Re: w john (# 80) Expand Referenced Message

First thing I would do would be to check the pharmacies in your area that aren’t corporate like CVS, Walgreens, etc, and actually go in and meet them with your insurance cards, tell them your problem and see if they can order from a different manufacturer. I did that two years ago and left CVS/Target with no regrets. I’m having problems now in that many companies aren’t making my lorazepam any longer, but they can order from at least more than the one company so I have an option.

Amen. Walgreens has treated me like a junkie...I hope they are in physical pain someday....no more watsons from this pharmacy...and they told me walgreens arent carrying them anymore...the others they carry are worthless.

That makes perfect sense that the amount taken and at what time of day makes a big difference.

See someone like yourself that took the initiative to analyze what the safest way would be to take the pain killer and benzo should be allowed to take them. In other words you are a very responsible patient.

You shouldn't be lumped together with someone just haphazardly swallowing a pill everyday.
Thank you for pointing that out to me.

I agree, the Mallinkro generic is what Walgreens and cvs use in my area. I thought it was me. It doesn't help with pain unless I take two and that barely works. It also depresses me, which Watson hydrocodone never did.

Re: Jersey (# 126) Expand Referenced Message

The 300 milligram denotes how much acetaminophen is in the pill and also indicates that the pill is a NAME BRAND--not a generic. 325 denotes it is a generic. They do not even manufacture a "name brand only" Norco in the 7.5 or 5 milligram size. There are NO cdc numbers to indicate they are even manufactured. According to Aetna Insurance and my pharmacist 5 milligram or 7.5 milligram Norco is not even manufactured at all.

Would switching pharmacies from Walgreen's to CVS be a mistake? Walgreen's is getting too rude and not so friendly. Where I live its easy to find a pharmacy with yellow hydrocodone. I checked out CVS and they were using Sun Pharmaceuticals. Sometimes Mallinckrodt. If you have a Premier Pharmacy (Rite Aide) in South Texas they order the yellow.

You can file a complaint with the FDA online. They will investigate and evaluate it for efficacy. First contact Walgreens or your Pharmacy and tell them the problem, then the drug manufacturer, then the FDA.

Here is a copy of letter I sent to amneal:

Dear Amneal pharmaceutical,

I have been on Watson's hydrocodone 10/325 APAP for years at no more than 25 mgs a day.

However, when I picked up my Rx at local Walgreens,it was substituted for your product.

Everyone is different, but your product does not work for me at all!!

I get stomach cramps, chills & constipated! It is not because of change of meds,I tried this med years ago, same problems!

It does nothing for my pain,Tylenol works better than this product!

I took BOT medical in college & my former roommate was in pharma! So I know more than the average person.

What is the NDC # for a comparable med to Watson's? I will tell you Watson no longer does this generic med.

I cannot take your meds!

I do my best to stay healthy & active, due to my conditions!

Please, respond to this inquiry as I am suffering & I really don't like the side effects I am having!

Thank you for your time!

Best regards

Lynn

Watson is no longer sold in my town and the brands they do sell don't work. I understand that the government has an epidemic but people are starting to buy them off the street or have to take more than prescribed to get relief. I'm sure Mexico loves this. Hello more problems. Now I personally am going to go to a stronger drug. I need pain relief! I'm not addicted to hydrocodone but am afraid of getting addicted to the harder stuff. Pharmacists just buy the cheapest meds. Is it all about the buck$? Which pharmacy carries Watson hydrocodone? Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Apple (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Isnt this an outright travesty. I already knew those piece of crap Amneal mfg pills made me sick gave me headaches and took no pain away at all so i always went to walgreens to get my watsons. Surprise when i got home with my script to find this crap in its place. I called right away to ask to switch them out because one other month i made this mistake getting cheaper ones at kroger and went through 30 days of torture. Walgreens said no way and they wont be carrying watsons anymore and i guess they didnt feel that was pertinent to tell someone whose pain levels get so high i get suicidal so i am in the midst of one of the most painful months of my life. I love how poharmaceutical companies and pharmacies have no idea how life changing that can be but they give no damns at all! Im praying the little pharmacy I know has always carried them still does because if not I just dont know if I can take this anymore. I firmly believe these pills are placebo with negative effects so people wont want them anymore. Again these addicts are ruining my life us who are in real pain. It makes me sick
Walgreens told me no more watsons in their stores in texas

