Doctors Who Will Prescribe Pain Medication In Rhode Island (Page 5)

I am looking for an MD or Pain clinic that will prescribe pain medication in Rhode Island. I have 4 herniated discs, nerve damage in my leg, severe migraines. My former Md said that he could not longer prescribe due to the regulations, I dont want to have to move, that would be crazy to have to go through that, but I also do not want to continue living night and day in Agony, with not one Md that has any compassion, it seems all they care about is to look out for themselves, I only take 2 pain medications that I believe are both in class 1, but when you talk to a doctor about pain, they tell you to take tylenol. I am tired of theses doctors just caring about themselves, if you have a patient like myself, that has the MRI's and Catscans to show what my pain level is, they should be a little more compassionate. I am not able to have surgery at this time, not until my daughter is driving and able to get out on her own, grocery store, ect. I would really appreciate any advise, I sleep with a heat pad every night on my back, but when I go to get up, the pain is unbearable.

I have been on opioids since I was 23 years old and I am now 27. At first I was prescribed liquid oxycodone for a tonsillectomy when I was 20. Then when my grandfather passed from cancer I Inherited his liquid morphine. My next dance with opioids was when I was 23 and had impacted wisdom teeth. My insurance made it difficult for me to get the extraction and I lived in pain for 3 months before I could have the surgery. I began self medicating with perscription opioids because nobody would prescribe me anything other than Tylenol. Despite my bodily autonomy granted within the 14th amendment (which substantiated the RoeV. Wade decision) so for legitimate pain I was treated like an addict long before I had any addiction problems. And rather than consume high doses of over the counter analgesics which is horribly toxic for your liver, idecided to pay out of pocket for black market opioid prescriptions. At first I was getting percocette and taking as little as I could. But the impacted wisdom teeth were extremeny painful so eventually I started using dilaudid.i finally had the surgery and was able to ween myself off of the opioids with suboxone, however suboxone has exacerbated my situation. It didn't help my withdrawals and didn't ease the physical symptoms and also increased my anxiety and made it hard to sleep for the first month or so. So I went on and off buprenorphine for a while.

I have always struggled with back, beck shoulder pain and headaches. As well as insomnia and ADHD. However growing up in poverty I have always had sub standard medical care. So I often find it more efficient to medicate my illnesses. Whether they be physical, emotional or physiological ailments. Pain, anxiety and depression my financial- socio-economic status and prideful upbringing have made asking for help a very cumbersome thing for me to undertake. So self medication was the way I went about treating my disorders.
So now I currently am taking methadone and I take it acknowledging full well that I am addicted to opioids. Any chronic pain Patient that had taken opioids long enough will develop a physical dependency. I have been in a few car accidents as well and for over 6 years as an early adolescent/ teenager I worked at a hardware store unloading cargo such as skids of paint, concrete, mortar, blacktop patch, top soil mulch, sand, gravel, Not to mention many other heavy merchandise. So from the age of 15 to the age of 22 I put my body through lots of physical abuse and still to this day I find employment as a painter/ landscaper so I tend to abuse my body to make my living which does increase the amount of chronic pain I experience.

I found that suboxone didn't help my chronic pain deep within my neck, shoulders and spinal column. So after two attempts at suboxone maitenence I decided to try Methadone Maitenence. Despite the restrictive protocols that treat patients as if they are criminals and less then human. Ultimately violating my rights to privacy, And human rights to dignity.
So I've been taking methadone mostly to combat chronic pain under the guise that it is a maitenence drug for my addiction. I could go with suboxone for my maitenence however bupernorphine doesn't have anywhere near the same analgesic affects. Only to people with no tolerance on micro doses.

Ck,
Dr.Lowney is amazing. I like him so much, I switched him to my PCP. Since I have been 18 he is my 3rd PCP. (Since I am only 29 that's not bad, if I was 46, that would be saying a lot! ) I don't doctor hop, until they almost kill me.

I already wrote you a long answer, that hopefully they haven't posted because of the weekend. I explained about him and his office. But I also told you to literally make a list of questions for me, and I will be more than happy to answer them all.

Ck,

What would you like to know about Dr. Timothy Lowney? Literally make me a list of questions. I can tell you that he is so amazing that I changed and made him my Primary Care Doctor. I live on the Lincoln / Cumberland / Pawtucket line, and it is a 15 minute leisure drive to his office on the Seekonk line, near Benny's on Central Av.

His office also has a Physical Therapist. He is also an Alternative Medicine Doctor. He adjusts me when I "tweak" my back, but not like a Chiropractor. People find it hard to believe we live with chronic pain, but can always "tweak" it much worse, even with a sneeze. So he adjusts, believes in medical marijuana, and whatever else will help with our quality of life. (I tried to smoke after 21 years, worked great for my muscles and anxiety until my 18 year old son came home. I was a former pothead and I have been drilling into his head about drinking and drugs all his life.) I told Dr. Lowney I tried it, the story, and to look for it in my urine.

