Lortab Watson Blue Vs Lortab M363 (Top voted first)

Updated

My friend and I are both prescribed Lortab APAP10/500's. I get the Watson 540 blue pills and he gets the M363 white pills. I have taken the white ones before, but for some reason, it did not help me as much as the Watsons. I don't understand this. Besides the manufacturer, is there any real difference between the two different kinds of pills?

Besides the difference in manufacturers, there may be a significant difference in the inactive ingredients in each pill.

Inactive ingredients found in M363 are:
crospovidone
magnesium stearate
microcrystalline cellulose
povidone
corn starch
silicon dioxide
stearic acid

Each Watson 540 tablet contains the following inactive ingredients:
croscarmellose sodium
crospovidone
magnesium stearate
microcrystalline cellulose
povidone
starch
stearic acid
FD&C Blue #2 Aluminum Lake

As you can see there is a difference in what they put into the pills, and that alone can significantly effect how the drug is absorbed into your system; including how effective it may be for you compared to someone else who might react differently to a few changes in ingredients.

I hope this info helps!

Been there ..... Amber never ever gives any indication of street use drugs . Do you always jump to such conclusions ? I'm just glad you're not a Doctor .

Connie I agree with you about Been there, Amber never even mentioned street drugs, only how to get help without insurance. Amber I have been there & most pain management doctors ask $250 to 500 a visit. Go to a pain clinic, they will take cash runs about $125 plus your prescription cost. I have C5 thru C7 compression. Some of my days sound like yours. Wish you well.

I have tried to explain this to ppl for years, the med in the tablets have to be the same, but each company uses different ingredients for "binders", and each persons system re-acts differently for this reason. As a former Pharmacy Tech, (Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, retired me) it never bothered me when a client asked for a specific generic, b/c I knew from my own experiences, what worked for me. But, even Pharmacists will argue the point to death with a client.

maybe if you read what someone posted before thinking the worst of them. All Amber wrote was she has no insurance and how can she get insurance or help from a doctor without a job and shes in a lot of pain not that she wants illegal drugs or street drugs and help she never said anything of the kind. To Amber you can go to any doctor without insurance and pain meds are not that expensive there is free clincs and there is also insurance company's you can pay for but i know everything is expensive. Check around there is always someplace that can hlep.

Christina, They is a difference with the two type of pills. Watson always works the best. Yes the pharmacy will argue saying the is no difference, bull. Even when people sell these on the street Watson always goes for a higher price. I know name brands in alot of medications work a little better than generic.

Went in and checked the inactive ingredient in Watson (crocscarmellose) and found that it makes the pill dissolve better and faster, maybe that is why they say it gets you there better and as I have taken both Watson works better on me.

You should consider the 10/325. There is absolutely no use for that amount of acetominophen in the combination hydrocodone products.

It does depend on the brand of generic because although they say it is supposed to be the same it is not always because of the fillers and binders they put in the pill. I have had some generics that worked better than others and some that didn't work at all . So there are some generics that work better than others.

First of all " been there" if you had been you would know that there is no such pill as 5/250's. it's 5/325 , 500, 650 and higher. But the main thing that if you've been there, then you would know how to spell lortab not loratab. And who in their right mind would pay 20.00 for one, 5 mg pill. That's crazy. No one does that. I don't think you've really been there like u say u have. I'm just saying

Have you checked with your local Health Department or Mental Health Department? They may be able to direct you to a free clinic or an income based clinic.

I was feeling the same way with added allergic reactions as well. I know that a company called Actavis bought them out. You can't even go to the Watson Pharmaceuticals website anymore. It automatically directs you to the Actavis website, which provides NO information on any change in ingredients or manufacturing process. This is going to affect a LOT of people out there, as I know many people that won't take anything but Watson brand. As for me, I really can't take anything but Watson because I'm seriously allergic to something in the other brands. This goes for other narcotic medicines too besides Hydrocodone. It has to be Watson or I get the allergic reaction.

So does anyone actually like the real Lortab(the pink ones) or is there another non generic out there that I don't know about? The white Watson ones really do suck and I have had alot more pain the last four days. Also does anyone have another pill to suggest that I try because since things are changing at the end of the year I want to get on one that the tylenol amount is not going to change.Financially I can't afford back surgery right now plus I'm scared that I may end up worse off because I have heard very few success stories and many horror stories. Please help and thank you!

The company Watson has been sold and the change from blue to white is one of many changes to come in the near future.I had to switch meds because I also took the blue ones for years but when I took the white ones I had stomach cramp and bloating and kept a headache for the whole month and I broke out from them.If you have any problems with the "new" medicine discuss it with your dr. the possibility of switching to something else. And yes the only difference in them besides color is binders/fillers but apparently I was allergic. Also they didn't help my pain any more.I believe that the government is slowly changing pills to where they don't fill as effective to try to keep so many people from getting addicted to them. They are changing other meds like the Oxycontin to where people that abuse the medicine is not able to break it down to use it in another way to "get high".I guess this is good in some ways but there are people out there with legitimate pain that take there meds for that purpose only and when the drug companies get thru with all there changes we will all be lucky to even manage our pain!!!!

To everyone out there who thinks that one is different than the other it's true. They break down differently in your system. But first of all, Watson is not a name brand. It's a generic just like all the others that don't say the specific name of the pill you're taking. The ones that are marked ip or m or Watson or V. Those are all generic companies. If you want the name brand, ask for it. And I guarantee they'll work better than any of those. You pay quite a bit more, that's why they just assume we want generics. For example, if u are prescribed lortab 10/500. The name brand pill will say lortab 10/500 right on it. All the others are generic. Plain and simple. As far as those go in my case, the Watson green 10/650 and the Watson 10/325 yellows work good for me as the blue Watson 10/500 don't do the same thing. I know hydrocodone is hydrocodone, but it is definitely the fillers and binders what make the difference. It's weird I know, but just the way it is. I hate the blue Watson and love the green ones and other people are the exact opposite.

He probably has been there and he's the one he's referring to that gets ripped off ( 20.00 a pill) and getting fake ones (hence him naming something that doesn't exist) what a moron. Not everyone is as dumb as you. Hell I think if my life depended on selling a 5mg pill for $20 I'd be a dead man.

Watson changed their formula for Lortab 10/500. They aren't blue anymore, they are now white with the same 540 on them. They also don't work as well as the blue ones. I just picked up my refill today with the new formula and it's as if I didn't even take it. You are correct though, the Watson blue worked the best. I've tried several different mfg's and Watson by far was the best. Mallin.... is the worst. Qualitest, close 2nd from the bottom.

Got the white Watson 540 today. Horrible! I am allergic to one of the binders/fillers in the Mallinkcroft, Vintage, & Amneal brands and it states in my pharmacy record that I can only take the Watson brand. Well, the white Watson 540 is giving me a similar, but worse, reaction as the other brands. The other brands cause the muscles in my left leg/buttock and left side of my face to cramp up and get extremely achy to the point of being in extreme pain. Well, today the new Watson 540 caused this reaction with the added enjoyment of extreme nausea, closing of my throat, and pain and weakness in my left wrist and hand. I could not make a fist or hold anything in my left hand today. Fortunately, I have a few of the blues left, but I don't know what I'm going to do. I've been researching the fillers all day. The only thing that is different from the other brands and the old blue Watson 540s is silicon dioxide. But this is found in loads of other medicines and vitamins, so how can this be? Also, why did experience extreme nausea to the point of nearly vomiting? This scared the hell out of me today. I have no idea what I'm going to do for pain relief now.