Re: Stargazer19 (# 50) Expand Referenced Message

Understand that Watson has been bought out by another company and they are not manufacturing generic hydrocodone or any other pain medication I am aware of. It is my understanding that the "Watson' name had been kept on certain meds but not many and then only in certain States or regions. I had to move my prescription from Walgreens to another pharmacy because they told me they will no longer stock Watson generics. They only have an awful replacement manufactured by Allegan. These replacement pills are too awful to explain but you can believe that the so called "pain pill" crisis is causing this. The reformulation is intentional. Not only are the binders (inert ingredients) different but they are not even putting in the amount of pain medication that is on the label. I read one post that said that if you see "7.5" mg hydrocodone they are only putting in "6.0" mg. The so called "opioid" crisis is taking down street addicts and pill thieves but everybody that has been prescribed pain medication for many YEARS and is using it correctly. I have contacted many Congressmen on this issue and have NEVER received a reply.

Oh, oh my! U took the words right out of my mouth I was sick in pain Placebo feeling stupid meds I went back to my doctor with my bottle of pills and she counted them out and in return give me a new script for Oxycodone. It's a lower dose but way better than the replaced Watson. I hope this helps. I'm sorry you are having to go through hell.

Walgreen's CANNOT bring back the "Watson" brand as it was bought out by Actavis a few years ago and the Watson brand hydrocodone is no longer being manufactured.

Re: Lynn (# 40) Expand Referenced Message

I have researched "Watson" generics on the internet a couple of times. I believe "Watson" brand generics for opioid medications have been discontinued. Everything has been rebranded (generic opioids) by the company that bought out "Watson" which is "Actavis". Actavis has reformulated the opioid generics to try and remove the properties of the pain medication that causes any feelings of euphoria while TRYING to keep the pain relieving properties of the pain medications. Unfortunately, their reformulation has left them with meds that are no better than aspirin, tylenol, or Aleve. Evidently you can't have it both ways. The internet states that the "Watson" brand name is still distributed for certain medications in certain areas but NOT for the generic pain medication. Also, it has come to my attention that the manufacturers are allowed to formulate in up to 20% less of the active ingredient in their pills which means if you are prescribed a 7.5/325 generic hydrocodone-acetaminophen that you MAY only be getting 6.0 of the active ingredient and NOT the 7.5 that was written by your Doctor. I had the same prescription for a chronic, inoperable injury written for over 12 years and never once complained about the quality of the pills provided. Then in January of 2018 I went to refill my prescription and, unknown to me until I got home and took one of the pills provided, my pharmacy had changed from the "Watson" brand to the "Actavis" brand. The difference in quality was astounding. I had to change pharmacies to get a slightly better quality of medication. Not as good as the "Watson" brand I had been receiving but light years better than the "Actavis" brand that I had received in January of 2018. I have appealed to my insurance provider to allow me to receive the name brand of the medication and they are fighting it as hard as they can. I have a hearing scheduled before an Administrative Law Judge scheduled in a few days to force the insurance company to provide the name brand that they have, so far, refused to allow me to receive under my insurance. The law and the rules are on my side so maybe with this hearing they will finally be forced to provide me an opportunity to receive what TWO pharmacists have said should work as they have had no complaints on the name brand but has received hundreds of complaints on the generic at the local and corporate level. I had to speak to both of these pharmacists "off the record" as I know them well and they do not want to put their jobs at jeopardy just because they stated the truth and not the "company line". I will let this community know how this works out.

Re: w john (# 78) Expand Referenced Message

I feel your pain (literally), and frustration. The same thing has happened with my lorazepam. But, my problem is that Mylan who always made the medication has stopped making this and the Actavis brand took that one over too and it’s like taking aspirin. I have chronic pain and severe anxiety so am in a real mess. The bigger corporate pharmacies are the worst as they have to order the cheapest drug made. My suggestion is to switch to a family owned smaller pharmacy which is not a chain pharmacy, they will be glad to have your business and can order different brands that may work better. Good luck to you.