I explained how what I was on wasn't working like it was at the beginning, and he upped it. He actually cares. If I can't make a 4 week follow up, his staff actually care enough to ask me if I will have enough medication for the date I pick to come in. I had the wrong appointment time, my fault, and showed up 45 minutes late. They were unsure if he would see me. He did.

Write up your questions, I will answer them all.

Lee,

If you are able to see Dr. Timothy Lowney Jr. do it! Read below on how to contact him. He is also an OA Dr. It is amazing how he can gently move my limbs and have me not only feeling better when I leave, but standing up straight, when I walked in hunched over.

He is also a believer in medical marijuana. You will be tested like everywhere, and I don't advise you to smoke a big fatty while you wait to see him.

The man is warm, caring and listens. I hit the jackpot when I found him. Good Luck

Hi. Can u tell me more about Dr. timothy? I'm a RI resident although I recently moved back so my license is out of state & my passport is based out of a home I own in MA. I've been seeing a new doctor who so far seems to be HELPING so I definitely am NOT looking to "feel high". I just need to be able to function through a day so I can meet my family's needs and mine. Due to my back I took a corporate "job" for the sole purpose of getting my family & I insurance at less than the 30k i had been paying as Alan SBO.... These people who abuse hurt the people who r really in pain!!! I NEED HELD!!! Advice? Thoughts?

Hello, I am looking at your previous messages to someone else. I have recently moved to Rhode Island from Connecticut. I've been in pain management for nine years, I've been in two bad car accidents and was former competitive gymnast. I feel with excruciating pain regularly and I unable to find a physician that will continue my medication in Rhode Island. It's hard for me to get through daily activities and keep up with my kids. Would you be able to help me? Thank you so much for your time.

WORST CASE SCENARIO - If you end up in the ER in withdrawals, and you can't get a script because you have no new doctor lined up OR you need to wait for your appointment, THIS HAPPENED TO ME: The ER tricked me into signing myself into the "Cracker Jack Factory" because I said if I didn't have my meds, and have to withdrawal, to shoot me. I spent 7 days with a bunch of real drug addicts, who say they like to check in in the winter for a warm place to sleep, or if they can't afford drugs on the street. They cut my oxy in half, but no withdrawals. They got me in with an awesome doctor and wrote me a month prescription when I was discharged. For the week, I colored, sang Karokee, read, played board games, and pretty much just hung out. Worst Case Scenario!

Plenty of doctors will. Dr. Tromanhauser in Boston is THE BEST! IF you need RI, go to RI Hospital.

Dr. Timothy Lowney Jr. Central St. Seekonk MA. 1-508-761-6785. His office is right off the RI Line, within 15 minutes of Lincoln, Cumberland, Pawtucket, less than 10 of the Attleboro's. He is amazing!!! Affiliated with Norwood Hospital. He has another location also. Staff is awesome too. I have had 7 spinal surgeries and was on oxycontin 80mg x3, 10mg x3, flexeril, xanax, etc. When I started to see him almost 3 years ago.

He weeds out those who are chasing a high, and is the most compassionate doctor to those who are in need of chronic pain relief.

I need to a doctor who will continue to prescribe me my oxycodone. I've been dealing with degenerative discs. Went along with the doctors suggestion of back surgery and I'm still in severe pain. I have rods and screws in my spine. Inj's. absolutely don't work for me and my doctor wants me to see a pain management doctor and they all do inj's. At this point my doctor is cutting me off, each week I get less oxycodone and my days of pain are growing.

Try this thing called Kratom. A friend of mine actually was abusing Vicodin & used this to get off of them... I need pain management yet can't get it. It's NOT easy or even comfortable but the Kratom pills have helped me. Mind u its nearly 1:11 pm & I have to be up at 5, haven't slept & am in pain with 7 lidocaine patches on..... not a pro but totally understand what u must be going thru. Wish I had more info but am in the same situation as u. Say 4-5 years ago my friend got me the Kratom so I could wean off the Vicodin & I did it and was OK.... at this point I would just love to only take a vitamin daily!! My doctor wanted me to be on medical marijuana but I don't/can't go about my day "high"...

Hi. Sorry to hear of your situation. I just saw my doctor last Thursday & was told he just received new regulations from the fda(?) that day limiting what he could prescribe me. He said that for my next refill the MAXIMUM I could get was 20 pills, so say 1 weeks worth for me. I can't be going to the doctors every week!! My life IS ruled by pain. He said I could go to a pain clinic where they would give me something stronger (I do NOT want anything stronger!!!) or he said I should get my medicinal marijuana license. I do NOT want to go to work high though..... I'm stuck & like u am now trying to figure it out. As I said I do NOT want anything stronger & im open to medical marijuana but do NOT want to be high everyday.... I'm miserable and since my last appointment I'm now very scared & worried as to how life will be as pain rules my life. I wish I had better information to give to you.... good luck! If you find anything/anyone please post here. I also got a referral to a "witch" doctor chiropractor who supposedly works miracles so
I'm now trying to get in with her...... time will tell. I have major problems between L5&S1. Herniated & bulging discs & also other bones that I was told were fractured and never healed properly. I also have fibromyalgia..... ugh. Life!!! I'm not even 40 & im besides myself... best of luck to u
