching this abuse deterant formula, I came across a study that was done on it. The study used 2500 people who were entering a drug rehab who's drug of choice was prescription pain meds...even though they used H as well. The study found that when using the abuse deterant medication, these people either found a way to bypass the deterant or they went and used H since it was cheaper and easier to get. with the pain medication being abuse deterant, the use of H was higher.. The study mentioned they didn't foresee the use of H rising and that wasn't the intention. They rather have pain medication being abused than having the rise in H use since H will do more harm to an individual than pain meds as well as the rise in H use leads to a rise in other areas such as crime and death much quicker. It ended saying something like it has to rethink their approach on lowering the use of pain medication abuse. So basically we, the people who legitimately need pain medication to function as close as possible to normal, and don't abuse it, are suffering due to their efforts to stop other people from abusing it, even though their approach is creating a whole other problem that is worse than the one there was previous to the deterant. Seriously, this is complete bs and such a failure from such a large corporation!

Jeez, I am seriously upset that so many people are having a hard time with this new generic. I feel bad because it works just like the watson for me. I'm wondering if anyone else is having a good experience as well? Or am I a minority?

Glad to hear its working for u...no long term pain patient wishes their pain on anyone. I dont know how for the life of me the activus is working for u. I know it isn't as strong as the Watson's not just from experience. .but when I called the company itself, one of the people in the chain of departments they transferred me to told me they have been receiving tons of calls with the same kind of complaints n when I asked the percentage of active ingredient in the actavis compared to the Watson's n the rep told me she is aware of the Watson's being stronger but by how much she didnt know percentage to compare the two to eachother and she was going to have another department call me who would have that info. They've called n left messages but I haven't called back yet. Makes me wonder if thats why the company chose to use the activus formulation over the Watson formula. ..with all the people abusing pain meds, maybe they thought discontinuing the stronger formula would put them in a better view with the fda n all the studies on pain med abuse....they are also using a new abuse deterrent formula in their oxycodone which makes a big difference in the way the body absorbs and metabolizes the medication. Im not sensitive to medications at all...but this activus junk sure put some bad reactions on my body on top of providing no pain relief. You should knock on wood n be happy its doing what u need it to with no bad reactions!
